Dan helped saddle and tack our horses and at first he wasn't too outgoing and didn't say much. However, on the way back on once we dismounted and returned our horses he was much more engaging and helpful answering our questions. Today I decided to take my family and our horses we had were Red, Freddie, Diamond, & Princess for our unguided morning trail ride. Be sure to come and be honest about your riding/experience level of comfort and whether you want a guide or are comfortable riding without one as we did. Also please rsvp your time and details ahead of time. There is some mud and plenty of trees to explore. The farm has a small creek and a maze of trails to ride. Keep in mind long pants and sleeves are best as sometimes dependent on season the plant grow can include sticker brush and be very thorny. Also, check for ticks and wear propellant and or sunscreen to be very comfortable. They offer boarding, leasing, and lessons as well as summer camps.

Apparently it was really 2 hours to allow for them to get the horses out of the barn/ whatnot and get the riders situated, so it was a good deal. There were kids helping us onto our horses, but it's not certain they did a good job. My saddle rotated and I slipped off my horse while another person's (and mine) stirrups were not high enough - even after we had informed them that we were beginners. The trail itself is simple, good sized in the woods with long straight paths where more of the advanced riders could cantor or trot. We were lucky that I had friends who knew what they were doing and we had a great time regardless. Still, safety precautions should have been excercised better.

I emailed a question and got an almost immediate response from the owner. (After trying to contact many other places with no success or call backs.) it was worth the 45 minute drive.. Joe was super personable and professional. Payment was easy and via online which was great reserved our spots and we didn't have to worry about bringing money with us. Joe made us all comfortable and suited us with horses to fit our experience. And at the end took the time to take our pictures to email to myself. Just overall great experience!! After several other places left a bad taste in my mouth it was refreshing to see someone who loves what he does and made it his goal to keep us safe and having fun!

She took the time to get us comfortable with our horses, I had Montana and my wife had Sonny, and we fed them treats, she showed us how to saddle them up properly, and patiently explained how to properly ride and handle our beautiful horses. She then led us on their scenic trail through flower-bedded fields, hilly horse paths, and by a scenic lake all while she took hundreds of pictures of us throughout our journey to cherish for years to come. Carrie has a beautiful farm, stable, and even an indoor area for riding lessons and parties. Her horses are all beautiful, well-kept, trained to handle all level of riders, and obviously well-loved and cared for. I highly recommend Misty Hollow for everyone, no matter which experience you choose to partake in (trail riding, lessons, parties, equestrian, etc). I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. My client and his son LOVED the experience and asked her to stay an additional hour at the party because they were enjoying it so much. They also will be having his son take riding lessons from her in the summer The only negative is that I didn't get to meet Barbara in person - she is professional and warm from the get-go. The management is doing an impressive job. They had just replaced all of the lighting in the indoor ring, and the ring has such good lighting and good lighting is in my opinion one of the best qualities to have in a barn. The footing in both the indoor and outdoor rings has some memory foam in it to help horses trip less often, and the outdoor ring is massive. It is bigger than the indoor that is how big it is. And the indoor is big as well. I can see that they are doing such a good job. In fact if you come earlier in the day, the barn tends to have a clean smell. The trainer, Jess is also really nice and helpful. The manager lives on-site, which makes me feel like the horses are all safe no matter what. What I mean is that the house is literally attached to the barn. There are two sides, one for Jess and the other is the same purpose, but Jess spends her time on the other side. The ring runs down the middle of the barns, connecting the two sides. The stalls are MASSIVE. The barn has two tack rooms and two feed rooms, one tack room on each side, one feed room on each side. Both of the tack rooms are massive, one bigger than the other but they are both perfect for everyone. This barn is completely devoid of birds, which is one of the best things since many barns tend to have many birds. There are three cats that help with that. Everyone at the barn is extremely kind and willing to help one another.

I started when I was…read morea freshman in college at UM in College Park Maryland, rumored to be the first Disc course on the east coast at the time (1982). I've played all over the country now. Harry Dunham is a beautiful hilly park. Great for walking, picnic Pavillion, soccer fields. But twisting through the park is one of the best disc golf courses I've ever played and I refer to it as my home course. You can easily play 9 holes in 90 minutes or less. Warmer weather can get a little backed up but not bad. Give it a try! You can play with any disc you're comfortable with but there are hundreds of professional disc companies styles and weights. After you play a bit you'll notice you like certain throws and conditions. I'm hoping to bring more Disc Golf reviews to Yelp. It's a great activity for the whole family. Playing once a week is awesome exercise. The cool thing about Harry Dunham is it's easy to get to, quick to play, diverse holes, and you could easily play a few times a week and not get bored. Come play disc golf at Harry Dunham Park or one of the dozens of other courses in the area.

It's not far from where I live, and I used to jog here occasionally with a friend (she lived within a half mile of it). However, she got married, moved away, and I personally prefer Mountain Park, a mile or 2 up the road in Warren (no Yelp entry on it, so I haven't been able to write about it), when I do a solo jog (or a "fast walk" these days; my knees aren't what they used to be). If I were being purely subjective, it might rate a star lower because I come here so rarely now. But, in the interests of being objective-- well, its got a lot to offer. I can't imagine anyone not liking it. There's ample parking if you drive here. There are a couple of athletic fields, there's a playground for kids, there's a covered pavilion or gazebo (actually, if I remember right, I think there are 2) where cooking can be done and that I think can be rented out for groups. Evidently, there's also an indoor facility that's available, although I've never paid much attention to it. At the opposite end of the park, there's a roller/hockey rink set-up. When I was last "fast walking" in the park, a fairly large Asian group was having some sort of dance class/exercise session there, which was interesting to observe if not actually participate in. Throughout the park are benches to take a breather on, or, if you're with someone, have a conversation on, or maybe just to sit on and "people watch," if that's your thing. Ever hear of "disc golf?" No? I haven't either, but the park has the necessary set-up for it, if it's your thing. It does have its fair share of adherents, judging by the people participating in it during the spring/summer months. They have a nice 9/11 memorial in the center area of the park. My favorite aspect of it all is the wooded area that surrounds much of the park; it has a nice, well-tended path (paved with wood chips) winding its way through at least a portion of it. When I was last here, the sun was setting with a haunting beauty, its rays filtering down through the trees and becoming lost in the thick foliage of the forest itself as twilight deepened, and it was like being in nature's grand cathedral--- I'm essentially an agnostic, but if I do have anything within me that could quality as religious feelings, I have them when I'm out in the midst of such ethereal loveliness and splendor. I guess it's a little TOO popular, in my humble opinion; it always seems a little too crowded for my taste (then again, that could be dependent upon what time of day you go here, or what day of the week/weekend you go). Sometimes you have to dodge kids barreling down the paths on their bicycles, or jump to avoid a "projectile" coming at your head from one of the overly-enthusiastic "disc golf" guys. But, this is, objectively or subjectively, a nice park, and it offers a lot for people with families, groups, the athletically inclined, or those who might just want to take a meandering, meditative walk through a pleasant rural setting by themselves. I'm not entirely sure who Harry Dunham is (or was), but he has a nice park named after him. We should all be so lucky!
