The gym is under new ownership. Would not recommend!!! Owners do not treat staff well nor do they handle parent communication well either.

The lady that answered the phone is very intense... I was just asking how much I should pay if I want to register my daughter for more than one class per week. She didn't even let me finish my sentence ... she was immediately saying no that is not possible to take more than one class. I think she was quickly assuming that I want to just pay for one and no for the other one. Very disappointed. She has not even started, and I already found this is not a place for my daughter. The easy answer should be well just pay double or something like that or whatever is the tuition if you want to take more than one class per week. After probably 10 min. she realized what I was really asking and she said yes you just pay the tuition twice. Terrible place starting at the front desk !!! read more

As a former athlete and employee of Rowland/ Ballard, I am so dissapointed to see what the establishment is now becoming. For over 40 years Rowland/ Ballard has had an upstanding reputation and it was this same reputation that was the reason I was signed up for classes as a child. For 15 years I loved going to the gym and it became my home. My coaches were the greatest role models I could have asked for and thet not only trained me to be a hard working athlete, but more so a mature and respectful young woman. My coaches at RB cared more about growing us as genuine and kind humans rather than creating gymnast robots- for this I am forever grateful for the gym and coaches that raised me. Now, however, is a different story. Under new ownership and new coaching, the gym I once knew is now just a strange building. The new owners have cut the Junior Olympic Gymnastics team program with almost no warning to over 60+ athletes, most of which were not even done with their competition season. This decision came after all staff and parents were told "no changes will be made" by the new owners. This news left the entire RB family shocked and forced many athletes to find a new gym and new coaches. The strain that this change can have on a child is tremendous. I am dissapointed myself in the new ownership to make a decision like this one. Rowland/ Ballard still has many good coaches and staff members left who I love dearly. If you are looking for a recreational or cheerleading class I still recommend it. However if you would like you athlete to progress in the sport of gymnastics, save yourself some time and try a different gym. read more

Coach David damaged my daughter's confidence as an athlete. We landed at Rowland Ballard in Kingwood the first year they had a competitive team. They told us the team at Rolland Ballard in Atascocita was full. The first year was all training and no competing. However at the end of the year my daughter competed in her first team meet (against all her teammates). The competition ended with my daughter placing first in two events, second in one event and FIRST OVERALL!! However, by the time the season started for her to compete against other teams, she didn't even make the roster to compete; she was an alternate. The gym we previously came from, we done privates every single week because I know my child needs 1:1 attention. When I asked the coach David if he could work us in privates he said, "they currently weren't offering any" he even brought his assistant coach over to further confirm that there were no privates at that time. However, after sitting in the parent area during practice, I heard another mom talking about how her daughter was taking privates every week...I confronted him about it and of course he was then willing to take my money and do privates. After two seasons with this team and slowly seeing all the other athletes become better and better and my daughter remain at the ability she was when we first came was frustrating. Coach David told some of the older the girls (including Kaleah) they would have to try out for the team at the Atascocita location. I then asked if he would work with her on her back handspring before tryouts. His response "you can work with her, because I've tried." I walked out of there and never paid that place another dime. I tried to get my daughter to join other gyms for gymnastics but she refused. What I didn't find out until recently is, that that same day we left, during practice he called the girls in one by one and what he told my daughter was "You're older and tall; maybe you should try another sport like swim or something" If I wasn't before, I am utterly disgusted. My daughter was only 9yrs old at the time. A supposed Coach is always supposed to build up their athletes, not tear them down! read more

My five year old daughter attends ballet class here every Tuesday evening, she loves ballet and is always thrilled to begin class. This place was highly recommended by people in my community, it's definitely got a good repetition and that is extremely important to a dancer. The staff and instructors have always been very helpful and kind, I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say. The Ballet class that my daughter attends is very reasonably priced and I feel that it is worth every penny spent. Only thing that I would try to improve is the parking lot situation, it becomes very crowded leaving zero available parking spots and creating a somewhat unsafe environment for smaller children outside. This gym was a complete disappointment for my athlete. We searched the area in order to find a more competitive gymnastics program- this seemed like the solution!! Little did we know that the gym had recently been acquired by a different company with plans to overhaul the entire gymnastics program and transition to an excel program. We started the gym in January, apparently they had sold the gym in July 2022- none of which was communicated to us upon joining. The coaches were demotivated, awaiting the decision to either be fired or for them to move on. The entire experience has been abysmal and absolutely disappointing. Lack of communication- the sole goal is profit. And, to add insult to injury, during the information session for parents, we received nothing but a lecture on the virtues of excel gymnastics. Stay away unless you truly only desire a recreational gym. read more

"Father's not allowed" Trying to sign up my daughter for the dance recital I've been paying $300 a month for, and I was turned away by Ms. Gloria and told "dads are not allowed." I suppose single dad's are not allowed at this school, nor children who don't have a mother. That have male teachers, male administrators, male directors, teenaged male "helpers" at the dance but dad's are not allowed to sign their daughters in nor accompany them. read more

Rowland Ballard Kingwood has been a place of positivity. I believe the coaches there are quite positive and have believed in many children's success. It is truly a diverse atmosphere. Growth and progression has never come faster. If you're looking for a place to be, this is it. read more

if you look at the reviews before 2023, you will see good reviews. after these new owners took over, it has gone downhill. they do not care about the athletes, it's all about the money which shows with the significant price increase and getting rid of the competitive teams. They would have had an amazing level 3 team this year if they kept it together. My daughter was always at the top, but since she can't compete with her friends from Rowland, she has lost her motivation and love for gymnastics. powers gymnastics bought them out as they do with other gems, but they don't want to put heir own name on it so you see what kind of scum bags they are messing up all of these gyms and lying. I will never give them another penny and I will never recommend them to anyone. STAY AWAY From this place. it is a disappointment. read more

As a former employee of many years I am extremely disappointed about what this gym has become. I would strong blame management and ownership for many of the problems Rowland Ballard has had. Working here was an absolute nightmare. We were promised raises and when they would give us them it took weeks for them to implement them. People who were being hired during new ownership made 12$-20$ while employees who were there for years were making 8.50$-12$. The management does not care about employees or customers. The gym it self is a safety hazar. There is improper decking under very heavy beams and in the pits. The block pits are filled with cockroaches and urine. There is mold on mats and mats stacked up very high. The gym is NEVER deep cleaned (MAYBE once a year). These children's interests and safety are not important to ownership and managemen. DO NOT WORK HERE OR SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. read more

Nope. STAY AWAY. Rowland Ballard has recently been sold to new owners and what was once a wonderful home for many families and athletes in the community has changed and not for the good. There has been ZERO communication from the new owners - Powers Gymnastics Group (Jill Powers and Trevor Thompson) - since they have taken over. People literally found out the gym was sold on Facebook! We were told they would introduce themselves - they never did. We were told there would be "no changes." Lies. The Dance director who's been there for decades is now gone and the gymnastics Director, who's been there 20 years, was fired, without being given a reason (which we also found out about on Facebook!) And now, they just cut the ENTIRE team program leaving every single one of those 60+ girls heartbroken and either scrambling to find a new gym or leaving them no choice but to quit the sport they love. It is VERY clear they do not care about the loyal coaching staff, the parents, or the athletes. They do not care AT ALL about what this has done to the girls, their families, or the coaches and their families! Do NOT give them a penny! read more

Absolutely love RB Gymnastic Team!! Our oldest daughter has been in other gyms and with other coaches but David helped her flourish and blossom as a gymnast without forgetting that she is still a child. He has always treats us, parents, with respect and includes us in the decision making process. He is tough & fair... encourages them to reach their goals while having fun. We love that he is all about child being well rounded and that gymnastic should not be their only love in life. Our daughter has gotten stronger reaching her goals of competing: State, District, South State, and International meets (golds, silvers, and bronzes)! For gymnastics: we recommend both recreational & competitive. For ballet: any stage highly recommended Our youngest is in ballet now and loves Miss Kelly's creative dance programs. Started attending classes here at age 6. Now 17 years later, I still love the quality of ballet that they instruct. Their gymnastics program is thriving and although the parking is a little tough it is well worth the quality of service and experience. Thanks Rowland Ballard! read more

My daughter has been a dance student at Rowland/Ballard for more than 10 years, and we're so happy she has been able to receive high caliber classical ballet training right near our home. She started in the creative dance program at 3 years old and is now a member of Kingwood Dance Theatre (KDT), a pre-professional ballet program that's housed at Rowland/Ballard. All of the dance staff from ballet, modern, and jazz to tap have been outstanding. Not only do they bring professional experience and/or training to the students, but they're also very encouraging and nurturing. Under the direction of Sheryl Rowland, the students enjoy performing in the annual Nutcracker and storybook ballets, which also help them to gain valuable stage experience in their dance training. The KDT Nutcracker has been a community staple for more than 30 years! Our daughter is very happy with the training she has received at Rowland/Ballard. We've also witnessed Rowland/Ballard and KDT alumni continue their training into college and in the professional dance world. read more

Every child is treated well and lots of opportunities for kids to develop to their full potential. I do find their parking lot to be an absolute nightmare with very small places and crowded. I hope they will relocate to a better facility someday (kingwood location). I know several people that said it is not worth the risk to their car so they go somewhere else which is a shame. I try to look past it because of the well trained professional staff and great programs. But I do have some door dents from this place over the years with their tiny parking spaces. And we now park at CVS to walk to Rowland. It is a bit over crowded in the parent watching areas and parents block the hallways if the child is in the ballet first room when you enter the building. They have outgrown their space. I do find that the variety of programs they offer keep kids interested and makes it fun. Thumbs up for wonder teachers and programs and thumbs down for facility. I also like their new online billing and signup system. Their summer pre-K program school is fantastic. read more
