Questionable billing practices and unfriendly office staff. Would recommend going elsewhere.

Sadly Dr. T moved on and is now teaching. Speaks volumes for just how good he was in private practice. I had similar experiences with Dr. N -- felt like I was pushed on her and just didn't seem to be the complete package as Dr. T. But, went back and there's a NEW doc, and he's great. So now it's just Dr. S and NP Catherine; plus the staff is warmer so I'd say give them a try! read more

Unfortunately Dr "T" and "N" have left this practice. Both of which were excellent doctors. Since "Family Medicine in Falls Church" doesn't have an independent yelp page I'm slightly sad that this rating will be going under Dr.T's name however the listing still has the same address and people need to know this practice has taken an absolute nose dive in terms of quality of care and professionalism in my experience. The front office staff are rude and dysfunctional. Dr.Samoes is the new doctor here. Unfortunately he seems "new" in many ways including experience. Certainly didn't give off any vibes of actually caring about concerns I had with my health. The last straw that made me commit to changing to another practice was they prescribed me an incorrect prescription. It took "3 weeks" to get an indirect response back from Dr.Samoes after multiple calls to their front office over that period. Not only can they not fix the prescription but the office staff tried backtracking and stated that Dr.Samoes changed the prescription at my last physical. Well.... We spent all of about 15 seconds discussing it during that visit, none of that time was spent discussing dosage or the type of medication. I don't appreciate being lied to and I really don't appreciate the assumption that I'm dumb enough to believe that. At the end of the day this is a business. If I had a client with an issue and I ignored their concern's for 3 weeks straight and then begrudgingly responded like they were an idiot, I not sure anyone would continue to do business. I truly hope ownership of this practice gets a grip and turns it around however I'm not sticking around to find out. read more

My husband and I have been going to Dr T for 10 years now - wow, time flies! We lived in Falls Church and then moved to DC in 2013 and we still go to Dr T even though there are Doctors closer to us in DC. We like him and his office that much. He is a great doctor and always detailed and complete with us. He is also adapted telehealth appointments which has made things easier. Also, his nursing team is great - if you are scared of needles - don't be at his office as they are all pro's and you barely, if you even do, feel a thing during blood draws and injections! He and his office are all very LGBT friendly and he is very conscientious of LGBT Health. My husband and I appreciate this and are more than comfortable in coming to his office. I would highly recommend Dr. T and his office for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Just recently, he no longer took our insurance and we switched during open enrollment to continue to be his patients. I have been going to Dr. Theisz since 2010, and find him friendly and thorough. Appointments are almost always timely, and when they are not, I know he is dealing with someone who is in more urgent need of care than me. That is how it should be. Front desk person should really say hi when you approach the desk, everyone seems to complain about that. Otherwise, I really love the doctor, am always able to get an appointment, wait times seem fair and there's always parking. Doctor is also responsive and caring. read more

I have been to several doctors over the past 15+ years. Dr. Theisz's office is BY FAR the worst I have been to. They have unethical billing practices, nickel and dime you for everything, and then try to justify the billing practices by saying large insurance companies don't pay them in a timely manner. How is that my problem? Why should you make me come in multiple times over multiple days just so you can submit extra insurance invoices. I asked him point blank why his office did that and he told me it was so he could charge more to the insurance firms. He has the information needed to serve his patient right at the first visit (i.e. checkup) but he forces a follow up visit just so he can file another claim. I just called to transfer my records to a new doctor and the lady in the office said it would cost us 50 cents per page. 50 cents per page for OUR OWN records. DO NOT GO HERE you will regret it. read more

Great bedside manner but as long as you stay within his 5 to 10 minute window for patient care. He is very fast with patients it seems. Wants to get in and out. I fully understand the medical model incentives seeing more patients in less time. But I have also visited plenty of doctors where they can "act" better, and actually make you feel like they have more time. Plus, I love the concept of patient electronic records, but he spends more time entering in info and staring at the screen then looking at the patient. The print out I received was generic and not tailored at all to me. I am glad others have better experiences with him. But I will be looking elsewhere. read more

Saw Dr. T. for a few years, found him knowledgeable, a great PCP. Then Dr. N. joined the practice and somehow I kept getting assigned to her. I've tried over and over to give her the benefit of the doubt, but this last visit I decided I'm never returning. To add to her disorganization and ditziness, on this visit she rolled her eyes at one point, was impatient, and as always, short on listening. I rarely go to the doctor, am in pretty good health. So when something's wrong, yep, please try to listen. I just gave up, didn't even list all my symptoms - let's add arrogance to list of her shortcomings since she clearly had made up her mind before I even got to the part where I was getting sick to my stomach. I just quit trying to explain things the minute she rolled her eyes -- we are talking about no more than 5 minutes of her time, tops, from the time she entered the room, to the time she left -- I was not going on and on -- interesting, since I'd been kept waiting almost 25 min. as per usual. I've been looking for a new PCP since she joined this practice - time to step up that effort. I'm never going back to this practice. read more

Dr. Theisz is amazing! He's kind, gentle, and very easy to talk to. His staff is also very professional. He from time to time has medical students/interns with him and I really appreciate him investing his bedside manner and expertise into the next generation of doctors. I searched long and hard for a GP who could take care of me. He seemed great and thorough. There was just TWO problems... First, he didn't take my first few complaints seriously. I had a full panel blood test and it came back with a low Vitamin D level. He told me to get some sun. After a year of complaints to him, my legs went numb. He finally ordered an MRI on my lumbar region and a neurologist to read the report. The neurologist listened to my list of complaints and diagnosed me with a 98% chance of Multiple Sclerosis after a few minutes of chatting and and confirmed it with a MRI a week later. My brain and spine were riddled with lesions. I went BACK to Theisz and still trusted him with my "care" and asked about a node on my wrist. He told me not to worry and it was normal, I was being silly about a tiny node on my wrist and I was getting old. When I asked for a copy of my records he asked me if I was thinking of leaving him? I don't do well with confrontation and just decided to lie and say I needed it for my own records. I asked for a second opinion from a hand surgeon... I'm scheduled for surgery on BOTH hands because of serious issues! IMO he did two good things; He gave me a referral notice for a neurologist and (on my insistence) gave me a referral for a hand surgeon. He's probably great for a list of common maladies but if you have a serious concern, I would go on a further quest. I now call up my neurologist for anything I need and I am happy. read more

My July 2010 visit here will be my last, and I would never recommend this practice to anybody who expects timely, consistent, or amiable medical care. Although I have only visited this practice one time every six months since 2007, every experience has been unpleasant. The doctor and his staff rarely return telephone calls; no matter how urgent, and the wait to see the doctor has increased to an unacceptable level. Furthermore, the staff is impolite, unresponsive, and seemingly inexperienced. The only attempt by the doctor at this practice to resolve a recent complaint was a letter acknowledging a request for a release of medical records to another practice. Therefore, my concerns were forwarded to the Better Business Bureau and my medical insurance provider. read more

I am new to the area and went is search of an general doctor. I looked around online and checked for good reviews. What i found was all the good Doctors where snobs. It would be easier to get a house loan then an appointment with some of the top Doctors in the area; Yet not so with Dr. Gordon W Theisz. His staff was helpful friendly and did not give me grief about which insurance company i used and his ratings online where quite good. Still, going to a new doctor is scary, you are putting you life in the hands of someone you know little about not to mention often dealing with huge egos. However, i found that Dr. Gordon W Theisz broke all the stereo types. He was happy, upbeat, liked to laugh (at appropriate things), and very down to earth. He also was willing to work with me because I don't want to use a lot of medicines but rather want to learn to live healthy, and change my lifestyle. He agreed, he would only put me on temporary medicines while we work on some of the surrounding causes and issues. He was very open to patient input and seemed to be excited that his patient wanted more then a passive role in treatment. Secondly, I could not help but notice his office was receptive and appreciative of Christian faiths (most likely others too) in that is had among an assortment of other reading material also material of faith. Dr. Gordon W Theisz knew my denomination when i brought it up, spoke kindly about it, and shared with me many of his patients are people of faith and that he cares for many of the local Ministers and their families. Not that is a major selling point on a doctor, but it does indicate that a doctor will be more open to holistic treatment then not. Over all i was quite impressed and don't think i could have made a better choice. read more

I searched the internet long and hard for a general practice doctor. I've never had a doctor I went to steadily and wanted to obtain one. I used the power of the internet to search for the doctors most highly reviewed. Dr. Thiesz came up as one of the highest in the DC metro area. I live in Germantown which is about 45 minutes from his office. I figured it would be worth the drive if he was as good as his reputation. I just saw him yesterday and he was great. Wait time in the room was less than 15 minutes and he came in with a smile on his face and happy to see me. Was not at all in a rush. Sat and talked to me until I had all my questions answered. I was very happy with my experience and look forward to years of working with Dr. Thiesz. read more

I love Dr. Theisz. His office is convenient to get to if you work in Tyson's or live in Falls Church. There's parking, I don't have trouble getting an appointment, and he is the most thorough and thoughtful doctor I've ever had. What can I say about this GREAT Dr. who I feel has become a family friend? Dr. Theisz is by far the best Dr. that I could have found for my family. We've been going to his practice for so long now that I can't remember how many years its been. I know the older boys were still in grade school and they've been out of college for a while now. Dr. Theisz has always addressed my concerns as a parent and also when I came to him for myself. He's been great with my husband and I even got my ex-husband to go to the same practice. They love our family unit. The staff has been great and knowledgeable of our needs and have taken care of all my paperwork in a timely manner. After years of "No care" Tricare, i recently changed insurance carriers and needed a new doctor. Dr Theisz was able to see me quickly about a particular symptom i was experiencing; he identified the cause right away and arranged the tests necessary to determine treatment options. He is warm and caring; he listens. I was also impressed that he mentors medical students in his office. I think that sort of personal training will contribute to a generation of doctors with an excellent bedside manner. read more

I have had a consistently poor experience here. Dr. Natsuti is scattered, she's terrified of needles (!), and almost every time I've requested a prescription refill, something goes wrong with communication between the front desk and her. I have to repeatedly call to fix the error, she will only do the bare minimum, and won't return phone calls. read more

I was recently in with my daughter to see Dr Nasuti. When we first got there, the receptionist was buried in her personal phone and didn't even look up!!! I said we were checking in, and she rudely told us to sit down. She called us up 15 minutes later to fill out new patient forms. After dealing with the rude lady at the front desk, which mind you, we didn't get taken back for 45 minutes past our appointment time, we finally got called back to see Dr Nasuti. Jeanette, the assistant, took us back to the room and she was so friendly. We had a very different experience with her! Dr Nasuti came into the room, and was very polite and friendly. She took care of my daughter's needs and problems. Upon check-out, it took 15 minutes with the same rude lady. I was trying to schedule a follow up for my daughter, but the receptionist's cellphone rang again. She didn't even tell us to hold on, she immediately got up and took the phone call. Luckily there was another receptionist who came in and took care of us! The other receptionist smiled and asked if we needed anything else. The only criticism I have is if you're going to employ a receptionist, they need to greet patients, be pleasant and kind, and not be on their personal phone acting like patients are taking up their time. The doctor was great, but based on the negative experience with the receptionist, I don't think I'll return. read more

I have been going to Dr. Theisz for over nine years as my general family doctor. I have TRICARE insurance and Dr. Theisz is one who accepts. Every time I call Dr. Theisz' office to make an appointment, I can get in the same day. I may have a 10-15 minute wait time. That's okay because when it's my turn I see three to four patients leaving that Dr. Theisz is taking care of. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Theisz spends a lot of time with federal/state administration and compliance issues. With the new guidelines set by HHS and the Affordable Care Act, I am amazed Dr. Theisz is able to see so many patients. Each encounter with Dr. Theisz is pleasant, informative, and socially fun. After I describe my issues, we talk about family, how ACA is working for him, how the technology he is using, and music. Like myself, Dr. Theisz loves music. In fact, every summer he puts on music events in the Falls Church area, and he is regularly seen at other neighborhood events. Dr. Theisz is my family doctor, and I wouldn't see it any other way! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Theisz's for over 4 years. Nearly every member of my family is a patient and we all appreciate his skills as a doctor and excellent bedside manner. Not only is he a caring doctor, he also tries to help patients get the care they need in a way that meets their needs. For example, I had a condition that needed testing and together we found a way to get the answers I needed in the least invasive way possible. when I came in the first time (March 2013), I listed several symptoms/complaints. Dr. Theisz was not concerned with my health. Rather, he was more elated that I came b/c I found good reviews and wanted to know which websites I found them on. This was the primary topic of conversation. Then I was told to come back for a physical to run a few blood tests. I came back and got my blood drawn and re-visited my symptoms/complaints, which, again, he heard nothing. He was so caught up in himself that he didn't hear what I was saying. He said he'd call me with the results of the blood tests and he sent me away with a piece of paper stating only one of the many symptoms that I was facing, and recommendations that had nothing to do with what I came in for. I've been to several doctors and specialists over the past year or so trying to find what was wrong. Most of the nurses I saw, including his, seemed overly concerned about how low my blood pressure was. I thought that was a good thing, until I looked it up on several websites to learn that I was not in a good place. They called me back to tell me my blood work was fine and that was it. I took my blood work to another doctor and she was concerned that he didn't do anything about it, but said that some doctors won't run additional tests b/c insurance doesn't cover it and they don't want to pay. I didn't understand that b/c I would've paid out of pocket, which I did for this other doctor. She ran a few more tests than Dr. Theisz did and found one of the problems. Dr Theisz found a cancerous growth that was missed by my oncologist and dermatologist. He have been so caring and compassionate. When he found out a friend of mine passed away, he called me before I left the hospital. It is hard to find a doctor who is so competent, caring and compassionate.
