Roux Royale is a souvenir style shop located in the French Quarter that is packed to the brim, from floor to ceiling and wall to wall with souvenirs, clothing, decor and more. We popped by in search of a few silly souvenirs to take home to folks and while we didn't get any souvenirs, we did find a great cookbook of all things New Orleans that caught our attention! We gifted it to our Cajun loving friend for her birthday, so it all worked out! Prices were a bit high, but we expected it knowing it was a souvenir shop in the French Quarter. Service was fine. No major issues, but wouldn't classify it as "friendly" either. Overall, solid shop to waste a few minutes in on your mission to find the perfect souvenir...or kitchen towel! read more

Such a fun store... Large selection of Mardi Gras decor and had fun looking and getting ideas for my upcoming Mardi Gras Party. This is a more upscale souvenir store and is a great place to look for items to bring home from your visit to New Orleans. You can find everything from T's to ornaments along with table wear. Love shopping and browsing whenever I am in town. Items tend to be higher here but it is a one stop shop if looking for gifts. read more

What a gem of a shop! ROUX Royale is such a fun and charming spot, filled with unique gifts and souvenirs that truly capture the spirit of New Orleans. I was on the hunt for postcards and was delighted to find a wide range of local recipe and photo postcards for a decent price. This is the kind of store you can happily spend a lot of time exploring, with something new and interesting around every corner. The atmosphere is welcoming, helpful and the selection is both thoughtful and playful. I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm in town! read more

I was walking around the Quarter looking for a place to pick up some gifts for friends and I wondered in here. This charming family-owned shop has a variety of unique items for the kitchen and entertaining needs. They also sell gourmet food, candies, cookbooks, t-shirts, and New Orleans themed gift items. Their kitschy kitchen towels made me laugh. I picked up a few gifts and some of their hand-made soft caramels, which were delicious! I came back a few days later to pick up some more gifts and those yummy caramels. Both times the sales associates delivered service with a smile. read more

I discovered Roux Royale through a food tour and we had the "Praline in a Cookie" cookies and they were AMAZING. Delicious butter cookies with an ever better praline filling. This was the first stop on our tour and the cookies lived in my mind rent-free all night so I headed back to Roux Royale the next day to buy some to bring home. Since the first time I came was with a food tour, we did not enter the store, so when I came back I was surprised to see that they sell a lot of other things - things a NOLA tourist would love! Even though I only went in for cookies, I left with 2 packs of cookies, magnets, soft salted caramels, praline pecans, and a mini king cake. The staff was very friendly, even though we were tipsy (and probably a little annoying lol). Next time I come to NOLA, because I'll definitely be back, I'll be stopping by Roux Royale for some Praline in a Cookie cookies! read more

My cellphone was busy recharging up from zero and I had no access to my NOLA itinerary when I just happened upon this corner shop - Roux Royale. By the time I entered through their doors, I had already popped into a number of their competitors. I knew I wanted to take home some Cafe du Monde beignet mixes to give away and had been checking out the prices. They are heavy, so I figured I would pick up a few $3.99 boxes over at one of the gifts shops closer to the hotel (Royal Praline Company). They were $4.06 at Cafe du Monde gift shop, so $3.99 seemed a good price. But then I found them for $3.49 at Roux Royale! Yup, I bought them here. read more

What a fun little store. Located in the French Quarter that is frequented by pedestrians, we stopped by before the start of our walking tour. We really enjoyed all their different little knick knacks mostly oriented to those who enjoy cooking or decorating their kitchen. If you're looking for a souvenir to take home to someone that really says "New Orleans" this is it. they have everything from candy to spices to beautifully decorated dishes. If you join the food tour, you get a discount with the sticker that you get at the beginning of your walk. Remember to try their samples! Some delicious candies to be had. read more

This is a great spot for souvenir shopping in the French Quarter! I actually went in here 2 separate times and did the majority of my souvenir shopping here. The prices were good, and the store pretty much has something NOLA for everybody! I wound up getting a couple coffee mugs, some magnets, some pralines, some Cajun seasoning, and some Cafe De Monde beignet mix, all for a good price. I also wound up getting some Tobasco flavored chocolate for myself, which was interesting to say the least, lol. The service here was also friendly as well. Such a cute souvenir shop! They only have old-timey "past" cards, but they have the cutest home goods and kitchen tools/decorations. Since we went in December, they were quite festive with the Christmas theme. They have a variety of shot glasses, but some of the same glasses are actually cheaper across the street. The dishtowels and the magnets and decorative wood pieces have the funniest sayings. They also had a rack dedicated to napkins with wine puns. I just love this place. I came here when I first visited New Orleans and got a few things for my kitchen. Now, I recently started working on the same block as Roux Royale and decided to stop in on my way home as I needed to kill some time. It always smells so yummy in the store-like pralines, butter, bananas, pecans. Basically it smells like a big southern dessert, and who doesn't love that smell? I also love their kitchen decor. Their inventory doesn't change too often (aside from their seasonal items) because it is a tourist store, but I think their decor is much nicer/classier than some of the other tourist stores in the area. The prices are fairly reasonable as well. When I first visited, I purchased a decorative towel for my kitchen. Today, I bought some pralines, praline honey butter and another decorative towel. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from the pralines, but I'm on a quest to try all of the pralines in Nola so figured I'd try these out. These pralines were amazing-I got the chewy praline and the praline patty. As much as I love southern candy makers pralines, I actually preferred Roux Royale's pralines. As of now, they are some of the best I've tried (aside from southern candymakers which has more traditional pralines) If you are visiting New Orleans, definitely check out Roux Royale! read more

Great store with great hours. I was able to find a lot of different gifts for people and some fun little things for myself as well. They have great cook books and cook wear. We bought an awesome trivet and some great coasters. The staff is very helpful and personable. I really like this shop. It's moderately priced, with tons of cute stuff for your kitchen or someone else's kitchen if you're in the giving mood. I almost bought a wine bottle stopper in the shape of a large diamond, but then I remembered that the top shelf of my fridge can barely fit a wine bottle as is! There are lots of towels, coasters, kitchen gadgets and items for entertaining with cutesy New Orleans phrases or decor. Unlike some of the crowded shops around here, namely the voodoo souvenir shops, the traffic pattern in here makes sense. I recently visited New Orleans for a medical meeting and discovered this fabulous place while walking. The merchandise is very artistic, whimsical, and unique. I also loved and appreciate the lovely artwork hanging on the shop walls. When I questioned the staff about buying and shipping large art pieces, they were very helpful and offered to work with me no matter what.
