Cabbage is $.28 a pound, the cheapest I've ever seen anywhere.
Crystal B.

One of the many grocery stores here in NOLA and although they're not my absolute favorite, I am a frequent flyer. I'm really in and out because I'm focused on what I need. I will say, Rouses do have great sales too. Their cabbage was $.28 a pound for New Year's and I loaded up. The sushi is also very fresh and delish! Now, what I didn't know is that their deli makes amazing food. The salad bar has lots of options, the hot food bar has breakfast in the morning and lunch in the afternoon and the fried chicken is da bomb. It's very juicy, well seasoned and fried to perfection. Now I'm thinking about the chicken festival. I cannot wait to go the Fried Chicken Festival; I digress but New Orleans has a festival for just about anything you can think of. Rouses: The produce is fresh but is a bit on the pricey side. I like to buy most of my produce in bulk and freeze them so I go to Restaurant Depot. Needless to say, they're a great local store and I'll be back.

Rouses gumbo base, plus our rice and shrimp. Slam-dunk!
Cindy H.

We live in the Pontalba on Jackson Square, so we are a half block walk from the Royal Street Rouses where we're already frequent shoppers. But hubby happened to be out in Gretna, and decided to stop by this much larger branch. Among his purchases - two small containers of gumbo, ready made. He brought these home, and we added some large shrimp, and boiled up a pot of rice. Gotta tell you: terrific. Since we are 'gumbo snobs", we are pretty damn fussy. I was surprised that anything prepared and sold by a large market could be this good. Gold stars!!!

Bad news: rouses was apparently hit by a nuclear bomb. Good news: our cake barely made it out alive

That's convenient, since poke is the new super-cool thing and there are no places dedicated to the stuff anywhere on the Westbank.

I've used it for grocery pick up a few times. Convenient. So why 5 stars? 2 things about this location. In the Aftermath of Hurricane IDA, they were open FAST, within 5 days and had gas. This next observation might only be for this location but it stopped me in my tracks. The first time I went, we had to park in the lot next door and walk in. No problem (the lot was reserved for employee use only). As we were leaving our cart halted short of our destination, so we asked the security guard if we could grab an unlocked cart (our issue was remedied). It's what I saw that was the real eye opener, I witnessed a Walmart employee come bring the young man a plate of food. Whoa. That was cool. Then the second time I went, there were soooooo many employees rushing to stock the shelves and it happened again. Over the intercom this time. "Attention all visiting associates, there are refreshments in the break room " Walmart did you actually bring in people to help get us groceries on the shelves? Did your staff have the courtesy to take care of their staff and those supporting them? Wow! Double wow! It makes me feel a little better to know that this location has it going on, no matter who's idea it was.....it was a great one.

Better than the long lines in the crowded Super Walmarts, however, you still deal with long lines…read more The upside to these locations is the fact that the crowds are far and few in between. The downside to these locations is that you have to watch your expiration dates like a hawk. There is alot of expired food on the shelves at these stores. Im not sure if they are the runoff for the larger locations. Just keep an eye out for the no goods when you are shopping at a smaller chain.

I was in town visiting, so I didn't have a place to be while I waited. The store was very clean and put together. I found it to be clean on the outside as well. Shoutout to whoever has the janitorial account, because yall are doing a great job! I found a simple snack in the produce section, but took a stroll to check out the Walmart as a whole (since I had the time to burn). There was plenty to do and a Philly Cheesesteak restaurant in the Walmart, as well as a nail salon and other things. The self checkout was pretty advanced and clean as well! I really have no complaints. I had a simple need and this Walmart did what I needed it to do.

The experience of shopping in person is miserable, due to long lines, slow service, and a minimal number of self checkouts. Avoiding this with pickup orders isn't much better. I have waited multiple times for 40+ minutes with no service, and no answers to repeated calls to the store, to the point that I leave and cancel my order. I was recently denied when trying to return an item I ordered online so I had to mail it in instead. The Tchoup Walmart is an unfair embarrassment to the community it should ostensibly serve.

During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
