Deboned stuffed chicken with shrimp and rice dressing 10/10 delicious. Cornbread and crawfish stuffing equally amazing.

We have purchased and shipped to California: -turducken -stuffed deboned turkey (cornbread dressing) -stuffed chicken (crawfish rice & shrimp dressing) - sides of cornbread, crawfish rice & shrimp rice dressing - stuffed Pork chops - seafood gumbo (lots of crab meat) - shrimp & crawfish etouffee -turducken & pork sausage - jalepeno cheddar brisket sausage. The stuffed turkey and chickens are fabulous. We love the traditional cornbread dressing for holidays. The shrimp rice / crawfish rice stuffed chickens, I keep in the freezer for weeknight meals. It makes the best chicken and rice dinner. The gumbo is delicious, as is the crawfish and shrimp etouffee. I keep quarts of the etouffee and gumbo in my freezer for quick easy meals. The sausages are amazing, the jalepeno cheddar brisket sausage and turducken sausage are family favorites and I keep them frozen and serve over polenta for weeknight dinner. Overall very high quality food you would expect from New Orleans. The stuffed turkeys and turducken are foolproof & effortless for holidays meals. Everyone raves about them! But don't overlook the stuffed chickens, side dishes, and sausages. The chickens make for the best roast chicken dinners ever! They are so delicious and with the shrimp or crawfish stuffing it makes for an easy fantastic chicken and rice meal. Highly recommended 10/10

When one does not feel like cooking, Butcher Block is a great option. Nice employees, usually no wait. Ambiance: n/a. My favorites are: their bread pudding is fiya fiya and comes with a sweet sauce. Also crawfish & corn soup, de-boned chicken with sausage, shrimp, and crawfish, and rice dressing. Items come seasoned already and their are easy instructions on packaging to follow for preparing at home.

For years we have been talking about getting a turducken and as a surprise for Mother's Day, ordered one from this shop via gold belly. One hundred percent satisfied. thought it might be too spicy but the spice blend was delicious! added some drippings to gravy from a jar and WOW! Plenty of big slices of turkey/duck/chicken/stuffing, plus leftovers for all. Easy meal. Super easy carving. Everyone was so excited to see inside as I carved it. Don't know how they do this but it had to be quite a bit of work. Packaged with extreme care, it arrived on exact date it was supposed to. Would buy again.

For years as a child, I heard of the Madden Turducken but was deprived because it was realistic to get it from NOLA to Iowa. Then as an adult, I have wanted this and had no excuse for the continued deprivation. Now thanks to Goldbelly and the interweb overloads of cerebral targeting. I was coerced to buy the infamous turducken. Highly offended at their ability to read my mind while searching for the perfect hosting turkey I succumbed. After all, I have wanted this forever and there is no way it could live up to the hype in my mind. False: This was everything I could have wanted and more. Hats off to Gourmet Butcher Block and John Madden for making the world aware

The meat counter is impressive - they have just about any part of any animal in there, nicely pickled pink. A lot of the selection is from the swine, and appears to be done in house. The butchers are knowledgable, and know their way around a pickled piece o' meat. The first time I swung in this joint, I picked up a twenty pound case of the $23.99 Spare Ribs. They were about exactly what one would expect from spare ribs that cost a buck a pound. They were very lean, very bony, very frozen, and very imported from Denmark. Will enough love and a good pitmaster, they were serviceable. Since then, I discovered the glories of the meat markets at Restaurant Depot and Costco - but they hardly carry any pickled meats. The rest of the store is just a small grocery store, with nothing at all exciting going on, especially with Casey Jones about 300 yards across the street. If you're headed to Sal's Super Meat Market, you're headed their for the largest selection of Pickled Meat that I know of in the Greater New Orleans Area. Four stars for the Pickled Meat niche.

As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember by grandfather from New Iberia coming to visit frequently. I have a lot of fond memories from his visits, but one of the things I remember is applicable to this review. Whenever he would arrive he would have several gifts for the family. I'm not talking about traditional gifts either. He would bring several packs of boudin and hogs head cheese from a local New Iberia shop. That must have had a lasting effect, because since then, I am on a never ending quest for good boudin and head cheese. I was on such a quest just the other day when I noticed Boudreaux's. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. There were coolers filled with stuffed chickens, roasts, pork loins, gumbo, étouffée and all other sorts of Cajun delights. In the fresh counter is where I focused my attention and will elaborate on a few items. Boudin - fresh, homemade and with the perfect combination of meat and rice. It had a slight kick, but not to overwhelming. Stuffed chicken thighs - stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. $375 for around 30 minutes covered and 20 uncovered. Oh my goodness gracious was this delicious. Even if you don't normally like thighs, I strongly recommend this item. Smoked boudin - I don't remember smoked boudin when I was growing up, but what a great idea. Boudreaux's version was perfect. Smoked sausage with pepper jack cheese - whatever you do, but some of this sausage. The sausage is made and smoked in house and this is, without a doubt, the best smoked sausage I've ever had. I don't know how it hod hold up in gumbo or some other dish, but it is amazing on its own. The people working behind the counter were friendly and very helpful. If you're like me and miss the Cajun butcher shops of Acadiana, I recommend you take a trip to Boudreaux's.

Très Bon's menu includes pulled pork, brisket, grit bowls, cracklins, and ribs- and that's just scratching the surface. Their sandwiches include smoked brisket with pimento cheese, BBQ pork and slaw, and pulled pork with garlic mayo. If that's not enough for you, Très Bon offers deep fried Oreos and a Maple Bacon Sundae and they have a fridge full of sausage and other goodies packed up just waiting for you to take home- talk about "very good"! I had the pulled pork platter with corn grits and andouille mac ($13). This platter was delicious. First of all, the portions were huge! The pulled pork was actual pulled pork and not a pile of pork shavings covered in barbecue sauce that you tend to get at some other spots. It was juicy and smoky perfection on a plate. I never think of corn grits as a barbecue side, but Très Bon is here to change all of that- creamy and rich, they were perfect with the pork. The andouille mac was in a league of its own- VERY cheesy and the andouille was a nice touch, but totally not necessary as the mac spoke for itself. I loved the huge portions and cool atmosphere. Look around and you'll see old matchbooks on display, an extensive hot sauce collection and even vintage pinball machines. Really though, it's all about the delicious food at a great price. While I'm not crazy about Bourgeois Meat Market's andouille sausage, which I have found to be a bit…read moretough, I enjoy their regular smoked sausage, and I'm a huge fan of their Cajun Smoked Tasso. For the uninitiated: Tasso is fast-cured, seasoned, and smoked pork shoulder. It's used in stews and simmered foods, softening as it cooks, adding a delicious, unique flavor and bite that's typical of many Southern Louisiana (read: Cajun) dishes. Tasso's difficult to describe, but you'll know it when you taste it. I just received four 1-lb. packages of tasso, shipped from Bourgeois' smokehouse in Gray, LA via FedEx 2Day. The order arrived in good shape, and though the ice packs surrounding the meats had melted, the tasso was smoked (and so, fully-cooked) and it was vacuum-sealed. It went straight into my freezer, and it'll be fine. The cost to ship from Lafourche Parish to San Diego doubled the price of the product, from $7.24/lb to around $15, but I pay that much (or more) for quality steaks and seafood, here at home, and it was my choice to spend top-dollar for meat that I know, from experience, will make my gumbo, red beans, etc. taste better than I could otherwise make them. Kudos to the folks at Bourgeois Meat Market for offering a high-quality product, and for handling the purchase and shipping in a professional manner. I like visiting their shop when I'm in the area, but I LOVE that they don't make me get on a plane to eat what they're cookin'!
