He had surgery to remove 2 of the tumors., then completed only 3 weeks of the normal 6 week protocol of radiation and only 2 doses of an oral chemo drug due to a low platelet count. The surgery, radiation and low platelets left him extremely weak and tired with daily bouts of severe dizziness, blurred vision and right sided weakness. I took him to Dr Kong. He has been seeing her for acupuncture twice weekly for about 8 weeks now. His dizziness is markedly improved, his vision is better and the right sided weakness is improving. He's much stronger and less tired. (He actually rides a stationary bike 7 miles every day!) Dr Kong is absolutely amazing! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. Only time will tell the status of his cancer but I can definitely tell whoever reads this that she is greatly diminishing the negative side effects of the surgery, cancer, and treatment and she is making him much stronger and feeling much better. She's a genius!!!

I was left in a room and was checked on every 15 to 20 minutes. Each session lasted up to 45 minutes. I was told my sessions were exhausted. It went pretty quick. Did it help? Not too much for my tingling and numbness but it was worth a try. I was glad to have the experience of acupuncture but it may help more for pain. If you have chronic pain & stiffness or are still recovering from a long-ago serious injury, you'll be in good hands. I tagged along because I was interested for myself. I'm glad I decided to give this a try. Over the years, my body has tightened, despite constant effort to stay supple. Kathryn is very experienced at loosening the fascia layers between the muscles. It's a wake up call for all those slacker muscles that need to start working for a living again. Deep tissue massage might be a bit too intense for some. If you need her to lighten up a bit, just tell Kathryn. You'll still get the same benefits. I had developed "crossed body syndrome" where my tight muscles were pulling my skeleton out of alignment and discouraging me from moving. After each session (half hour and full hours available) I stand a little taller, and get a nice boost with my own efforts at home between sessions, such as physical therapy exercises, Pilates and Hanna Somatics. If you need just one or two sessions, that's fine. And if you need something more regular, that can be arranged. Kathryn leaves it up to each person to decide what's best, based on their goals. Once you walk out of there feeling fabulous, you'll want to go back! The office has rooms for several practitioners of various body therapies, including acupuncture. Check the website for full details. I think it's a good idea to call the office prior to booking your first appointment to get to know Kathryn or whichever practitioner and to ask any questions you might have. After that, you can book appointments through the website. I find the reminders sent by text to my phone to be very helpful. UPDATE: If you want to avoid stairs or opening a heavy door, there is a wheelchair ramp to get you to the second floor, where TheraCare is located. The ramp is hidden by the facade of the building. Look carefully and you'll find it. The door at the wheelchair ramp now has an automatic opener button in case pulling open that heavy door bothers your body. Once you're on the second floor, go to the left side of the atrium. TheraCare is almost all the way to the opposite wall of the building.
