After searching and searching I found this practice and Dr. Peter Laplace through word of mouth. I am ever so glad that I did. Staff here is so friendly and helpful. I am never confused about any of the policies or billing. Appointments are easy to schedule and they even have an online patient portal for you to view your records and care plans. Having struggled for several years with a few chronic issues I am finally at a place in my physical and mental health where I'm not just getting by but am happy and on a road to healthy. This is all credited to Dr. Laplace. He listened to my issues and concerns and guided me to the best recovery path. No throwing meds at me and moving on to the next patient! Anyhow, after searching high and low for a new PCP in this area, and waiting months - after a terrible experience with Sentara - I booked with the NP Geeta. She was awesome!! She asked all the right questions and made suggestions that I would have expected from my previous PCP who had for 15+ years. She made me feel very comfortable. The building itself was new, clean and the staff was extremely courteous. I also did not wait long, actually they called me in about 10 minutes before my appt time since I was already there.

These businesses are popping up in big cities all over the US and is playing a new role in primary care. Basically, patients pay a yearly fee to have access to these doctors 24 hours day, 7 days a week. You get a secret after hours number that you can call on weekends to ask questions or request prescriptions. They will come visit you in the Norfolk General Hospital if you ever become an inpatient. You get at least 30 min for an appointment which you can schedule the same day. During the day, you can contact the doctor through email or phone. When you come through the door, you know you're getting quality care. The view from the top floor is breathtaking. You are immediately greeted and given a beverage. Parking is free with validation. Each doctor has their own nurse. The blood draw clinic is in the same building and they come to you. CT/MRI are nearby and the doctor gets back to you immediately! As with all doctor clinics, you have to find a doctor that matches your needs/personality. This group has several of them, each unique in their approach to patient care. I highly advise interviewing with more than one doctor before choosing one to settle on.

I'm sorry to have to downgrade my review for this practice. My last appointment with the doctor…read morewas extremely puzzling. At a previous appointment he insisted that I stop a medication he felt was significantly contributing to my electrolyte imbalance. I asked if I could just stop or needed to taper off. He said to just stop. This bothered me. So I researched it & confirmed both that it could cause electrolyte problems & that you couldn't stop "cold turkey". I contacted my PCP, who gave me the proper instructions & lower dosage to taper off. When I went back for my followup visit I was excited to report that I had stopped taking the offending medicine & had worked really hard to limit my water intake. He would hardly let me talk. He acted like a completely different man, not seeming to want to listen to the fact that I had followed his instructions to stop the medication & to drink less water. I'm not sure he had even checked the bloodwork & other testing that he had ordered. He just waved the results of the urinalysis that had just done in his office at me. He said "There's nothing wrong with you. You just drink too much water,". He indicated that he was dismissing me & had once sent a patient to a psychiatrist for drinking too much water. Needless to say I was shocked at his behavior. I asked if he would send a report to my Cardiologist, who had referred me there for the continuing electrolyte imbalance. That must not have happened. At my next Cardiology appointment they thought the Nephrologist was still in charge of the monitoring. I don't know whether he was just having a bad day. But I do know that I'll never go back to that provider.
