It is a pleasant and quick stop. To me its mentally draining to go into most lower tier supermarkets like Safeway, Lucky's and similar. Rude customers, long lines, incompetence. That's super important to me since I'm a night owl and never know when I'll get a craving for a Slurpee or some other horrendously unhealthy snack food. Enter: 7-Eleven! They're open 24 hours a day, minus a short period of time when the one overnight clerk takes his lunch break. This is usually around 2:30am or 3am, so you might want to call first if you're planning a trip over there around that time. They have a decent amount of (non-liquor) booze, including some microbrews and Mike's Harder ciders (do NOT try the apple cinnamon one - it's atrocious), several self-serve fountain machines (including one offering mocha iced coffee), tons of snack foods, a decent frozen food section, and a hot food section by the registers. You can also stock up on more gluttonous of items, like lotto scratchers and cigarettes.

Raced down there, from the other side of town, battling a closed off freeway entrance and many red lights. It was 9:44pm and I got to the entrance at 9:45, meaning we had 15 mins until closing time. The doors wouldn't open. Wtf? The security guard then tells us, "We're closed, we close 15 mins early." Um, what? If you close early, then DON'T ADVERTISE THAT YOU CLOSE AT 10PM. Wasted a whole trip for nothing. Will never come here again and I strongly advise nobody else does either. I wonder if it's even legal to do that.

They update all the time with new shipments, reviews of their beers, pictures of cute dogs, AND let you know when Nito's Taco Truck ($5 for 3 tacos!) is swinging around, so even if you're only a casual instagram user, it's worth following them for any rare beer shipments they have (and they have a lot!). If their social media presence wasn't a giveaway, they're generally a lot better than neighborhood liquor stores for sourcing craft beers. The shop is a little bit dingy, which is to be expected, but they always have a good selection of craft beers available (4 full freezer cabinets), so I always end up checking it out whenever I'm in the area. Overall if you're looking to support small business (and you should!) and get some great beer in the process, Kelly's Liquors is definitely one of my favorites.
