I stayed here several days over the course of two weeks while in town for work. This is probably 1…read moreof 3 hotels in the entire town. At first it seemed cozy. It seems fairly clean, but definitely could use some improvement. The rooms are shabby, the fixtures, furniture, appliances are all old. There seems to generally be only one staff person on-site who is responsible for pretty much everything: laundry, housekeeping, desk attendance. That is understandable considering that the hotel is small and pretty dead with mostly truckers and construction workers staying there. There were no security measures on the main doors. I stayed here several days and what irritated me was that the ice machine broke and no one bothered to place an out-of-order sign on it or seemed to even care. There were two vending machines, both completely empty. There was a supposed complimentary breakfast, which they could have kept to themselves. Stale bagels/honey bun was pretty much what that consisted of. Also there were random gnats in the rooms sometimes even though there was no food left out. They just appeared. The staff was so-so. one of the ladies was super-pleasant and accommodating, not sure if she was a manager. There were two other females that I encountered who gave off the vibe that I was bugging them if I asked for anything, which I had to do quite often considering that everyday my key card would deactivate and I'd have to go to the desk to get reactivated. The first time it happened i was told it was because there had been a power outage earlier that day. One time I had to stand at the desk and wait about 10 minutes because the only staff on duty (apparently) was down the hall/upstairs cleaning a room. The staff could usually be found sitting outdoors smoking when not at the front desk or attending to other duties. When it was time for me to check-out for good, they for some strange reason were unable to print my receipts and claimed they would mail them to me (yeah right). I ended up calling back and telling them that I needed the receipts before leaving town and would be in to pick them up later. When I went back they handed me a bunch of pages and said they had to print each day individually although the reservation was for an entire week. This explains why I had to reactivated my key card everyday, I was being checked out and re-checking in everyday. The were also tacky handwritten signs taped all over the lobby desk and even on the front door. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend staying here for more than a day or two. I was actually in town for several weeks, but ended up finding a hotel in the next town over because I just couldn't stay here anymore :-( Two stars because it wasnt a complete dump. It could actually be somewhat decent if the staff/management improved.

Bearing this in mind, the room was clean, as was the bathroom and shower. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure (just a shower stall, no bath tub). I stayed Friday night, before heading back to Columbus. Got a non-smoking single bed room -- bed was full size and comfortable. The heat was turned off when I walked in (makes sense; heating is expensive and the room had been empty) and the room felt cold. The room heated up quite quickly once I turned the heater on. The heater was an Amana heater/air conditioner, typical in such hotels. Digital output let's you set the temperature. Quite loud when the fan was going (even on low), but not too loud to disturb my sleep. The bed was comfortable enough; I got a good night's rest. Staff was very pleasant. As I came in a woman was standing outside, talking on the phone, she opened the door for me and followed me in. Turned out she was working behind the desk. Acted pleasant, despite interrupting her phone conversation. Called me "hon" (always a plus in my book) and engaged in pleasant chit-chat. When I mentioned the check out at 11AM sign (it was 10pm at checkin) she said I could take my time -- just let her know in the morning. I asked about an AARP rate and got it. The AARP rate was reasonable ("rack rate" was a bit steep for this kind of accommodation). My expectations re breakfast were level set, by the prior post, so I was pleasantly surprised. There was orange juice, There were 3 kinds of dry cereal (the cheerioes were low on sugar, which I appreciated) and milk. There was some fruit (which I did not try: apples and oranges). The bagels I stayed away from, after taking one look. The coffee was mediocre at best, but tasted better after putting milk in it. Hey, at least it's coffee (if you're of the opinion that life is too short for bad coffee, I suggest you go into town to get a cup). The person who checked me in was at the desk again, in the morning. Again pleasant, and again called me hon. If I'm ever in Urbana overnight again, I'll gladly stay in this motel.

Front staff and housekeeping are very polite and easy to interact with. The daily morning breakfast items were much more than expected. There were daily scrambled eggs and some type of sausage patties/breakfast meat, English muffins, bagels. A couple of mornings, biscuits and gravy were available. Daily offerings included cereal and yogurts, along with oatmeal and almost a dozen toppings. There was also fruit, juice, several coffees, and teas. Less that 100 yards away are several places for lunch/dinner. From approximately 5 to 10 PM there was a full bar (wine too) with many drink specials, and happy hour was 5-7PM. And the bartender, Melanie, was glad to make a recommendation or a favorite libation too.

Breakfast: they have all the standard items, and do get very crowded on certain days and time. Downstairs bar: rarely open, very inconvenient Front desk staff: friendly, professional and efficient Housekeeping: horrible, except the Sunday crew. We stayed here from Saturday- Tuesday July 5-9, on the 5th floor, the only day we received adequate housekeeping service was on Sunday, all the other days we came back to the hotel room, after 5pm, either the room was not cleaned OR the floor was not vacuumed , beds were covered up without underneath sheets were straighten or clean at all. See pictures, that's the bed after it was supposed to be made. I believe the hotel management do have all the necessary information to figure out who needs to be retrained on their job duties. Room: spacious, but...the air conditioning was super loud, even after we lowered it to the lowest level, it is still loud. Had to turn it off at times to get some rest . Body wash run out after 1 day staying, and I guess the hotel probably run out of the wall mount bottles so they gave us 2 small travel size bottles . No body lotion, had to ask for it. Amenities: there is a gym and pool on the first floor, small but good enough Location: convenient, next to shopping centers, restaurants and movie theater. Parking was easy. Next time when I am in the area, not sure if I will stay here, to risk for another unpleasant stay. Do recommend management emphasize on housekeeping qualities, since it is a crucial element when running a hotel.

It's wide open ...it's fresh. It's nice. It has games tvs has a full on lobby with like food and drinks and like free water and ice and tea is just so nice and I'm stopping here to charge my phone. I don't even have to have a room here. This is so Amazing and I think they have free continental breakfast that's so cool.

Frickin stupid staff. Frustrating with every interaction. We were already charge because they could t find us and booked another reservation. In checking out with the front desk, we wanted to make sure the no-show charge would be cancelled or reversed, the idiot at the desk accused us of booking through a third-party site and told us to call them. They didn't ask, just assumed. Again showed the app and the first reservation and proved we booked direct. She went and got the GM to reverse it. Frickin idiot! The breakfast is crap. Powder eggs, smoked sausage as a breakfast meat, empty fruit bowl, sweetened yogurt. Good sides are that the beds were clean (not the floors or the shower) the water pressure is great. At least the ice makers on the other floors weren't out of order. Don't trust GPS to get here. You have to look for it. New construction area. Seems like a good area but a lot of people were hanging out in busted junk cars parked behind the building so I wonder if someone allows people to car camp back there. Just be careful is traveling alone.

Upon arrival, I noticed that the lobby was super clean and cozy, and I was greeted by very kind people at the desk. The room I stayed in, with thanks to my friend for earning us a free upgrade to a junior suite, was HUGE -- the perfect size for the two of us to live, work, and relax for a few days. Everything was, again, super clean, and the layout was superb (a C-shape from entrance to the bedroom area). I appreciated housekeeping's fabulous work, and all staff members I encountered were amazing throughout my stay. For the final night of my stay, I had to switch rooms, as my friend's reservation only lasted until Saturday and I made my own reservation for one night. I checked out of the first room at around 10:30am, and I was greeted by a manager at the front desk who, instead of simply offering a place for me to store my luggage, hooked me up with a room on the spot. She was incredibly kind and friendly throughout the interaction, which I really appreciated (especially since she absolutely went out of her way to accommodate this request). The king room I stayed in for the last night was also superb! As for amenities, I only really took advantage of the snack pantry, which was stocked with all the essentials. I 100% recommend this hotel, and I look forward to returning whenever I visit Dayton!

You can tell a lot of thought went into the redesign. The staff truly made the stay stand out. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with anything we needed. The check in desk personnel had great food suggestions. The location is also a huge plus--within close proximity to plenty of food options, and I loved how the hotel connects to the beautiful rotunda. It made walking around the city easy and enjoyable. My only minor complaint was having to valet the car, but honestly, even that was handled really well. The valet employees were efficient, accommodating, and made the process smooth. We had to leave for the airport before a valet was there so let parked our car in the front so it was easy to get to. Would definitely stay here again!

The leather (vinyl?) couch was also dirty. We tend to wipe down our rooms and were surprised at the amount of dirt on the dark colored (brownish) couch - so it seems they do not wipe them off too often. I also hoped that being a lifetime platinum elite I would have gotten a room where I could overlook the ballpark. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Nevertheless, this hotel is a gem in the Gem City, and with a little more attention to the cleaning details can easily be 4 or 5 stars!
