There is a flat rate for reserving the space for 12 hours. We payed additional fees for a wedding planner, linens, plate service and catering -it was so worth the cost! We also opted to have a full bar, which includes four hours, we paid an extra two hours and the pricing was extremely reasonable. The bridal party arrived at the estate and was shown to small cottages where they were able to get ready before the ceremony. They were brought small sandwich trays and were able to take some photos on the estate before the wedding. We cannot say enough about how beautiful this venue is. As people entered the estate a parking attendant directed them where to park. There was a small walk to the air-conditioned estate, which is lit beautifully by chandeliers. The outdoor space is lovely to overlook from the patio, which acted as a great space to take photos and visit with our guests. The staff did a meticulous job setting up everything for us and making sure all guests had what they needed. "Bakers Catering" did an amazing job. We had charcuterie for our guests and then a buffet style dinner. We had a separate caterer for the cake and were very happy with our wedding coordinator Sydney for setting up and handling everything that was dropped off during the day. The bar and buffet table were well staffed. The staff was organized, efficient and well prepared for our 155 guests. We can not thank the Ormont enough for the beautiful reception and celebration they provided for us.

She was totally sober (she was our designated driver) but couldn't see there was a 4-5in step because it wasn't marked and the lighting was severely inadequate. I almost fell too. She fell face first, hit her head, knee, ribs and wrist. An ER visit that night showed her wrist broken in 3 places. That wasn't even the worse part - we were accosted by 2 different employees who yelled at us to get up and move because we were blocking traffic. Seriously?! My mother was laying on the ground and couldn't move at first. We thought she loss consciousness. I am so thankful for the off duty EMT who was there and did a head to toe assessment and used my coat to make a sling for her arm - her arm was that broken it needed to be splinted. Meanwhile my husband went to get our car so she wouldn't have to walk all the way back to the parking lot. While he was waiting for her to get to the car, another employee yelled at my husband to move his car so more cars could get out. They easily went around him and he wasn't blocking traffic at all. We had to be very adamant with this man and explained what happened but he didn't seem to care. I have called the Orrmont Estate several times with no call back. They won't even answer my call any more - it goes straight to voice mail. This is very unprofessional and extremely disappointing to be treated this way. I do not recommend going to an event there unless you can afford all the medical bills that go with the treatment needed due to the negligent lighting. Numerous surgeon visits, surgery, hand therapy and an ER visit adds up!! It feels they are hiding something or know they're negligent as they're essentially ghosting us.

Of course, we could not say no! Not knowing what to expect, we made the drive to this rustic barn in Piqua, Ohio. What a surprise! A Saturday wedding took place at 4:30 in the afternoon. Before the ceremony started, we were able to go inside of the barn for some shade. It was truly appreciated, as there were several older people in attendance. It was over 90°, so it made for a very hot outdoor wedding! The ceremony just outside the barn was beautiful and quaint. I read online that the facility could hold a guest list of 250 people. The outdoor venue where the ceremony was held looked small enough to be considered quaint, but I really do believe 250 people could have sat on those benches outside, if needed. The two-story barn was quite large, as it had an area for a bar, the wedding table for the bridal party, about 26 round tables with eight chairs each, and a loft area complete with a photo booth and additional smaller tables, if needed. There were nice bathrooms on the first floor, with three stalls in the women's room. Large enough for people to get in and out, as well as cleaner than a horse stable or portalet (phew!). If you look online, it looks like the couple who owns this used to be in an event planning company. It looks like the barn is situated on an old Homestead, as the house is where the bridal party gets ready. There is even an additional older looking barn that the men can hang out in while the girls get ready. There is a parking lot next to the field where the couple gets married, but a field of sunflowers attempts to block away the row of cars in the lot. Honestly, I left this venue thinking I should get into the event planning industry! If you look online, the couple is pretty honest about their rates. It looks like it is about $3500 for a Saturday late afternoon wedding and $2500 for a Friday night or Sunday afternoon. Of course, that is just the barn rental. I am sure that anything additional would cost more. Wonderful venue!! Just know there is not air condition in the barn. We really appreciated all the fans!!

We catered our own food and drinks and the kitchen area was clean and ready to hold everything. We were able to play music through the venue's system and there was a tv (with fire stick access) so you can stream things there as well. The venue is right in downtown Troy. We were able to walk to the brewery and other bars in the area once we ended the reunion. Parking is a breeze as there is plenty of street parking and the place is easy to find. I have no complaints whatsoever! If I had to find a venue for a gathering I would definitely look into using this space again.

I'm glad they did. The center used to be the house of Mary Jane Harter Coleman Hayner. When she passed away, she left her home to the Troy Board of Education with instructions that the house be used as a library, museum and for educational and cultural purposes. The house itself is beautiful, and the rooms are preserved in good condition. The Hayner family ran a distillery, and there is a room displaying their whiskey bottles. The house also hosts art exhibits. When I was there, the house was hosting an exhibit of paintings by Nelly Toll, a Holocaust survivor. Hiding from the Nazis in Poland, Ms. Toll painted water colors of what she had hoped her life would be. In addition to the painting, there was a video with narration from Ms. Toll on her story, which was interesting and moving. The house also hosts cultural meetings and classes, and can be rented for parties and weddings. The grounds around the house are beautiful and would be a great place for a small wedding. Oh, it should be mentioned that admission to the Troy Hayner Cultural Center is free, and that you can take photos while you are there.

This is not just any park...here is a little history: In the early 1940's, several Troy residents began clearing the river and the banks of rubbish in hopes of using the area for water activates. They even cleared away the remains of an old wooden damn located just north of the Adams St. Bridge. Then, Edward Alvah (E. A.) and William Hobart took an interest in the park and provided the heavy equipment needed to assist in the process of clearing. That's right...E.A and William Hobart of the Hobart Brothers Corporation. The Hobart Corporation used to be based in Troy, Ohio. Yes, that's right...the ones that created and made Kitchenaid for the home and for commercial use...and they are still made today (just not here). Let us not forget the welders, generators and industrial equipment as well to name a few. They weren't always made in a foreign country. Indeed, Hobart was alive and well in Troy, Ohio and the surrounding area once upon a time. The Corporation put quite the thumbprint on Troy, this is one of them. The leaders of the Hobart Brothers Corporation wanted to provide a location for not only boating enthusiasts, but also for their employees to enjoy the Great Miami River and all activities related to water. So, they constructed a marina, a boathouse, and a launch area with a lighthouse all from the profits of the company. At one time there was a baseball diamond located here and playground equipment as well. The place boomed with boating activities, festivals and company picnics for many years. My grandparents and parents used to speak of the fun times here. In the 1960's, E.A. Hobart gave the boathouse and property to the city of Troy as a gift. Troy accepted and decided it had great recreational potential. It has been utilized in many ways over the years. It has even seen days of non-use and dilapidation as well sadly. Some of my fondest memories growing up were playing out on the island after crossing a bridge...and we always fed the ducks. I used to love to ride my bike down that steep hill coming in and lift my legs & feet off the peddles. We used to rent canoes and paddle boats below...sweet memories. But what was once old, is new again. It brings me tears of joy to see this place come alive again and alive it is indeed. This place not only has its own website now, but it has a Facebook page too! There is a fairly new restaurant in the building called "Smith's Boathouse". The Smith family has a history of their own. I went to school with one of the brothers and was able to enjoy the family restaurant in Maui (Yummy). It is a great addition to the Park. And if you get a chance, please check it out. But not only that, there is now an area for concerts in addition to the typical walks, playing, biking, picnicking or just hanging out and enjoying the view. There is quite the venue these days at Treasure Island. It makes me smile that it is alive again. Although people call it "new", please don't forget the history, how it started, why it's here and how it has evolved. When in Troy...stop down...a water activity may interest you, a stroll, a bike ride...or maybe just the view. Walking into the castle felt like walking into the 90s with the decor and homey feel. I enjoyed walking around and looking at all of woodwork,decor, and pictures The hosts were very kind and welcoming. I had an hour relaxation massage and hand and foot scrub. Very relaxing and just what this tired Mom needed. The Brighton room was cozy and peaceful, the bed very comfortable. I had peace and quiet and that was just what I was looking for. To top it off, I had ordered food delivery and after 2 -1/2 hour wait it never came and I had no dinner. One of the hosts, Jerome found me and I explained and he insisted on making sure I was fed and heated me up a steak and fried potatoes. I was so grateful and it was delicious and way better than the delivery that never came. In the morning I was fed the fluffiest Griddle pancake that was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside served with honey vanilla butter sauce and maple syrup. I also had cheesy eggs toast and sausage. It was all fantastic! I had to take half home it was so filling. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing night away. I would drive up from Cincinnati any time for a massage from Randi!
