Last year I posted a review for myself: now I'm writing one for my husband. 5 months ago he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (brain cancer). He had surgery to remove 2 of the tumors., then completed only 3 weeks of the normal 6 week protocol of radiation and only 2 doses of an oral chemo drug due to a low platelet count. The surgery, radiation and low platelets left him extremely weak and tired with daily bouts of severe dizziness, blurred vision and right sided weakness. I took him to Dr Kong. He has been seeing her for acupuncture twice weekly for about 8 weeks now. His dizziness is markedly improved, his vision is better and the right sided weakness is improving. He's much stronger and less tired. (He actually rides a stationary bike 7 miles every day!) Dr Kong is absolutely amazing! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. Only time will tell the status of his cancer but I can definitely tell whoever reads this that she is greatly diminishing the negative side effects of the surgery, cancer, and treatment and she is making him much stronger and feeling much better. SIMPLY MIRACULOUS!!! I am an airline pilot that always researches every situation thoroughly. I saw Dr. Shan Kong twice before a major surgery to help prep my body. The miraculous part came 12 days after my liver resection. I was on 3 pain killers and still was doubled over in pain when going into her office. Within 20 minutes 70% of my pain was gone, by the end of the session, nearly all of my pain was gone and by that evening I had zero pain, my appetite was back and my digestive system seemed normal. Horrible experience. Would never come back. There is no evidence that Doctor Shan Kong has enough medical knowledge. If you wish to know more details, here is the story: My mom experienced some hip pain in the past three weeks. Therefore, we wanted to try acupuncture. We went to the clinic, and doctor Kong handed over some paper and had a small chat with us. We then went to the treatment room, and the doctor started to ask my mom about her situation. My mom told her that we came to US about a month ago from China, and because of our quarantine time at home, she might be sitting for too long and started to experience some pain. The doctor freaks about immediately and asked us to leave. This is very irrational, since the official quarantine time for visitors from China according to CDC (center for disease control) is only 14 days and we have well passed that time limit. Not to mention we have no symptoms. Well... if you think this is very reasonable and agree with her logic, then please DO NOT visit the office in the next one or two months or more. Because both my mom and myself had very close contact with her (we were talking directly less than 2 feet apart, face to face). She was not wearing a mask and didn't seem like she would sanitize the room after we left. I also doubt she would be very responsible for her patients and put herself in quarantine. Really ridiculous to experience this. I question if she even has sufficient medical knowledge to understand the virus, and obviously no compassion to her patients - especially, she suggested us to try other acupuncture centers in Ann Arbor. Excuse me? If you think we are so dangerous, are you just putting the risk onto your peers? Will leave it up to your judgment. There are indeed plenty of acupuncture clinics in town. read more

Do I think acupuncture does anything? Yes. Did it benefit me? Jury is still out on that. I received acupuncture treatments approximately 3 times a week for several weeks for infertility during an IVF cycle. Dr. Kong told me infertility is one of her specialties and she has published research on the topic. I was new to acupuncture before coming here and did not know what to expect. Most sessions I would have 10-15 needles in me at a time for approximately 45 minutes. She would leave the room and let me relax and come in to turn the needles twice during the session. It was relaxing and I would usually leave feeling lucid. I recommend asking for the heater to be turned on because it can get cold laying still and it also drowns out the noise as the doors and walls are paper thin. She leaves a bell by your side if you need anything during the session. I eventually had to abandon acupuncture as the cost was adding up and medically it did not seem to be helping my issue of a thin uterine lining. There are pictures of newborns on the wall in the lobby so I am sure others have benefited from acupuncture. She does have a package deal where if you buy six sessions at a time there is a discounted rate per session. I think her prices are competitive with other acupuncture places in the area. read more

I had been dealing with Sciatica pain severe enough to encourage me to visit Urgent Care. I received a recommendation to come here. I had some skepticism, but after several visits, noticed a distinct reduction in pain. With steady acupuncture application over the next week, I was surprised to experience a large reduction in pain. Acupuncture was my last hope in getting better. In 2018 I was diagnosed with E coli (Super Bug) bacteria had damaged my kidneys and bladder. After 16 rounds of antibiotics. I was sent to Infectious Disease at the U of M. at that point a Picc Line was put in for 3 weeks for my antibiotics. The infection cleared up a year later. I went to Dr. Kong originally for fertility treatments. She came highly recommended from some of the ladies in my neighborhood. My first visit she had me stick out my tongue. She asked if I get migraine headaches to which I replied, yes. She said, "I can fix that". I spent years on topamax and other medications but was never able to get my migraines under control. After about a month I stopped getting them. I continued treatments until I moved. The migraines stay away for an additional 6 months. I brought my mother here because a stroke left her almost lifeless. I tried everything from physical therapy, massages, and oxygen chambers to get her to get her moving again. I bought her 6 sessions, so far after only 4 sessions , my mother can move her arms, legs, and feed herself! Her head was hanging so badly but she can now lift her head again. I just want to see what amazing experience I had with Dr. Kong. I'd worked in dentistry for 32 years. Unfortunately, I was forced to retire due to a nerve condition in my neck. The resulting situation caused me to have tennis elbow in both elbows and to have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. Also, my arthritis was so bad that I could not close my hands to make a fist. I had been troubled by the elbow pain for a year prior to retirement. I've been to a specialist about my elbows and a general practitioner. They both told me it was tennis elbow and I would go away. As far as the carpet tunnel, I was told by two specialist that I needed surgery to correct the problem. Dr. Kong relieved me of the elbow pain in two visits. I have been going to Dr Kong for over 20 years and everything she has treated me for I have had a 100% recovery. Some things have been healed in one or two treatments and some have taken several months of treatments but it has always worked for me. Some things I have been treated for were Guillian -Barre which caused chronic fatigue and weakness in my limbs, a torn rotator cuff (amazed that pain was gone in 1st treatment and with several treatments was completely healed and I didn't need surgery as I was told I may , and pneumonia (she treated with cupping and cough was completely gone the next day!)
