I was really disappointed with my past few experiences. I really wanted to find a small business to support with car repairs. It's hard to justify $112 for an oil change (and that's with a AAA discount-which is a plus for this business). In addition to a standard oil change, I also had asked for the tires to be checked because of a leak. This was noted on my intake form, but they never looked at it until I mentioned it at pick up time. Why have an intake form if you don't look at it? To top it off, the tire was still leaking, so the problem wasn't truly fixed and I had to take it to someone else to fix. My first time here I was really excited because it felt like they put more care and attention into my car then the other big brand shops do, but this past experience made me feel like I was just another paycheck. My car is a large part of my job so I need to make sure it's safe and reliable and I need to know those caring for it are attentive and able to check things I don't even think ask to check. I have no doubt that this may have been an off day, but it was potentially an off day that caused a ripple effect to my job. read more

This place is beyond awesome... my alternator went out a couple months ago, and AAA towed me to this place. It was the closest facility. They did a great job then to get me out as quickly as possible. Yesterday my battery light came on again, and I thought great... here we go again... I limped into Route 66 and they remembered me... said don't worry it's under warranty, they'd take care of it... once they got into the job it was discovered that it wasn't the alternator but the bracket... they fixed the bracket, and charged me a fraction of what they could have... the bracket wasn't part of the original warranty. This is customer service beyond exemplary... I live 40 miles away but if I need service, I'd bring it here. Finding a good and honest mechanic is so incredible in this day... When you take your car in for repair, you hope you find a place that will treat you honestly. This is the place! We brought our LEXUS 430 in for overheating, thinking it was something small like a thermostat. Well it was a blown head gasket and Preston explained to my wife how they came to that conclusion. Not knowing for sure, we checked with our usual mechanic in Riverside who replaced our radiator, and he agreed with the diagnosis. We made the decision not to repair, but to buy..and unfortunately, they lost a $5,000 ticket. But with the age of the car, they agreed with the decision. Luckily for them, we have another vehicle that needs TLC and we will bring it back. It's also a AAA repair shop, so members can get a discount. Do not rent a U-haul from this place! I made a reservation over a week in advance to rent a truck on my moving day. When I came in they said they saw my reservation in the system but did not have the truck on the lot and didn't have any others available. They directed us to a U-haul center in Pomona and assured us that they had one and that they had redirected our reservation. When we got to the center in Pomona they said there was no truck for us there. The reservation being moved over there did not mean they had a truck on site. The staff at Route 66 Auto Repair had already dropped the ball by not having our truck, and then they didn't even check to verify that the center in Pomona had a truck before sending us there! We finally got a U-haul at a gas station in Pomona but we were late for our move-in appointment at our leasing office. Horrible and careless customer experience - would not recommend to anyone looking to rent a truck! read more

I do feel that his false statements must be clarified, to really understand his poor business practices. I am just reviewing what happened to me. Imagine what it would be like to receive a quote of $1,600 and end up paying $1,000 more, and then it STILL didn't work. This was ONLY for the transmission. Period. This business received the full amount of money to do the repairs. $300 was paid by Foothill Family Shelter. Route 66 does NOT give discounts or give away free work to the shelter. Was waiting on AAAto send tow truck to have my car towed to these guys,and AAA couldn't get it right sent out to of the same two trucks which neither could help me due to my car being completely dead and not being able to get it netural. They are not at all pushy and will definitely help you with finding the cheapest route that'll get you back on the road with your car running great again. The manager Frank is very nice guy that spent extra time showing me and explaining some of the broken parts that came out out of my car and that were replaced and how to avoid the issue in the future. Frank and Chuck were both extremely helpful, honest and took care of all the issues my FJ Cruiser was having without cleaning out my wallet. How many repair shops actually take photos of the problems as they find them and offer to email them to you? None that I've ever been to, not even the dealership! It's nice to have everything so well documented. Not only did they fix the issues I was having, but they gave me tips on how to keep them from happening again and answered questions that I had that were completely unrelated to the repairs they did. I found this place after returning my u-haul to them. They where very nice so I thought I would have them do my oil change on my car. Once again they where friendly and did it in a quick manner. Shortly after I noticed a leak in my car on the driveway so I called and made an appointment. Took it in left it and was called a few hours later that they could not find anything wrong except that it was low on transmission fluid. They said to drive it and keep an eye on it. Then proceeded to charge me 120.00.....Telling me that if something came up with it they would put that money toward the fix. I did not feel right about it but thought ok they are trustworthy. Drove the car for a week give or take things seemed ok. until the car started lurching. I parked it and the next morning after finding another shop tried to drive it there but it would not even go into gear. The other shop found the problem and was able to fix it with no problem. Really nice people but why they could not find the problem and then felt like they should charge me so much to fix nothing makes me wonder about their business practice. read more
