leaking hot water heater=less than 2 weeks after new heater installed... $900 for 1.5 hours of labor, and it's gone down the drain...

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Horrible customer service, and they do not honor their guarantee on their work. I spent $900 for 1.5 hours of work installing my new hot water heater (labor only-I purchased the heater myself at home depot. They installed the hot water heater on 09/06/2022. They said I had a year service guarantee. Now, less than 2 weeks later, my hot water heater is leaking and the alarm is going off. I called their office and the receptionist, Julie, was very rude and was giving me the run around about having them fix my problem. When the technician, David, comes out, he gets very defensive and says that my valves are the problem. He says that since I bought my own water heater, they do not honor the service guarantee. They can fix it, but for another $1,000. I suspected something was fishy when the inspector came out after the installation and was surprised with the way they had installed it and the materials that they used. He even called them to ask them why they used those materials. If the valves were bad, why did they still install the water heater and take my money and run? I should have also been suspicious when they initially gave me an estimate for $2,400, and then I got the same estimate from Home Depot for $1350. Home Depot was going to install the next day, so when they called me later to follow up about their estimate, I told them of the price difference, and they agreed to match the labor cost if I bought my own water heater. They could install it that day, so I agreed. That was a huge mistake! Please be careful and do not make the same mistake I did. I will never use them again!

Absolutely terrible... estimate was outrageous because the work was in a tight spot. Labor rate is $500+/hr. Are you kidding me!!!

I talked with several plumbing companies, most them wanted to re-attempt snaking, which I had already done twice with no result. If that didn't work then they would use the hydro jet high-pressure washer to attempt to clear. Our house being 60+ years old I did not want to risk the hydro-jetting, which could severely damage the piping under the slab, until the line was cleared. What I really needed was to know if I had a cleanout on the main sewer line where it exits the house and those companies wanted a additional large sum of money to use a camera with a locating sensor only after the line was cleared and flowing. We had used Mr Rooter in the past (before purchasing the 50' snake machine) so I called and asked them to have their most experienced tech call me. Albert called me back, he actually still had me as a contact in his phone after many years, and we discussed the situation and decided on a plan. Albert came out and used his camera and locator from the main roof vent to locate the blockage and where the main line exited the house. They tried the longest snake machine they could lift on the roof but it would not reach the blockage. Since they could not clear the blockage Albert said there was a 30 day warranty on the callout and that if I could find the existing cleanout or dig the line out and install one, he would come back and re-run the snake from there and clear it. I found the cleanout and Albert came back, ran the snake and cleared the blockage and ran his camera thru the lines to make sure it was clear and had no damage or remaining issues. Albert is very knowledgeable and friendly, explained things well and is a very skilled camera technician, the charges were reasonable and fair. Overall a fantastic experience and will continue to use Mr Rooter if problems arise again!
