My experience of Nutters was as part of a large group of 12, having the gourmet taster menu as a celebration, and I believe that the evening fulfilled its role and lived up to great expectations.
The food was fantastic throughout, my favourites being the Chinatown inspired pork belly, the carrot, bacon and truffle velouté, the bass with red onion and fennel salad, and finally, two parts of the five component dessert: the bread and butter pudding and the whinberry brûlée. The other courses were almost as divine, but these stood out to my palate!
Unusually for me, I managed to find a wine that I enjoyed drinking! I'm usually strictly a beer man, but the house dry white that night wasn't just bearable, but enjoyable and surprisingly good value!
I thought the decor and layout was very interesting, although some people in the group didn't agree, it would appear that it's a bit of a marmite interior! I happened to love it.
There was, however, one slight issue we had, which was that the waiting staff were quite softly spoken when telling us what had just been put down in front of us, so we didn't quite catch the full description. I suppose this could be put down to maybe not being used to such a large table size, but we had no difficulty at all when Andrew Nutter himself came to our table at the beginning, to welcome us and to give us a run down of the menu, which was very much appreciated! read more
