We had sewer backing up into our basement. It took them 4 days to finally show up after telling us multiple times we had an appointment and would no show. The first guys that showed up an hour late couldn't fix it. The second guy canceled on us after he was 2.5 hours late. The 3rd guy who was also 4 hours late finally fixed the problem. Which took all of ten mins. Why a joke of a company and a waste of time. I would not recommend for anything. read more

I wouldn't give them even one star! My mother had an issue with her toilets not flushing in the Summer of 2024. They sent a kid with no experience out to her house to dig a whole in the front of her house. Four hours later, the toilets worked, but the cracked her cement step in front of her house. They wanted to charge her $12,000 dollars for the job of one person. She asked for an itemized bill, but the guy could not provide one! He said, "They went paperless!" That is not the right thing to tell a customer. When me mother was told by an expert her foundation was damaged by roto rooter digging, she contacted them, but they haven't done anything. Never trust these unprofessional people who aren't really all licensed plumbers. They lost their Better Business Bureau accreditation, which speaks volumes about their business practices. read more

I requested Roto-Rooter to come out and sit there and evaluate my dreams because my pipes were blocked they told me okay well hey it'll be $254 to unblock your pipes they came out Rana sneak down while I was at work called me said oh hey it's blocked we need to have our field supervisor come out he came out said that he couldn't get through with the camera and that they would need to excavate the lines for $7,800 and I sat there and I told them that I did not have that type of money and they said I could get financed So I called a local plumber for a second opinion and everything sat there he came out worked 2 hours on my pipes and work through both clogs and everything got unplugged So I do not recommend Roto-Rooter at all they are crooks and bad service read more

This company is a joke. They use deceptive business practices, lie, employees steal and come to the job while they've been drinking, don't show up when promised, are unprofessional, and do very poor quality work. We had a sewer backed up that my roommate discovered on a Saturday night. She contacted Roto Rooter to come snake the drain. They came quickly and had a young man come to clear the line. Supervisor Justin showed up quickly to look at the basement. He told us that the kid was not able to clear the drain and that they had to bring in a jet to clear it and a camera to look at the sewer lines. Justin also told us how serious the damage was and said that a crew would need to come in and basically "gut" the basement. Trying to sell us on their services, he said that his crew would come with hazmat suits on and rip everything out and clean it, and then sanitize it with some "chemicals." Another "supervisor" Brent also came out to the house that night and told us that we had a "belly" in our sewer pipe outside, and needed to have it replaced. My roommate had to get financed for this repair and was approved for $7,500 - which just so happened to be the amount of the repair. As a side note - we have ring cameras at our front and back doors and can see everyone and everything that comes and goes into our house. We decided to go with Roto Rooter to clean out the basement and to fix the sewer pipe. They come out 2 days later, the following Monday, to start the job. The excavation in the front yard was a nightmare. Brent told me where the sewer line was in the yard and showed me where they would be digging. 14 feet down and there was no sewer line. I work for the city that I live in, so I contacted our buildings/zoning department and got 2 different sewer maps and gave those to the crew. Both of these maps showed where the sewer line was. Brent, and another supervisor, Jordan, then had the crew dig another trench over 12 feet deep, in the wrong spot. A different man brought them so tool with a sensor on it that they could use to try and find the line - the device he brought was dead, so we had to wait for someone else to bring another one. After using the tool, they decided to try digging in between the two holes they already dug and finally found the line. They were not able to finish the job that day because they needed trench boxes/shoring and said they had to wait for them to be shipped from Chicago. The entire time they were digging they talked about how the ground in my city collapses very easily because it is very sandy - they also talked about how deep sewer lines generally were. If you already knew both of these things, why would you not be prepared with the trench boxes already? We had to wait an extra day because we got snow and the trucking company would not deliver the trench boxes. The crew showed up that next day and was able to repair the line. They again, were unprepared, though. They knew that they would need rock/gravel to put under the new pipe and did not bring any. They had to leave for 2 hours to go get the rock. The young man digging told us that he would try to get our yard back to the way it was as much as possible. Our yard looks TERRIBLE. I understand they don't grade the yard or reseed it, but they could have filled the holes back so much more than they did. Our entire yard is just a dirt pit. They also left our porch slab not stabilized - they didn't fill the dirt back under it so part of it is just hanging. They tore out huge chunks of the street at the end of our driveway and at our curb and left huge chunks of dirt and a bunch of the rock in the street. I started having issues with my sewer drain not wanting to drain appropriately, as well as it is backing up occasionally and practically flooding half of my basement. Friday, January 12th, 2024, My boyfriend called Roto-Rooter to get a quote on how much it would be to clear our sewage drain. The representative stated that the company doesn't give quotes over the phone but what they do instead is send a team to your house to give you details on what needs done and how much it will cost. Fantastic! We proceeded to get scheduled for Monday January 15th and 12pm. Come Monday the 15th I waited and waited to get a phone call that they were on their way, it wasn't until 1pm when I noticed a Roto-Rooter vehicle outside of my neighbor's house. I went outside and asked if they were sure they were at the right house. They said they didn't have an appointment for me, only for my neighbors. I proceed to question if they're right considering our neighbors aren't answering the door, only to find out that they are in fact supposed to be at my house. That wasn't an issue though, just an error in communication. Once we got in my basement and the workers seen the pool of water around my drain he lets me know that they will be able to clear the line for $250. I agreed to proceed with their services. Both workers went out to their van to bring in their equipment and started working. No more than 20-25 min later one gentleman comes up to ask me to come take a look at the drain. As I get downstairs, he tells me that my exterior sewage pipe is BROKE & they were unable to clear my line. Instead, the basement is now flooding with water, mud, and tree roots. I asked what our next step would be so I could let my boyfriend know as he is the one who knows more than me but he had to be at work. RotoRooter then told me their supervisor would be out to put a camera down my line (even though they wouldn't be able to see anything, the sensors would pick up where the issue was coming from) within the next few hours. They packed up and got out. Their supervisor showed up within 30-45 min. He came in and looked at the drain and gave me some knowledge on what he believes happened (roots got into the pipe and broke it) and what would need done in a case like this. He then proceeds to walk my yard locating the pipes with his tool and seeing where the "break" is. After about 30-45 min he comes in and tells me that my line is BROKE & he could have his guys out Thursday January 18, 2024 at 9am for 8k.. 8k was a bit much in my opinion but what do I know about plumbing? I felt pressured the entire time when I told them I had to consult my man regarding this. I also asked the supervisor why I paid 250.00, he proceeded to tell me its for them to TRY and clean the line..... Lol. "TRY"... lol they "tried" for 25 min tops! But okay whatever... Roto-Rooter leaves and I feel uncomfortable about everything. Next day the sup called my bf and told him 7k.. made me even more uncomfortable So, I called Boyer plumbing, and they fixed the problem for 75% less than roto rooter. even though we wasted 250.00 w this company we sure did dodge a bullet after all read more

I had this business come to my residence for a overflowing of my drain in the basement an older gentleman can out and fixed the issue quickly and didn't have any issues again for a year until last month I had two younger gentleman come out they worked quickly and explained their prices have gone up since the last time ,I paid them and they reminded me If I have any issue to call back and they would get someone out right away free of charge. My drain has overflowed 3 times since then I called and explained my situation and they can't send any one out until the following business day. This is very upsetting I work 95 hours every 2 weeks and have limited days off and don't want to spend them waiting for a problem I already paid for to be fixed again not sure if I will be choosing this business again. I hired them on 8/7/17. I like the public to know about how Roto Rooter treated me. I sent two emails to the Rotor Rooter Corporation. Here are the emails. Email 1 I had them over to clean one floor drain, they wanted to charge me $110, they were there for only 20 mins. I had them before for years. In the past, I had them clean 4 floor drains which cost me $125. So I called them and talked to some idiot. I asked him why would the cost be $110 when only 1 floor drain was done? he said it didn't matter and started laughing at me. He said he didn't understand my complaint. I told him if "you don't understand my complaint, then there is something wrong here. If someone works less hours, would they make less???" he still said he didn't understand my compliant and laughed at me again. He finally said he would send the guys back and clean all the floor drains, he then just hung up on me. I didn't get his name and he was extremely rude. I used them for years and this was a horrible experience and will never use them again. Email 2 They DID come back to clean the other 3 floor drains which did not need done. I knew they didn't need cleaning even the guys who came back said so. But I felt like I was forced into having the other three drains cleaned b/c they were going to charge me $110 anyway. During the phone call with the guy at Rotor Rooter, he also told me that the charge was $110, it didn't matter how many floor drains. When the guys came back, they wanted $125 b/c that's what I paid last year. My question is: Was I overcharged last year b/c the guy on the phone told me that the charge would be $110 , it didn't matter how many floor drains? This experience was very disappointing, I expected Rotor Rootor to be an honest business in Peoria, Il. I needed the main drain in front of the house in Peoria, IL unclogged from tree roots. I had them scheduled to come in the afternoon. They came in the morning without a call (ok, I was home and not in a hurry). The guys, poor things, could not get their plug going saying that the outlet, which I always use (at least twice a week) doesn't work. When I came to see, they did not plug their cord all the way, then, the same issue was with their extension cord. They were moving vey slowly... I stood and watched them. It took them literally 5 minutes to unclog the drain (I had this done not that long ago before). The guys left the equipment sitting on my lawn and went to sit in their truck on the street. Now, when I made an appointment, I was told a price range, depending on the "amount of work" and "the time the team will be working on the problem". The guys charged me the top dollar. While they were still sitting in the truck in front of my house, I called the office and let them know that the guys were done very quickly and are just sitting in their truck. I also questioned the amount I was charged. The office manager replied that she could see through their tracking that they spent at my house an hour. I replied this is not true. I have been using roto rooter for 4-5 years and have them out every fall to clear my drain from the house to the street. Maybe 20 feet of drain to clean because we have a large maple tree in our front yard and the drain gets the real small roots in it and it plugs up. We was told by the guys that cleaned it 11/2 years ago that we could go 2 years as they were just getting a small amount of roots. Well were11/2 years and plugged up. So the guys come out Saturday and said it was open and I shouldn't have anymore problems. Today Wednesday we got up and every drain in the house is plugged again. My problem is when I called to get them back out to do the job right they tell me that they can't get to me today. I said this is BS as I have allready paid and should be able to get it done today before a new customer since I am a dedicated customer and am sitting here and can't even use the toilet because everything is plugged. I tried to tell them in the past years the guys have cleaned all the roots out of the drain not just a small amount. I am sure this won't stay posted long but guess we will see. read more

I was in desperate need of assistance with help on our basement drain that was spouting water. Two guys with this company showed up and one of them said they will not help me because the former lady who lived at my house 6 years ago was told that the pipe needed to be replaced. I explained to him that I was a new home owner and we had just spent $10K remolding our basement, but they still refused to even try to help out. They literally recommended that I call another company nearby (that does the same thing) and ask them to do it. I guess the employees of this company consider all companies the same when it comes to this work, so make sure to price check them. At the end, these guys thought it was a great idea to ask me if I wanted them to come back in 4 days for an estimate on digging up my entire yard. I can promise you that anyone who is going to spend $5K-$10K to dig up their yard will go with the company who tries the $100-$200 fix before saying this is the only option. read more
