Everyone who works there is super nice. It is clean inside and not super busy on a weeknight. I like the large garage-style doors that open out into the daylight. Happy Hour is until 6 pm and I had 2 Backyard Crushers that cost $4 each for 16 oz glass. About 5% alcohol and is an ok beer but nothing like Fat Head's Head Hunter. I ordered a Nashville chicken sandwich which was good. It looked like 2 large chicken tenders on a bun with hot sauce. It comes with fries which were also hot and good. The ambiance is great with a large area that is open to the outside while the room is air conditioned. My big complaint is the service. You have to wait in what is often a long line each time you need a beer or want to order food. I waited 12 minutes just to place a beer order and then it takes time to get your order. Management needs to address this problem because it is driving business away. read more

It's officially Christmas Ale season and the Yuletide at Royal Docks is a local favorite. I love the fresh rosemary and sugar on the rim (optional). This beer is fragrant and delicious. I also like the dinner options here, which range from traditional pub foods like flatbreads, wings and burgers, to some healthier options like the shrimp bowl with brown rice, avocado and corn. It's an inviting setting with the fires going on the patio, and they have some good Happy Hour deals. One of their standard brews - the Royal Dark - is currently offered for $3 even after Happy Hour ends. Service was team based and very friendly and attentive. read more

Been wanting to eat here for about 5 years and just never made it, but we made it last night! I've had the Backyard Crusher beer and it's always tasty, so I had mother one last night. We split a mergherita flatbread and it was good as well. The fried deviled eggs were fantastic as was the muffuletta sandwich. Fries were good too. Nothing to make me want to give it 5 stars necessarily. Servers were nice and it was moderately busy on this late summer Saturday early evening. I'll be back to sample more of the menu. read more

We really loved this place! We came on Labor Day when many other places around town were closed, and it was a blessing in disguise since we got to try this place out. We love the giant soft pretzel that came with beer cheese and mustard. We ordered the pulled pork sliders and the cheeseburger special. Both were really good. The fries that came with both are crispy, and they give you the option to add beer cheese and bacon on the fries. We did one order plain and one with the beer cheese, and both were good, but the leftovers were better without the soggy beer cheese the next day. The beers were good, the service was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the wide range of music they played. We sat on the patio, and it's a lovely patio (other than the fact that the views are of the parking lot, haha) on a nice night. If we lived near here, we'd definitely be back! read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon while visiting family. We sat inside, technically speaking, but the large garage doors were open so we had the best of both worlds. We were greeted by a server right away who took our drink orders and made a beer recommendation for my brother who doesn't care for hoppy beers. I started with the Backyard Crusher. It's a very drinkable lager with lime and sea salt. It was refreshing and flavorful, kind of a perfect summer afternoon beer. My husband had a flight of beers. He definitely liked some of what he sampled more than others and overall enjoyed trying new things, though there was nothing he was itching to get a growler of for later. We had lunch while we were there. I had a salad (it's no longer listed on their online menu so I can't be sure which one) that came with grilled chicken on a bed of arugula. The grilled chicken was good. The dressing, a vinaigrette made from one of their beers, lacked any flavor at all. Our service was really good. There seemed to be a party happening in the adjoining event space and the patio was bustling with patrons so we were pleasantly surprised to not run into any service issues. I do wish they would put more menus out - they have one menu per table and for a part of five, that was annoying particularly because the online menu was very different from the print menu. read more

We absolutely love this place. Great food great beer and great mocktails for my pregnant wife. I love that they have a flight of 6 beers so you can get a good taste of the beer selection. The atmosphere is great, if you want to sit outside they have a great patio and comfortable inside seating as well. The service has always been great. The ambiance is it definitely brewery chic. I dig it but I am sure it is not everyone's favorite watering hole. The service was fine, we sat at the bar and the wait staff was tentative enough. It did sort of feel like they didn't want to be there. That's okay, they could have had an off day. The only thing worth the price tag was the beer. The cocktail was a bit expensive and the poutine wasn't worth $11. I was really hoping to like this place but it just missed the mark. Good food, good beer, good ambiance. Why only 3 stars? Was lured here by the ad stating All day happy hour Sunday- $4 beers, $6 appetizers. Went to order appetizer, only 3 out of 10 qualified so we opted for a brunch item. Charged an extra $5 for a side salad.... Whatever... ordered 4 Christmas beers. Expecting a bill around $45 or so, instead it was over $70. Evidently only 3 of the 10 or so beers qualified for the Happy Hour beers. Not ours. I take a good amount of pride in 'congratulating' businesses on a fine performance, especially restaurants. I have a great deal of respect for those who have managed to stay afloat or even thrive during COVID. In short, I like to give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately, this will not be one of those reviews. As a craft-beer lover and as someone who tries to support the industry (with limited disposable income, we at least took home a crowler from various places a couple of times a month during COVID), I have been a fan of Royal Docks products. (in fact, I think the '+44 Pub Ale' might be one of the easiest-drinking beverages in Northeast Ohio!) So even though my brother is a Celiac, I was still pretty pleased that he and his wife took us to the RD Foeder House, a first-time visit to that locale. For a Friday evening (maybe because of 'First Friday'?), it was uncharacteristically dead. Our server asked what we'd like to drink. I ordered two 5 oz. pours for starters, the 'One Street Dream' Old Ale (unbelievably awesome!) and the 'Dare' IPA. (BUT....none of the so-called '5 ounce-pours' were actually 5 ounces! In fact, the Old Ale was actually only filled up half-way??) I ordered a second 5 ounce of 'One Street Dream' which was poured to capacity, as was the full pint of 'London' (also excellent!!). But it was a strange serving experience! Unfortunately, RD didn't have a g-f beer option for my brother and didn't offer a cider on their menu. So, he opted for a glass of wine and his wife ordered a mojito. But because the menu didn't really list specified gluten-free options, we discussed just leaving after our drinks and going somewhere else. But in the end, we decided to stay and 'make do' as far as available g-f food. This is where things get dicey. Our server(s) (we actually had multiple people coming to our table) answered some questions about the menu and actually stated that 'any of our flatbreads can be made to be gluten-free'. (Um...isn't that something that should be clearly explained on your menu? We nearly walked out. People who are Celiac or gluten-sensitive have a TOUGH time eating out. Why not advertise this??) In the end, my Celiac bro ordered a flatbread, his wife ordered a Vlad burger, and my wife and I split a Vlad burger. So, the meals arrive. Our burger was prepared well...actually, it was very tasty. My brother's wife, though, was specific with the server: please make it WELL-DONE! And it was not. So a quarter of the way through the burger, she discovers that there is a significant amount of 'pink'. So we urge her to say something, and she does. The server apologizes and takes it back. Meanwhile, a manager comes over after hearing of the miscue and announces to us that 'we have someone new on the grill tonight' and apologizes. She even offers a dessert, which my sister-in-law turns down. "No, thank you," she replies. "I just am really hungry for a burger." The burger re-appears. But it's the SAME burger. Not a new one prepared the correct way. The SAME one! And, get this: it's also NOT well-done. So, the new chef has screwed up a burger TWICE on one order. Needless to say, my sister-in-law is pretty upset. We call another server over (the 3rd one to venture to our table) and she offers to bring another burger to the table.(same one re-cooked again??) But my sister-in-law is having none of it, and asks that the bill simply be brought to the table. Our server says that because of the error that her burger will now be 'discounted'. So, the bill arrives. And the burger is, sort of, 'discounted'. Half of the price of the burger has been removed from the bill. Not the whole burger (prepared incorrectly, twice). Half. Worse, the price for the Mojito is NOT what was reflected on the menu. So another server wanders by and my sister-in-law starts to go over the receipt with her. (and, mind you, this is a receipt generated by a portable machine brought to the table. It does not itemize the bill, so you basically have your card swiped to pay, but you don't see the actual itemized charges until you're handed it.) She calls the server's attention to the discrepancy in the drink price. And the server says, "Yeah, when they did up the menu, they had the 'old' price. So the receipt reflects the new one. I can call the manager over again, if you like." By this time, my sister-in-law was furious, saying, repeatedly, 'we are never coming in here again.' And I can't say I blame her. Tonight we ordered two flat breads and they both came out burned. The outside was very hard and crunchy with a burned flavor. We mentioned it to our server and she credited 1 to our bill. She was wonderful, the food wasn't. There's other choices very close, we'll think twice before going back. read more

Arrived at 5:30. Literally only 3 parties sitting inside. We ordered a beer at the bar. People started coming in...no less than 6 or 7 people waiting in line to order drinks and food. They had 1 person taking orders! Obviously did not have enough staff to accommodate the patrons. The wait was unacceptable. Ordered 3 appetizers came...we ate..got in line to check out. Then they brought the brussel sprouts...45 min. later. I said we are already checking out. They didn't care...just took it off the bill.....we then had to get in line a Third time to pay our bill... read more

The witness was nice. However, we ordered 2 Bratwurst sandwiches and fries that took 60 minutes to get to the table, something that normally anywhere else would be 15 minutes. You would think after all that time the food would be hot. It was not. I will not go back. It was not worth the time or money even though the food was discounted after complaining.
