    My personal pizza
    Fazal R.

Summer 2024, still come here for my personal pizza. It was a nice day to visit. Spoke with the owner and showed him photos of my order two years ago. He has a new employee so she was surprised that they can do this. Price was reasonable and the quality/flavor was all there that we got to finish all of it for a family of three. Will be visiting again next time.

Not quite sure how this place has such good reviews... it's actually some of the worst pizza I've ever had. And it's expensive. It was salty, undercooked, and low quality. It cooked in under 10 minutes and came out soggy and all the toppings slid off. Three pizzas cost 70 dollars... save your dough

This place is amazing!!! Fresh & stone fired. Even the cheese bread is made on the stone fired grill. It's different but delicious. We love the meatballs & basil on pizza. Our go to from here is meatball, bacon, onion, mushrooms & fresh basil. Crust is light & airy. We also really like their caesar salad too.

Perfect pizza spot! Walkable from my work other wise parking would be too hectic to even try.

I was a little hesitant to try this place since it's so new, but it was great!!! They have a couple speciality 'star' pizzas - so there are four corners that are stuffed with ricotta, something I've never seen before. We ordered the Big Daddy pizza. It was great, so flavorful and fresh, they make the pizza right in front of you. However, I was expecting an inside with tables, but there wasn't really any place to sit - only tables outside. Probably better as a takeout place.

Guys this pizza is no joke!! Like 10/10. The dough is my number one complaint usually, but their dough created the perfect canvas for the toppings. My husband grabbed us pizza for a boat ride and was pleasantly surprised! Keep it up guys we'll be back

No dough in the center at all. Completely dry

I ordered Roundabout pizza for pickup, the pepperoni and the herb garlic knots. Good pepperoni pizza but the garlic knots were terribly burned. I do not know how these got made and someone thought by looking at them that they were acceptable to serve. I imagine this type of lack of quality could happen anytime, definitely could have been avoided, and is very disappointing.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Excellent dough and fresh ingredients. Do not pass this up!

    Garlic knots??? Not so much

The reason it is not 5 stars is the service. It wasn't for a lack of trying but for some reason there was no bar tender so the waiters were making the drinks as well and that caused quite a bit of delays in service. Hopefully the bar tender was just out for one day? If this is the method of operation though, it will be problematic I think. In addition to that, it is a little small inside and so they have tables right on the curb which is not ideal with cars going right by. If they were on the other side of the sidewalk it would make more sense. You should definitely try it but go a little early so it isn't so slammed and you can get one of the better spots.

It looked like bucatini but wasn't hollow so it was just extra thick spaghetti I guess. That texture didn't work for me. The vodka sauce was good. Seemed like a strange choice with meatballs. But, like most restaurants, the meatballs were cooked without sauce. I was at the bar so I watched them cook them in the sauce for a minute or two. The balance of beef and pork was great, but meatballs should be cooked in the sauce to get the right texture and flavor. Otherwise it's basically just a round hamburger. Texture felt like the theme. The texture of the spaghetti was off. The texture of the meatball was off. Even the bread texture was off. I thought maybe the bread was undercooked but the squish test showed that wasn't it. It was just really dense. The cannoli was great. So often they are too sweet. This one wasn't. (The shell and filling textures were good.) The pizza people were eating around me looked great. My paternal grandfather's family was from Naples so that meant my grandma had to learn to cook in the style even though her family was from a different part of Italy. When I see a Napoletana restaurant I feel nostalgic and some of them deliver. This one didn't. Well, I had one moment of nostalgia. The plate came with a big spoon. I was at a restaurant in North Beach with my dad when I was little. My spaghetti came with a spoon and I picked it up to try to twirl my spaghetti with it but it felt awkward doing it that way. My dad laughed at me. He told me that spoons are for toddlers who don't know how to twirl their spaghetti with just their forks yet. He said he figured some restaurants did that to get people to stop cutting their spaghetti up. I've spent too much time thinking about this review. I want to be fair. I didn't want my nostalgia to cloud my judgement. In the end, I decided to ask what I'd score this restaurant if it were an Italian restaurant in Napa. I hate to score under the average, because I've noticed that expectations when I travel, but people who hate eaten delicious Italian food shouldn't go in with too high of expectations. If I lived near this restaurant I wouldn't return unless I was craving a cannoli, or maybe to try the pizza.

We were seated as soon as we arrived, and throughout our visit the service was really good. My friend and I were having a very hard time deciding, and when we asked the server, she flat out told us that the two things we were torn between were awesome and we should order both and split them. We got the shrimp and grits and the lobster Benedict. On their own, the grits weren't anything special, although they were texturally great. Now when you add the shrimp and gravy . . . This dish is a whole other deal. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the gravy was super well balances. It had the perfect level of spice. The lobster Benedict had a perfectly poached egg, and it worked so well. The mornay sauce was a lovely touch. I'd definitely order it again, but I would also definitely order the shrimp again. Long story short, our server was right, they were both amazing. I also got a standard Bloody Mary, which was solid. I would definitely go back to this place. It's got an upbeat, family friendly atmosphere, and I think it's a great spot for locals and out of towners alike. It's also well priced. I'd also love to try their beignets or French toast next time. They've also got a huge lunch/dinner menu that I'd definitely want to try if I were in town for longer.

Ambience was like your regular breakfast place or diner, but definitely family friendly. We were there with our 8 month old baby boy and felt comfortable. Food tasted pretty okay, we ordered coconut shrimp, fish n chips and chicken tacos for brunch! The fish was a little undercooked and the batter was still a bit wet inside. Other items were not bad. For drinks, I ordered their popular pomegranate mimosa which came really flat (no bubblies) and in a wine glass! I sent it back and got a mojito instead - which tasted a lot better! Additionally, we were not aware the breakfast menu closes at 12 pm and we were already seated, so kind of felt obligated to order from the lunch menu at around 12.05 pm! It was too early for a sea food lunch for us! We saw the table next to us had ordered breakfast just a few minutes before us but we were denied because it was already past noon. Overall a pretty average experience. I was expecting a little more authentic experience but turned out to be just like your local diner.

This was clearly a vestigial pizza joint. Based on talks I've heard around Clearwater Beach, this was at one time a hotspot for tourists and locals alike, however I heard a lot of controversy that surrounded the place. Truthfully I was way too gentle with this place when I first reviewed it, so I'm here to rectify that before I leave this review be for good. The "pizza" I had here, if you can call it that, in 2024 was an over-glorified ritz cracker with cheese and tomato sauce...Absolutely no flavor, no substance, and it went down like a rock; I had gas station oven pizzas that tasted better than this. So little to say but so telling at the same time...The owners really had no pride in what they were doing at all to the point that they were borderline catatonic, and the entire place was in disrepair when I last visited it; Nothing was organized, wires were hanging out, and it was just straight up a rundown eating environment, which is a far cry from when it used to have outdoor seating reserved for its place. All of it was really offputting. Captain's Pizza was a shipwreck of its own doing and it was honestly time to abandon ship, just to keep it in tune with the theme. I genuinely wish I was around to try this pizza during its heyday...But honestly, it was for the best that it closed down.
