I received a message asking if they 'could' reschedule the appointment after I already made arrangements to be off work for the appointment. When I attempted to call Roto-Rooter back there was no answer despite being during their stated business hours. When I called back the next morning trying to confirm the appointment I was told that my appointment would not take place due to another job that they had. When I called the person (Joyce) out for cancelling my appointment without speaking to me she tried to deflect blame by stating that her message mentioned that they couldn't service me on the scheduled date (not true, she asked if they could reschedule) and that trying to contact me twice (I was at work both times she called) sufficed as notice. When I pointed out the absurdity of this statement she simply refused to take any accountability for any wrong doing and tried to deflect the issue back on me before simply hanging up to avoid accepting any responsibility for her actions. If you plan to use this company you should be aware that they will punt you if they have a better job come up. They have no regard for their customers and will not accept accountability for their terrible customer services practices.

I hired Mark Cooper of Affordable Plumbing for an emergency call after a pipe froze and burst under the crawlspace of my short-term rental in Geneva. When he arrived, he told my guests he didn't realize it was a crawlspace job and made repeated comments about being too old to deal with it. Important detail: he never actually went into the crawlspace. Instead, he called me and spent a lot of time talking about a hot water tank that had absolutely nothing to do with the issue. He ultimately declared the repair "impossible" due to ice from the leak and said there would be no hot water again until spring--suggesting guests could still use the toilets, just not hot water. This is an Airbnb. No hot water until spring is not an option. He was on site for about 20 minutes, made no attempt at the repair, and charged me $185. I then called another plumber, who crawled into the space and fixed the pipe. If you're looking for someone who shows up, decides a job is beneath them, and charges you anyway, this might be your guy. If you want the problem actually fixed, I'd look elsewhere.
