I wanted to surprise my wife on our 30th wedding anniversary so I called Misty Hollow on short…read morenotice. I spoke with Carrie who altered her schedule for that day to fit us in and we couldn't have had a more wonderful experience. She took the time to get us comfortable with our horses, I had Montana and my wife had Sonny, and we fed them treats, she showed us how to saddle them up properly, and patiently explained how to properly ride and handle our beautiful horses. She then led us on their scenic trail through flower-bedded fields, hilly horse paths, and by a scenic lake all while she took hundreds of pictures of us throughout our journey to cherish for years to come. Carrie has a beautiful farm, stable, and even an indoor area for riding lessons and parties. Her horses are all beautiful, well-kept, trained to handle all level of riders, and obviously well-loved and cared for. I highly recommend Misty Hollow for everyone, no matter which experience you choose to partake in (trail riding, lessons, parties, equestrian, etc). I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. Thank you Carrie and Misty Hollow, as well as Montana, Sonny, and Holly, for wonderful memories made!!!!

I really love horses and was interested in grooming and tacking the horse I am to ride. I have ridden the same horse so far and she is perfect for now. Cari is a wonderful instructor and I have learned many things I was never taught before. She is also very patient! She also cares about horses and takes great care of them and that was part of my decision to ride here. I have already signed up for additional lessons. I went on a trail ride yesterday for the first time and all I can say is it was incredibly awesome. We walked some and enjoyed the scenery and had the opportunity to canter as well. It was loads of fun and I look forward to going again. If you are looking for a place to learn to ride, continue your training and going on Trail rides this is definitely the place to go! I highly recommend this place.

I found this riding school by chance when my daughter was 4yrs. old and had already fallen in love…read morewith horses. Having ridden myself as a young person and spent time at barns, I know that they can be disorganized, badly run, and often have transient staff. On the flip side, show barns can be competitive places where some riders feel entitled and the horses are treated like things to be used and cast aside according to the rider's needs. Sauer's Riding School is neither. Because I am an animal-lover (as is my daughter), the love of the horse and its well-being comes first. The trainers at Sauer's are horse-lovers first; they are meticulous about the care of the many horses they own and care for at the barn. The lesson ponies are well-behaved as are the more advanced horses for more experienced riders. The head trainer has multiple credentials and a lifetime of experience with horses. She is an excellent trainer of both horse and rider. Learners must practice grooming as well as riding and are taught to be independent. The atmosphere at the barn is professional, warm, friendly, supportive and fun. The riders who are drawn to this barn always seem to have like interests and really care about the horses. Whenever we are there for a lesson, I see the same faces tending to the horses they board there and preparing for a ride. I recommend this riding school because I trust the owners' conscientiousness with the riders and the horses; I recognize the quality of the instruction; and it is a kind and warm place for my daughter to learn and experience the joy of horses. My daughter is now 10, and we would not ride anywhere else.

I have been to this Farm many times over the years with friends and it was nice to see the 60acres…read morein tact and the trials were in good shape. Dan helped saddle and tack our horses and at first he wasn't too outgoing and didn't say much. However, on the way back on once we dismounted and returned our horses he was much more engaging and helpful answering our questions. Today I decided to take my family and our horses we had were Red, Freddie, Diamond, & Princess for our unguided morning trail ride. Be sure to come and be honest about your riding/experience level of comfort and whether you want a guide or are comfortable riding without one as we did. Also please rsvp your time and details ahead of time. There is some mud and plenty of trees to explore. The farm has a small creek and a maze of trails to ride. Keep in mind long pants and sleeves are best as sometimes dependent on season the plant grow can include sticker brush and be very thorny. Also, check for ticks and wear propellant and or sunscreen to be very comfortable. They offer boarding, leasing, and lessons as well as summer camps.

I organized a meetup event here with 10 people showing up to do the trail ride. We had…read morereservations at 11am and from my email coorespondence with the Western Rider instructor an hour of riding for the rate of $35 was confusing as we panicked that we were going to be late. Apparently it was really 2 hours to allow for them to get the horses out of the barn/ whatnot and get the riders situated, so it was a good deal. There were kids helping us onto our horses, but it's not certain they did a good job. My saddle rotated and I slipped off my horse while another person's (and mine) stirrups were not high enough - even after we had informed them that we were beginners. The trail itself is simple, good sized in the woods with long straight paths where more of the advanced riders could cantor or trot. We were lucky that I had friends who knew what they were doing and we had a great time regardless. Still, safety precautions should have been excercised better.

When I started riding with her I had many bad habits that were hard to break due to past trainers teaching me incorrectly. She's managed to fix all of my habits and she's incredibly patient. When it was time for me to find a horse she helped my family and I along every step, she reached out to everyone she knew trying to find us our dream horse and she successfully did it! She got us a beautiful paint gelding that has the set of skills that are perfect for my level. He's also such a cuddle bug and has a lovely personality! The facility is very clean and pretty, with an indoor and outdoor arena you can ride in almost any type of weather! The people here are all very supportive and kind, giving you many opportunities to make friends and socialize! Sara also does groundwork and horse training, we currently board our young mare here to be reined and she's taken care of very well. 10/10 would recommend!

We expected an immersive…read moreequestrian experience, but my daughter received less than 15 minutes of saddle time per day. Instead of multiple opportunities to ride and learn, the program felt like an overpriced babysitting service. If you are looking for a camp where your child actually spends time with horses, I suggest looking elsewhere. This was a massive disappointment and a poor value for the money. We went there summer of 2025.
