It took over a week for them to send a referral (after I'd called FOUR times). Now the dr they've referred me to needs two weeks to "review" my file before they can even schedule me. I'll be out of meds by then, but that seems to be of no concern to anyone but me. The doctors care about their patients. No one else there does. I'm currently looking for a new doctor, not because I dislike the doctor I have, but because of how poorly every other aspect of the practice is handled. I would NEVER recommend EVMS to anyone. After searching and searching I found this practice and Dr. Peter Laplace through word of mouth. I am ever so glad that I did. Staff here is so friendly and helpful. I am never confused about any of the policies or billing. Appointments are easy to schedule and they even have an online patient portal for you to view your records and care plans. Having struggled for several years with a few chronic issues I am finally at a place in my physical and mental health where I'm not just getting by but am happy and on a road to healthy. This is all credited to Dr. Laplace. He listened to my issues and concerns and guided me to the best recovery path. No throwing meds at me and moving on to the next patient! We thoroughly went over the short term and long term goals and plans. Healthcare is a vital part of life and having a doctor who listens and cares is paramount to receiving the best Healthcare. That closed down a few years ago so I called Ghent location and asked if it was possible to get a copy from them. They told me they would keep my immunization copies in an envelope with my name on it at the front desk for 30 days - after that, they will shred it. I went to pick it up and upon entering was greeted by a sign that said I had to call the office. I called, was told to wait downstairs in the lobby as no patients were allowed up the stairs into the office unless specified to do so. A member of the team brought my documents, asked for ID to check it was me and I was on my way. Quick, helpful and no costs for the immunization copies. 022/2020

Before calling to get a different place from my insurance I looked on their website and social media. I came across an email and tried that. I received a response almost immediately. They called me the next day and scheduled me for my echocardiogram. I just had my echocardiogram with Josh. He was very professional and held great conversation throughout. As a female I knew I would be exposed but, Josh did a great job making me feel comfortable. They did call with my results fairly quick and mailed a report for my records. I really appreciate that report being mailed, I did not even ask for it. If I had to use a cardiologist in the future I confident so would use this location again.

Letter said that after 10 days they would send to collection agency. I have very good insurance that they had on file when I first started. I have never received a bill. I was just in for a check up on October 30th and no mention of a payment due or past due amount owed was brought to my attention. At my initial appointment we agreed that no needless tests would be done that is not covered by my insurance.

There are many…read morehealthcare services available in the building including primary care physicians and a variety of specialties. Besides clinical services there is also a full-service laboratory and diagnostic center. The building is located next to Plum Point Park on the Elizabeth River so there are wonderful scenic views from offices on the east side of the building as well as the attached parking garage. The building is always clean and well maintained. Restrooms are always clean and properly stocked and the elevators always operate correctly. I appreciate the attached parking garage which affords ample parking to access the building as well as shelter from foul weather. I have always been able to easily find available parking. Access to the garage is controlled by automated gates. Parking is free for the first two hours. If you plan to be in the building for longer than that make sure to get your parking ticket validated so you don't have to pay. I get my ticket validated in my doctor's office or the diagnostic center which are both located on the eighth floor. I have been very satisfied with my visits to this building over the years. I enjoy the convenience of getting to the plaza by car but it is also accessible by The Tide light rail system.

There are a number of buildings, including what must be EVMS housing. Not only is it less crowded & easier to navigate than the labyrinth of the "across the street" complex, the main building that houses most of the patient related offices is very patient friendly. The above describes building has an attached parking garage with an easy to access elevator opening to each floor's small lobby. There are handicapped parking spaces directly adjacent to the glass enclosed elevator. For evening appointments, a security guard is stationed in the elevator area. Walking is at a minimum, which is perfect for me. My Cardiology Practice is located in the building as is the Sentara Sleep Center, which I've also visited numerous times. If your doctor orders lab work, you only have to take the elevator to the Sentara Fort Norfolk Diagnostic Center. Fort Norfolk Medical Plaza is easy to access, not just from Norfolk, but also Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk & Western Branch. It is very near the spot where Brambleton forks into the Midtown Tunnel & Hampton Boulevard. There is a Light Rail stop at Fort Norfolk for those who don't like to drive, Coming from Virginia Beach, one can make an easy trip via I-264 taking the best route through Waterside to Bousch to Brambleton. I usually make the return trip on the surface streets ending up on Princess Ann/Northhampton. Do you know why it's called Fort Norfolk? Guarding the Norfolk side of the Elizabeth River & Harbor is the fully restored War of 1812 era Fort Norfolk. It is currently only manned by ghosts of the past. But if you're lucky enough to secure a tour you can experience 21st century men re-enacting their 19th century forebears. Learning the history of Fort Norfolk will make you happy to be treading on historical footprints, if only for a doctors appointment.
