The guy cleaned the drain and then decided to open the T&P valve on our water heater. That unseated the valve, causing 9,000 gallons to drain out of the hot water heater before we finally identified and corrected it. Between the water bills, electricity to heat all the draining water, and leak detection agency we are out $1000+. What did regional manager David R have to say when asked to be reimbursed? It was MY fault that there was sediment in the tank. Hello, your guy SHOULDN'T have touched the valve.... asked 3 plumbers to confirm it. He even had the nerve to say his list showed our tank was in good condition. Why were they looking at it at all? They were supposed to be snaking the HVAC drain. Feels like they created a problem to drum up business for a new hot water heater installation. Are they reimbursing us for the costs incurred by their negligence? His words: take us to court. We've gone many times and have never lost. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company!!!

The service call was on a Sunday, so I certainly understand the premium charge. But I was essentially charged $500 for labor to unplug and plug in a new thermostat (a $200 part). No new wiring, just plug and play. The tech did check the furnace and air conditioner, but my total bill was $700. Again, I understand the Sunday premium charge, but a $500 labor charge is way too extreme. I'm rating them a 3, only because the tech was very helpful, but I would have rated them much lower because of an obvious price gouging practice that this company uses, which was extremely disappointing. I've learned a very hard lesson to never use them again..

It was Sunday evening when I discovered a plumbing problem at the house. I decided to put out a…read morerequest a quote through Yelp so I could see who was available and get some pricing for Monday morning. I've had this issue happen years ago so I was pretty confident in the fact that I needed my main line snaked/augered. I feel like the whole point of doing these requests is to get the info you need without a bunch of phone calls and visitors to the house, but it feels like pulling teeth trying to get a quote out of someone. I understand there are variables, but I'm including a description of what I need... at least give me a ballpark. While Holy City is one of the ones that would not offer any pricing, they did offer a free estimate and they also got back to me Sunday evening within minutes of putting in my request. I went back and forth on the app and set up an appointment for Monday morning between 10am-12pm and was told I would get a text 30 mins before to let me know someone was on the way. Well 10-12 came and went with no tech, no call, and no text. I did shoot them a message at that point letting them know that nobody came. A while later, they sent me a message saying that my appointment time had changed and would now be between 3-5pm. No apology or acknowledgement of the missed appointment from that morning. So I replied, "No thank you. You already no call/no showed our first appointment". I get no response on the app so I figure what's done is done. Then I get a text around 3:15pm letting me know a tech is on his way to my home. I responded with a shortened version from above and that I no longer wanted service. Then it seemed I was getting a new message from an Aaron D stating he canceled the appointment and was sorry for the confusion about my appointment. I pointed out that there was no confusion about the appointment and that I was ready and waiting the whole time to which their tech no call/no showed. Then they just reschedule me for 5 hours later with zero explanation or apology. At that point, the problem was already fixed by another plumber from another company who was more reliable. From there, Aaron did apologize for the inconvenience and acknowledged that the mistake was on their end and he would deal with it internally. Based on other reviews and the quick response to my initial inquiry, I was really looking forward to a great experience. Maybe this was a fluke for them, but I can only go off of the experience I had and it was quite disappointing. I'll add an extra star for Aaron reaching out to remedy the situation and acknowledging their mistake, but I won't be recommending them to anyone else.

I love supporting small/local businesses. Most of the times the work is done better, and often less…read moreexpensive than the big businesses in the area. Today was no different. I called around to get estimates. No place would come out to even do anything other than a diagnostic fee for nearly $100. Many people told me over the phone that they wouldn't give me an estimate, or rough guess would be $1500-$3000 to repair my issue. I had a corroded gas line from my meter into my home that was leaking. I called John this morning. He firstly told me it would only be a $45 diagnostic fee, and roughly $300 to repair. Not only did he do both of those parts, he did them much cheaper than many of the other companies I called. Then he even came the same day, at the time that was best for me. When he got to my home, he quickly saw the issue, and knew it would be a little more expensive than what I was describing. I didn't even send him any photos when I first called. He went to Lowes, got the needed pipe, and was back quickly. He completed the work, very thoroughly, and as cleanly as possible. Mind you, my issue resulted in a hole needing to be made on the inside of my home to access the gas line. He did the work, and only charged me $500, which is a fraction of what I probably would've paid with another company, and also probably would've had to wait a day or two for someone to come out. He's very knowledgable and seems to do good work. He's the owner, so his reputation is on the line. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing a plumber! I will definitely use him again in the future as well. The gas company came out a short time later, tested the line for leaks, and did not find any, and turned the gas back on! I'm so glad I went with west Ashley plumbing, and not some big name brand.
