Just moved to the area. People at this location are very rude. I've been there 3 times, but this last time was the rudest experience of the three. Brittany was my cashier at the express lane. I greeted her and she said hello. Rang up a few items. And paid cash. Then she had the worst attitude and comment regarding how I chose to pay. She did not like the choice of paper money I handed her. Rather than keep her comments to herself, she made a point of saying it out loud. Cash is cash. After these experiences, I see no reason to return to Rouses. It may be convenient to the neighborhood, but I don't need smart mouth young people with attitudes ruining my day. read more

I am a huge fan of Rouses Market and whenever I am in this part of the southeastern United States and I am close enough to one of their locations. Rouses Market was started by Anthony Rouse, Sr. back in 1960 with a single location in Houma, Louisiana. It has since expanded to over sixty locations across three states (Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama). The thing that I like best about Rouses Market are the local items and I am always heading home with several items that I simply cannot get in Florida. I picked up some local food stuff that I can only find in Cajun country. The staff at this location was friendly and professional and this store is pleasant and welcoming. All in all, I would definitely recommend this location of Rouses Market or any Rouses Market location for that matter. If you are in the area, come check them out. I've emailed Donald Rouse with absolutely NO RESPONSE so I guess I'll just leave a review. This store is crap. The workers are decent but the groceries are crap. There is so limited selection it's ridiculous and what they do have is low quality. I've felt this way for a long time but tonight, well takes the cake! We bought (against better judgement) some live crawfish because it's all we could find and they are absolutely the worst crawfish I've ever had! So many dead, what was alive was not lively AT ALL! $120 down the drain for our anniversary meal. Claiborne's or Walmart will get our business from now on!!! Donald, you suck! read more

Nice smaller format Rouses store, just off I-10 in Diamondhead, MS. The wine & liquor department is much smaller than what you'll find in most of the NOLA area stores, but probably meets the needs of the local residents. Stopped in for a light lunch and a king cake. The store was clean and offered all I needed... a fresh sushi roll for the road and a cinnamon king cake for friends and family in Florida. just nowNEW-Edit I live in Scotland and was going to be staying in Pass Christian for a week with some friends. We ordered a load of food at Rouses via the catering department. It was honestly the best thing we done. From the first email I sent to Stevi Martin (which was responded in 2 minutes!!) to the pick up of the food - the whole process was faultless. Stevi is amazing and so efficient. Chuck at the Diamondhead store was so friendly. I received email updates and paid immediately. The only tiny downfall was when I went to collect the food, the girl I spoke to wasn't sure I had paid despite me showing her all the correspondence. She absolutely did not believe I had paid and kept me waiting while she went off - for quite some time - to check this. I had shown her my emails but it wasn't enough. I just feel that part of my experience with Rouses shouldn't have happened. We spent a lot of money and had proof we had paid but she didn't believe us. I told her to please go and get Chuck the manager. I am confident that Chuck is unaware of this - I was kept waiting at least 20 minutes before I was finally told it was okay to leave the store.......................not good. I had also ordered a large cake and when I asked this same girl where it was, she told me to go up to bakery and ask for it. I told her no, can YOU go and get it please. She definitely did not want to help, couldn't be bothered and was not in the slightest bit helpful. But................at the very end when she FINALLY realised we HAD paid she said to me "tell Chuck that you have had great service today". I was genuinely shocked at her but having travelled so long from Scotland I just wanted to get the food and leave the store. Chuck was lovely. He was very friendly. The food was AMAZING - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I would recommend anyone to place an order with the catering department at Rouses...............but hopefully not get that girl at the Diamondhead store! read more

Rouses in Diamondhead is significantly better than a lot of Gulf Coast grocery stores. I am a huge fan of the Rouses chain of grocery stores. They're my go-to spot for groceries in Louisiana. Ever since I set foot in their Houma location one Christmas that I was visiting my dad, I was hooked. Rouses will always be local to me, even when I am in Mississippi. I had been to the Rouses in Gulfport a while back and was unaware that they had any other coast locations. I found this one when a buddy and I were discussing the finer points of hog head cheese. He mentioned this location as a place to pick some up so off I went. If you are used to the full service Rouses grocery experience, you will not find it here. This is a smaller than normal store, but it still has a lot of what you like about the Rouses chain. What it doesn't have is a meat counter. Dude, every store needs a meat counter. There is a great selection of pre-packaged meats and pre-made food items, but sometimes I want to pick my steak. I know it is a minor thing, but that will likely prevent this store from being my regular grocery stop on the coast. I'll still come here if I am nearby, but I seriously like picking my own steak. On other potential negative for Louisiana folks is not Rouses fault at all. Mississippi in their wisdom doesn't allow liquor sales at grocery stores. I think there should be a special dispensation for Louisiana owned businesses, but again, I am a rando. In closing, I want to say I love Rouses. If you are going somewhere like Winn-Dixie you really need to drive the extra minutes and get to this store. You will thank me later. read more

I wanted a special bday cake for my boyfriend and I got what i asked for! I showed the lady in the bakery department a pic of something similar and she made it even BETTER! Very please and happy with the results! I most definitely will come back to have my cakes down there. I will definitely recommend this place to thumbs up. read more

High quality stock. Have items you cannot find at other Markets. They also have an amazing Sushi section. Unfortunately I ordered our Thanksgiving dinner prepared by them. The cornbread dressing was inedible. It was made with the sweet cornbread, no seasoning & very mushy. After adding seasonings & cooking for couple hours was still very mushy & sweet. I had to find open market & get stovetop stuffing. Do not recommend their dressing. read more

I bought the macaroon cake and was quite pleased with the moist light cake and creamy icying however, the macaroons which nestled on top were very soggy. Macaroons should be crisp and crunchy. I was disappointed but the remaining parts of cake pushed it to 4 stars. However, I will not be buying this cake again. read more

What happened to the Diamondhead Rouses? It is not the same store that it was a couple of years ago. The produce department, in particular, is sparsely stocked and what is there is usually not good and fresh. The selection has scaled down too. Used to, you could get more types of veggies. Plus, the choice of brands has scaled down too, and not the store is filled with Rouses' own brand or Best Choice products. The only area of the store that seems to function well, with great employees, is the deli/cheese/bakery area. I sure don't want to have to drive to either Slidell or Gulfport to shop at Rouses, or worse, go to Walmart. read more

This supermarket is A OK. I use it on a weekly basis and have never had a problem other than the high prices. Of course it is one of two supermarkets in Hancock County, beats driving to WalMart for food. Always clean and has a good hot food bar where the locals go to eat. read more

Rouses market in Diamondhead has quality food and products but it is small. As previously mentioned, it is one of two stores in Hancock County. A new Claiborne Hill grocery has started construction in Waveland, MS. Rouses is now building a much bigger store to be opened around the same time.Local residents have been dealing with the lack of grocery stores for over 6 years.The ONLY reason I see Rouses concerned about expansion is that competition is coming to town. Why didn't they do it sooner? Hopefully the competition will help the consumer with lower prices. WalMart can afford to undercut ANYONE and they WILL, I hope the citizens of Hancock County support the other grocery stores when they open. If not then We all lose. read more

Can't believe they built this beautiful new store and didn't make the aisles any wider than the old one. I find it very had to navigate the aisles when there are other shoppers in them. I also feel every time i shop there is always someone stocking shelves and just makes the problem worse. I also feel the selection is very limited. However the staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. I will only go there for the milk and bread type items. Anything more just leaves me frustrated. read more

The people who work here are nice but some of the people who shop here are the snottiest, rudest, meanest old people I have encountered. On many occasions I have had to return produce, meat and diary because it was bad or had expired. They also never give to the fallen fireman's fund. It is not a charitable store to the community. When I ask them to stock something they never do and never let me know if they cannot fill it even though they say they will. I'd rather travel 10 miles then shop here. read more

Prices can be high on some items; however, generally they are competitive. We LOVE our Rouses. They stock more items than most groceries. Even with military commissary privileges, we shop at Rouse's at least once a week. Love their bulk foods, cheeses and deli, also fairly good selection of organics. Employees are awesome, too.
