I loved Round Willow Yoga!!! THE SPACE: As you can see it's super bright, small, but open. It has a lovely, cozy side entrance full of plants and a little area to sit and take your shoes before entering the studio. The good part about it is that you can leave your belongings and it feels safe. If you don't feel like leaving your things outside, it also has cubbies indoor next to the reception. What you can't see in this picture is the gorgeous plants that are hanging inside the studio. THE TEACHER & CLASS I went to a Zumba class and sweat like crazy. Lorena, the teacher, made the class so much fun, with a variety of music and dance movements. Lorena was caring and laughed about her own mistakes allowing us all to enjoy the class and not feel that if you missed a step was a big deal. This point was to have fun and work out... Mission accomplished! ABOUT THE OWNER Karina, the owner was there when I checked in. She was super warm and caring. She asked about how I found about the studio and shared that this specific class was for a bigger cause. They were donating the proceeds of the studio and teacher to help someone in need!! It made me want to come back again and again knowing that is a place that not only cared for their clients but for the world as well. Karina also participated in the class and was super aware if anyone needed water or anything at all. This kind of care is the one that makes (at least to me) to become a lover of a business. PARKING I was super lucky because I found parking in front of the studio, but this area is known for the hard parking situation. So my recommendation is come with time to search for parking. I purchased a prenatal class package very early in my pregnancy, planning to attend classes during that time. Unfortunately, I experienced pregnancy complications and later required several postpartum surgeries, which made it impossible for me to use the package within the studio's six-month expiration window. Now that I am finally healthy and I've been cleared to return to exercise, I reached out to see if I could use the classes I had already purchased. The owner refused because the package had technically expired. She said that if I would have let her know earlier and perhaps provided a doctor's note she could have maybe given a three month extension. Her solution was to offer a 20% discount on future purchases, rather than allowing me to use the classes I had already paid for. When I asked what the difference would be if I simply attended the classes now, given the circumstances, the owner compared the situation to AppleCare expiring. Aside from being incredibly insensitive, the comparison didn't make much sense. The owner chose to stand firm over $115 in unused classes. It's disappointing that what could have been a lifelong customer relationship was worth less than honoring classes that had already been paid for. read more

A lovely little gem of a studio. The only disappointments are the lack of parking and no shower. I was fortunate to take class on a weekday at 9 AM so there was plenty of street meter parking. Even so, one has to be careful of the no parking signs for street cleaning and all the various rules. When I mentioned the of the parking to the front desk, she said yes the weekdays were easier. So I would definitely give yourself a healthy amount of time to find a parking spot, at least 15 minutes. I just happen to get lucky. Space is very tranquil. It's lovely and full of light and has really beautiful hardwood floors. There is one tiny bathroom with a sink with only cold water. No place to shower nor change. Bring your own mat or you can pay to rent one. All the props are generously loaned for free, including bolsters, blankets blocks and straps. The class was not too challenging. I didn't break a sweat. But perhaps there are other classes that are more intense. But it was a restful and centering class. TL/dr: perfect spot for locals to enjoy yoga. read more

My friend introduced me to this place! I love the plants that this place had. It gave out a calm feeling. Coming in you do have to take off your shoes and put them in the shoes/bag area. The instructor, Nicole, was amazing and sweet! She gave out hugs in the beginning and instructed us how to do certain moves correctly. There were chants and songs that we sang along towards the end. Such a cute little studio but so unfortunate they aren't taking COVID-19 seriously. Went in for a class and the class before mine was fully packed with nobody wearing masks indoors. When it was time for my class to start, the teacher walked in and started chatting with a student about how she hated wearing masks and then proceeded to encourage the class to take their masks off. I didn't feel safe at all. There was no social distancing and just the two windows in the back that were the only source of airflow. I understand that we all want to get back to normal but when you aren't taking ANY health precautions and not taking this pandemic seriously, it just isn't worth it. read more

This place seriously rocks. The yoga is not easy, in fact it's quite intense, probably the most intense yoga I have ever done (other than Bikram and that is it's own beast). The class moves quickly and people will do splits and headstands along the way. It's multi-level so you don't need to be a real yogini to give it a try. The studio itself is adorable, with a cute outdoor patio area where you remove your shoes and little cubbies inside the yoga room. No mirrors, great music, great vibe. Oh and everyone there wears Lululemon outfits but what do you expect? It's Manhattan Beach. And I guess I wear Lululemon too so what does that say about me? lol. Parking is not free, there are meters along Highland and Rosecrans. I've only gone during winter months and I could imagine in the summer it may be difficult to park here at times! I hadn't found a decent Power Yoga class in the South Bay until now so I was very pleasantly surprised to experience this class. (We used to be regulars at the Brian Kest Power Yoga studio in Santa Monica and not many other yoga classes measure up to his, in my opinion). The studio is pretty and clean. The room is small so it was nice to have a little more personal attention from the instructor, especially not having practiced yoga in years. I am giving Laurel 5 stars! This yoga studio is near perfect in my opinion, One of the most friendly staff ever. The studio is small but comfortable, I love how light it is in the studio with the sun shining in on sunny days! Monday night at 6pm. Don't bother, it's so crowded you are on top of the other person and the air is so thick I was sweating because of the temperature, not the workout. If you go, save yourself time and park in the structure. You will be circling the neighborhoods for half an hour like I did, and end up in the structure. ($0.75/hr) I got the student discount so one class was $10, otherwise it's $18/class or $20/3 classes if you are a new student. I will not be back. I felt the instructor had to limit his practice/teaching because there were so many people in the room. The class didn't flow as well as it should have (no fault of the instructor, there were barely cm not even inches between each mat). read more

Well, I'm about as limber as a block of cement. But, I decided to take yoga because I've seen the benefit in others around me and wanted to give it a try. Glad I did. A few quick points - Saturday morning classes get really full really quick! So if you like to hide in the back like me get there at least 20 minutes early so you can secure your spot. They do heat it up in there (not a ton, but noticeable) for a majority of the class but then turn on the AC slightly during the cool down part of the exercise. The instructors (I've had Jamie and Dani so far) are great at making sure, no matter how packed the class got, they took time to help people like me find the correct posture and form. All this to say, I'm only a half a dozen classes in but for beginners and out of shapers like me this place is great. Sure, it's Manhattan beach where the beautiful body reigns supreme, but you would never guess that once you walk in this yoga joints door. Now go hug a tree and eat some granola. peace. read more

I have taken a few classes at the Green Yogi through classpass. While I did enjoy the classes, this studio is definitely not my favorite. Pros: -The studio is really beautiful, the zen garden is a nice little bonus -The instructors are very kind and knowledgeable Cons: -Classes are listed as all levels but I believe a beginner would feel extremely intimidated in their power vinyasa classes. I am not a beginner but I am certainly not an advanced yoga student and my first class was a little overwhelming. -Parking is HORRENDOUS -The bathroom inside the yoga room is a little odd, also there were no paper towels in there, just a rag on the hook, a little unsanitary if you ask me. -The circulation in the yoga room is awful, it gets very stuffy and uncomfortable during the class. I was dripping wet and found it hard to focus on poses and get a good grip on my mat even with a towel. At the end of the day, I probably would take another class at Green Yogi but I cannot picture myself going the 3x a month I am allotted on Classpass. read more

This little studio has a great vibe! I love the ambiance and even though it is a super sweating environment, it always smells nice. I always leave feeling fit and peaceful. Jamie Horgan is my favorite instructor- she explains positions articulately and has a sweet way of delivering a brutal work out! She makes sure your muscles and stamina are tested in class and you'll feel like you just got a massage afterwords. The only reason I didn't give the studio five stars is it is a little too crowded to be perfectly comfortable. You will probably have someone's feet in your face, and try not to hit other people when doing positions with extension. Give yourself 20 minutes to find parking! read more

Love love love love love The Green Yogi. I've been attending their Power Vinyasa evening class through ClassPass, and I fully intend on signing up for a monthly membership. Jamie is really great, and I love how she explains all the poses without making it sound too introductory. She is also good at throwing out different options to make the poses more challenging. I have been trying some variations that I didn't think I still had the strength to do. The only cons I can find is that there is one small bathroom, and it is located in the actual yoga room so you'd have to wait for the previous class to be done before using it. Also: parking sucks, but that's to be expected. read more

I held off writing a review here for a bit becuase I loved it so much the first time. I wanted to give it some time and see what it's all about before writing one. Two weeks later I still love it. There are tons of yoga studios you can go to and get a good work out but what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It exudes tranquility. I feel at such ease here. I love all the instructors and all the people that go there. There's even seating outside for you to relax. The whole place is just so pretty. Being a martial artist this place still gave me a good workout. I'm trying to in crease my flexibility and this is definitely helping. The instructors are super helpful too. I almost did a headstand my first class! Then again I almost took out the guy next to me too... After class my body may be tired but I feel like I have more energy and life in me. This place really does scream eco-chic. It's a beautiful space and is the first thing you notice! The outdoor patio space is quite small, but is really lovely. The string lights and candles around the studio make it feel cozy. The community-like base of yogis and genuine instructors offer an intimate experience. I am addicted to Ali's yin class on Wednesdays! The class is always different and incorporates live music (guitarist, singing bowls, etc.). Ali is very sweet and warm, I love practicing with her! I've also taken power vinyasa on Tues/Thurs. Although it's not heated, I sweat like it is! It's fast paced and advanced, and one of the best workouts I fit in during the week. read more

Hands-down my favorite yoga studio in the Southbay. They have created a very peaceful, yet energetic space here, and the yogis bring only positive vibes. I tend to favor Ms. Jamie Horgan's classes, particularly her 8:00am Saturday morning session (which has the added benefit of keeping me out of trouble on Friday nights). Her classes generally reduce me to a trembling, schweaty puddle of goo. But I have sampled many classes, and all of the instructors here are at the top of their game. Although I am very close to giving the Green Yogi only four stars for two important reasons: (1) The classes are getting waaaaaay too crowded. There are times when the yoga isn't even all that enjoyable because instead of just flowing and "getting into your groove," you are more focused on avoiding the various limbs flailing around and your neighbor sweating on your mat. The owner really needs to consider lowering the max capacity of the classes. I know that would cut into her profit margin, but it needs to be done. Or perhaps there is a way to physically expand your studio to accommodate more people comfortably? (2) They should stop letting people enter the classes late. There are times when I am 5 or even 10 minutes into my yoga workout, I am really starting to enjoy it, getting that nice heat and sweat going...only to be interrupted by someone asking me to move my mat over so they "can just squeeze in." It's ridiculous. The owner should adopt a strict rule: the door gets locked once the instruction begins. It's that simple. The instructors generally start a few minutes late anyway, so there is already a buffer built in. So the Green Yogi is not perfect, but I enjoy the yoga enough to overlook these shortcomings. read more

Green Yogi, I love you! Manhattan beach's gem. I absolutely love the energy here. It's my getaway from life's stresses and treatment for my running injuries. It is eco-friendly and every time I walk in I literally feel like I'm a different world... a world of peace and nature. The staff is amazing! It was my first time at this lovely little yoga studio last night for the Vinyasa Flow. I absolutely loved it!!! I've been trying out the different yoga studios in the area, and I must say that the Green Yogi is by far my favorite. Rachelle was our instructor, and she was amazing! I loved her style, her pacing, and the positions she had for us. I sweated more than I typically do and I felt way more energized afterwards as a result. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Everything was completely straightforward, and you gotta love that. I'll definitely be back again soon. It's a little stressful finding parking, then waiting in the little waiting room as the previous class gets out, but every time I take a class there, I feel sooooo good afterward. I don't even really think about how crowded it is once the class gets going. I've taken classes from a number of the instructors, and they're all top notch. The classes are always challenging, but not intimidating. I've taken classes at other studios in the past and sometimes felt like it was competitive yoga. Not at the Green Yogi. South Bay yogis, you'll feel at home at the Green Yogi. The one-room studio is small, airy, and clean - each time I walk through the doors I am enveloped by sunlight and positive energy. The yoga instructors here are all wonderful and very experienced, I especially love taking classes with Tamal Dodge, Anne Spinner, and Jamie Horgan. All Vinyasa Flow classes can be tailored for all levels, but are best for intermediate and advanced students. Most classes entail several challenging standing sequences plus some ab work and arm balances. Try the new student intro package, 3 classes for $20. As a yogi that frequents several studios, I'd recommend signing up for their email list and waiting for a deal on the class packages to buy in bulk - there's a great sale about once per quarter and the vouchers essentially never expire. It's admittedly stressful to find metered parking and sign-in early enough - classes fill up quickly so come 15 minutes early at a minimum. However, the natural feeling of bliss that overcomes me as I lay in shavasana completely recoups the journey to the studio. read more
