Round Park is on Parkside Drive in Berkeley near The Uplands, where The Plaza terminates. It's just a little circle of a park, surrounded by houses and situated at the foot of a greenway bordered by Parkside on the north and the Uplands on the south, that leads down to Star Market on Claremont. Round Park's claim to fame is the yearly July 4th festival, when neighbors turn up in the morning with kids on decorated trikes, dogs with RW&B scarves, and the stars and stripes in abundance, where everyone gathered is encouraged to sing patriotic songs accompanied by locals playing instruments on a flat bed truck that slowly transverses the perimeter. Advanced warning of the event is provided on flyers stapled to telephone poles in the surrounding area. Round Park is a great place to walk your dog, or just as a destination to appreciate the crazy variety of trees that were planted years ago for your edification. read more
