Old-fashioned (in a nice way) pub. There are several different rooms so there's always a cosy little nook or cranny to squeeze yourself into :-) There's also outside seating at the front of the pub where you can watch this busy little town go about its daily business whilst enjoying a well kept beer - Robinson's. When I last dined here I had a lovely home made steak pie with chips and veg, the menu has all the usual pub favourites plus an interesting specials board adds variety. We were slightly annoyed on our last visit because the young waiter was very pushy with the check at the end of meal almost to the extent that we didn't feel like we were trusted. Hopefully that was just a one off experience though. There's a lot of competition on the pub front in Garstang, probably as a result of its long history as a thriving market town (it is also the world's first fairtrade town) but the Royal Oak certainly holds its own and is one of my favourites without a doubt. Best pub to dine at in Garstang by a country mile. read more
