Just ordered the build your own sub from door dash with the big cut fries and a large Mac.. Chicken Sandwich was a 3/5 The Fries were 3/5 meh.. I will say the Mac n Cheese was my favorite part of the order but they didn't give me any utensils so I had to use the hotel coffee stir stick as a make shift spork.... Coffee is great, customer service is great but the fried chicken is not the same. The last two visits, I wasn't pleased with the chicken.

[Date of Visit: May 7, 2023, approximate 3:00PM EST] I did not know there was a Royal Farms in this area and thus decided to check it out for a snack run. The building and space is very inviting and very clean. What impressed and excited me the most was the fact that this placed had a huge variety of sun flower seeds! So many different flavors. I also noticed that the variety of snacks and candy are more abundant here than other standard gas station stores; most likely on par or rivaling with Wawa. In terms of a snack run, I approve this place. Prices were pretty typical that you would find and expect in a gas station store. Will be coming back for future snack runs. read more

I am a Lyft driver and stop frequently to use the restroom and sometimes buy something, but I think will start stopping at Wawa down the street because very frustrating when the homeless man sleeping outside asking me for money every time! I recommend management get him off the property. It is a bad impression on the business as I use to manage a business and you don't want homeless bothering your customers. Now Royals Farms is generally a great stop. They have fabulous, fresh fried chicken. To me, its as good as any you can get a chicken place. I also love their coffee, and they have many choices of blends. They can also be generally counted on for a clean bathroom. Unfortunately, this relatively new location, the first in Norfolk, has some issues. The chicken I got today was not fresh, in fact, the hardness of the breading makes me think it had been sitting around for quite some time. This was the second time I got subpar chicken at this location. Once when taking home an 8-piece, I discovered they had given me six pieces and a stale chicken tender instead. Also a problem is the condition of the store, as only one of the four computer ordering kiosks were actually working today. I imagine the condition has a lot to do with the location. For some reason, they thought it would be a good idea to open next door to a mens homeless shelter. This has resulted in the residents constantly hanging around inside the store, charging their phones and using the wifi. They also are generally taking over the outside picnic tables. Today, one man offered to sell me a loose bottle of beer for a dollar when I pulled up! I've never felt unsafe, but it is far from a pleasant atmosphere. I still like Royal Farms other locations, and hope they build more in Norfolk soon. Not sure what they were thinking with this one... read more

The only reason Royal Farms gets one star is because no stars isn't an option. We waited 30 minutes before demanding a refund. It's not like they were busy, business was steady. I saw plenty of people place an order, then pick up their order. The boy behind the counter would ask the young ladies waiting what their order number was and then proceed to find their ticket and fill their order out of turn. I hope it was a coincidence that I was the only white face in the store. The manager was working the register, then run behind the food prep counter and cook, and the other three employees just held their ****s. They won't last long. The chicken is good so if you want to try it, you better hurry. I give them six months before they shut down. It's true, good help is hard to find. read more

This is for the new store in Norview and Military Hwy. I could give a zero rating, I would. I placed my order for an 8 piece mixed chicken meal with a large fry at 5:10 pm today. I left the store with no food at 6pm!!! I tried to give them the benefit of doubt because they are brand new, but when I kept seeing an employee taking customers tickets from them, then reaching her hand into the food with those contaminated gloves I lost my mind. I spoke to the regional manager about it about 5 minutes into my wait time and she said the health dept. does not require them to use tongs, just a gloved hand. but the same employee kept doing the same thing over and over. Gloves don't mean anything if they are contaminated!!In the end I asked for my money back because not only was it almost an hour wait, but they are nasty!!! They probably should have waited until February to open if their staff isn't fully trained yet. read more

I really did not enjoy my experience at Royal Farms. first off the "world famous chicken" wasn't world famous because immediately after eating it I texted my buddy in shanghai if they liked royal farms and they said they never heard of it so THAT WAS A LIE! It was frustrating to use the restroom here as well because grandma gina's wheelchair wouldn't fit through the door either. It's always a pain since she insists on a bunch of extra crap on it such as a "respirator" and "heart Monitor". I'm actually pretty offended that she insists on her fake medical devices that were clearly invented by fauci to jack up prices for big pharma. I think I can monitor her heart well enough, and since royal farms wouldn't Accommodate to her obscenely massive wheelchair, I had to remove all her equipment. She was screaming and gasping the entire time and causing a scene. Then, when she was finished her business, we discovered that there was no toilet paper OR paper towels, so she had to use her hand which only intensified her screaming. The staff told us to leave MID-WIPE and i had to deal with her disgusting poop hands the entire way down to Florida. At least she said it was tastier than the chicken! read more

This was my once weekly stop for fried chicken and gasoline. But, not after this morning (Sept. 6 2019). Yolonda, their newest employee, has taken it upon herself to treat me as one of the bums that hang out here. Within five minutes of entering the store and ordering my food. She insisted I need to wait outside. Taken back, I inform her I just ordered my food. To which she replied "Doesn matter, you need to wait outside.". Now that angered, so I ignored her. And continued to wait for my chicken and fries. Which was being freshly cooked, by the wonderful women working the kitchen (who are always pleasant when I stop in). But, while waited Yolonda continued to harass me. To point of me yelling. I spoke to the manager about it, and it was pretty obvious he just didn't care. I have no clue as to why she targeted me, maybe it's all my tattoos and piercings (they intimidate some people upon first meeting me). Whatever the reason, Yolanda's attitude towards me was extremely unprofessional. As was the managers lack of caring about how she treated their paying customer... So, if you stop in and Yolanda's working, you may want to go elsewhere... The women making the food is only reason this location has any stars. read more

I am fully aware that royal farms is a gas station so I wasn't expecting Chick-fil-A or Bojangles chicken from them. That being said if your slogan is gonna be "world famous chicken" it better be some dang good chicken. The chicken thighs were for the most part, fresh and juicy. But the three boxes of chicken tenders were practically inedible, consuming one required primal strength and raw energy as the chicken was chewy, stringy and bone dry. Either this chicken was roasted above a pit of lava or left in a warming pan for 24 hours. Not even my stash of Chick-Fil-A sauce could rescue me from this abomination. Perhaps if they had advertised this monstrosity as jerky I would have been more prepared for the trauma and true devastation that I and my family were subjected to. To top it all off the potato wedges were floppy and had a concerning half cooked consistency. I was beyond excited to find solace in my chicken after a long day, but alas, I was greeted with this sad excuse of an entree.
