You get what you pay for. Be a good human, and bring cash for tips. They have their autoclave out in full view to sterilize instruments. They use disposable spa liners for the pedicure stations. The nail scrub brushes are even labeled dirty and clean. Plus the shop is immaculate. From the floors, to the bathroom to the aquarium -- this place is sparkling clean. To me, there is nothing more important than superb hygiene and cleanliness in a nail salon. Then there is service. The ladies and gentlemen are super polite and clearly talented. I love the set up they have at the manicure stations with 2 UV boxes -- one for each hand. I have never ever had a bad encounter with any of the technicians, for some reason everyone is in a good mood! I love it! Now to the technique. I work with my hands. I do crazy home remodeling projects with a new manicure -- from wood working to plastering to toiling in the earth. For work, I wear nitrile gloves nearly every day. Not exactly a recipe for keeping a manicure looking tidy. I'd get gel manicures on the regular in Houston, and the polish would start lifting after 10 days. My nails are just not meant to be long and doing regular gel manicures got them even more brittle. But all in the name of beauty, right? How Royal Nails does their gel nail polish manicures will last a solid 2-2.5 weeks before lifting. You get what you pay for. But... Then... I discovered by observing and having a nail repaired by Mai (that I broke nearly at the nail bed) -- this technique they call a dip. Not tips, like fake acrylics glued on. A dip. Your real nails get dipped into some kind of acrylic gel powder and built up layer by layer. It's a time consuming process, but totally worth it. Your natural nails are thicker than you are used to. But they are now unbreakable. I was totally skeptical. For the first time in my life, I went 3 weeks (could've gone 4) without a single nail breaking or polish lifting. Are you kidding me? This is amazing. A dream come true for someone who can't grow strong natural nails, won't do acrylic tips, and works with their hands. Now with getting a dip, my natural nails are longer and stronger than they've ever been. Finally, let's talk colors. Picking a nail polish color is already difficult. They have SO MANY beautiful gel polish shades of blues, greens, purples. Beautiful bright pinks, tennis ball yellow, every pastel color known to man. And... super cool holographic and metallic nail polish. Hi, I've always wanted glitter rainbow nails! How beautiful are these? $45 for a dip manicure including your choice of one of the 300 gel nail polish colors $5 for removing the previous polish Additional $10-15 for SUPER COOL holographic or metallic nail polish Remember -- bring money to tip in cash. That's what they have posted -- and it is the right thing to do. Pro tip: Call ahead for an appointment. They are popular and busy. I was in need of an acrylic fill in and I just moved here, so I decided to try this place since it was the first to pop in on Google. I was not disappointed at all - Thomas did an amazing job with shaping and designs! :) Side note: I left a bigger cash tip than anticipated because I had bills wrapped around each other and didn't realize until I got home (my fault). So just be responsible for yourself, of course, and count your money out because they don't count out change for you or in front of you. I have come to this salon a few times before. Every time I have gotten good service and been pleased with my nails. I decided to come here again today thinking I would get a good quality service and be happy with the result once again. Boy was I wrong. In the pictures below you will see what I asked for. I asked for regular French tips with sparkles on top. The nail tech that did my nails just put down the sparkle top coat without putting on a white polish first. As I went about my day I noticed that the French tips were not even at all. I decided to go back to see if they could get fixed. I had to talk to 3 people before someone came to fix them. And when I apologized for coming back to complain, I was told I shouldn't have done that because they were busy. I felt like a burden. I paid $68 for a set of nails that don't have an even French tip on it. I am happy with the result after they fixed them, but the service was horrible. Came in a few weeks ago for a gel no chip manicure and they really delivered. My manicure lasted almost three weeks before any of my nails started to show wear. They charge a bit more, if I recall I think it was almost $60 for gel with two designs but with how long they withstood my everyday lifestyle it's totally worth it. read more

My time at Royal Nails has come to an end.. I truly adore Mei and will miss her but I cannot continue to give my business to this establishment. Their pricing is too high for what kind of service they provide and most of the people there are rude. I booked an appointment for mani/pedi as I was flying to CO for my daughters wedding. Somehow, the appointment was mixed up and there was only time for 1 service. Mei found someone there that could do my mani however and I took a chance. 2 different employees thought it was ok to lecture me on my appointment being mixed up... I've never seen these employees before nor do I care to hear their opinion. Who knows how it got messed up, if I put in the wrong time or Mei did. Things like this happens but apparently, to them, I was the guilty person and I was "shamed". Lol. My manicure was horrible, started chipping 2 days later while I was in CO and I had to find a place out there to get another one. Though I alerted Mei with pictures, have not received any call from the owner to make this right, even after 3 years of being a customer. That is shameful. If you attempt to go here, ask for Mei. I was in town for a wedding and needed my nails and eyebrows done. I called and made an appointment which they were accommodating. I first had a Deluxe Pedicure and the girl was confused and started giving me a Royal Pedicure, the foot wax burned my feet, thankfully it wasn't on that long because I asked why were doing this when I only wanted a Deluxe. Then we went to do my eyebrows and she ended up burning my eyelid. I walked out of the room bleeding. We did my manicure last and she put on so many coats my nails bubbled up. RIP OFF!! Don't come here if you want simple designs! They don't listen to what you want, they do as they please and will wipe it off if you say that's not what you wanted but then will proceed to ignore what you want until you finally accept that they're not willing to try what you're paying for. I called her out for telling my boyfriend that it would be free and that they gave me something I didn't even want to spend my money on, then once again, she attempted to talk me out of what I wanted asking me if there was a different design they can do and that's when I said "That's not what I want and I'm the one paying the money, so no!" The salon itself is clean and spacious and modern, and I was able to make an appointment over the phone. I arrived 15 minutes early and was able to be seated right away. First star docked: I booked a "gel polish change" and as they were setting me up in my seat they also said "gel polish change" to one another a few times. The manicurist apparently ended up doing a full manicure on me anyway, which came to $41 ($49 with tip). That's twice as much as I expected to pay and there wasn't anything I could do about it. Second star docked: I almost always get black nail polish, and today was no different. The polish they used looks fine in the fluorescent lighting of my office, but is navy blue in the sunlight (and I spend a lot of time outside). Disappointed I wasn't warned about this. I used google maps to find a salon near me and this place popped up within my distance. It said it didn't close until 6:30. I went up to the door at exactly 5:33 and the doors were locked. I knocked on the door and the technician who was doing a woman's pedicure looked at me and didn't even acknowledge that I was trying to come inside. Again, theres still another hour of business according to google. The two customers who were inside also saw me knocking and looked at the bail tech, who then looked at me for a second time, and didn't even give me any gesture that he was closed. The lady was extremely rude laughed at me and argued with me because she told me if she was going to fix them I could only get one color so I paid 15$ extra for nothing on my BIRTHDAY. After I sucked it up and got one solid color and took her rude comments and heard her making fun of me to her other customers and laughing at me. My nail broke in less then 72 hours. The salon ambiance gets a 5, the color selection, a 5..I just wish the employees were more professional. They set your gel polish so far from your cuticle that it looks grown out by day 3 and every time I've been there they've either been rude to me or I've overheard them talking very unprofessionally to the point where It makes me uncomfortable to be there. The last time I went, I tried telling my nail tech I wanted to give a $10 tip and use the other $10 out of my $20 toward my service with my credit card. The woman tipped herself $10 on my credit card and took the entire $20 as additional tip, when I tried to figure out why my service was so expensive and the whole tip issue she acted like she didn't understand English.
