Dr. Launder is perfect…read more Do you worry that your doctor won't listen to you? Be thorough? Take time with you? Do you spend hours trying to research reviews to avoid all of those common issues? If so - then you are me, and I don't blame you because your health is important, and who the H E double hockey sticks wants to pay for some jerk to hardly listen to you or blow you off? Dr. Launder listens. Really really listens and takes time. She takes notes and tends to remember everything without looking back at them. She gets to know you and she continues to know you. You are not a number. An added bonus is that her nurse is precious. She has the same remarkable qualities and they both make you feel comfortable and cared for. I would recommend her as a primary physician above anyone in Port Richey. Trust me, I've been around different doctor's offices. The only downfall is there seems to be no patience when you are low on cash, which I've gathered to be a Morton Plant policy. As someone who took a while to pay a bill back, Morton no longer allows me to see ANY of their doctors. Really nice huh? 5 stars for Dr. Launder 0 for Morton Plant Mease Billing Dept

I mean, am I reviewing the DOCTOR...or his practice?…read more I spent the first part of my career as a Pharma rep and a Group Practice Materiel Manager -- soooo when it comes to Doctors and well run medical practices I know the good, bad and ugly. As far as the doctor goes, Dr. Garcia is good. He is honest stern and to the point, He take his time with you and very easy to talk to. I feel he is an extremely conscientious doctor and explains things very clear to you. Now, the practice? If I was to rate his office staff...it would be a mixed bag; incompetent, arrogant, defense, thin skinned, and lack of customer service skills. They are somewhat disorganized and you do have to sit on them to get them to call you back, answer questions and on occasion, can be a little rude, for lack of better term. This really applies to the front office, who often gets it wrong. His back office staff is pretty efficient BUT . they DO NOT communicate lab results very well. His front office staff...they are not a good reflection on the doctor, so if you are the type who is easily frustrated by an office staff who is not necessarily organized or doesn't necessarily communicate well ... this might not be a good fit for you. They could screw up a 3 car funeral when it comes to scheduling. Folks this is Corporate Baycare Healthcare at it's finest (tongue in cheek).

Such a relief to see other people posting the same issues we have had. (Check the google reviews)…read more He told me I was making up a 10 year vitamin D deficiency and it would help if I spent time outside in my yard naked every day. When my bloodwork came back still showing a deficiency he accused me of not taking the D supplement. (I researched it eventually and figured out I needed a different kind of D). I have fibromyalgia and ADHD - on the days my fibro is bad and I barely get out of bed - I don't take my ADHD meds. Because I wasn't filling the prescription enough - he accused me of being a speed addict and refused to refill my medicine. After I stopped seeing him - I paid to be properly retested and weird... I STILL have terrible Attention deficit. He called me fat numerous times - told me go lose weight. Fair... when I lost 60 pounds he would barely comment on it and acted suspicious of how I lost any weight. Ugh! My wife also went to him and cannot speak of him without tearing up. He gave her a weird breast exam in front of me and started to ask if we did that to each other while he was "massaging" her breasts in what appeared to be weirdly sexualized. She hated going to see him and would walk out of there feeling insulted, dismissed and mostly violated. My Mother also went to him and always felt terrible when she left there. She had cancer and he would start many appointments by saying things like "I am surprised you are still alive" .... He would get out his pad and say " In your condition I am happy to prescribe you anything what do you want?". I wish someone had the money and motivation to put him out of business. He said multiple times he was just putting in the time until he could financially get out. If you are lucky - you might walk out of there with the weird children's book he wrote about crayons. He is far more interested in himself than being a good ethical doctor.

This review is going to be a little unfair…read more I mean, am I reviewing the DOCTOR...or his practice? As far as the doctor goes, Dr. Lura is THE MAN! He is honest, to the point, ALWAYS runs on schedule and will take extra time with you if necessary. He is very easy to talk to and extremely kind. He also can be a bit of a wiseass, which I appreciate as we have similar senses of humor. He is an extremely conscientious doctor, will explain things to you a half a dozen times if needed and his hours of practice are extremely convenient. He does stay open late on Thursdays (til 7pm) and unlike most doctors, he is open all day on Fridays. Doesn't do that "leave at noon" thing, which means that those of you who have jobs can actually get seen without having to leave your job early. Now, the practice? If I was to rate his office staff...it would be a mixed bag. They are somewhat disorganized and you do have to sit on them to get them to call you back, answer questions and on occasion, can be a little rude, for lack of better term. This really applies to the front office, who often gets it wrong. His back office staff is pretty efficient. I have to give a shout out to back office MA Sean, who is very kind, very warm and extremely caring. He's a good guy and I like when he is the one who takes me to the back. His front office staff...they are not a good reflection on the doctor, so if you are the type who is easily frustrated by an office staff who is not necessarily organized or doesn't necessarily return calls...this might not be a good fit for you. They also have a policy that you have to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment or you will be rescheduled. I have NO problem with this except for one TINY little detail...and that is the fact that they don't TELL you that until you are at the front desk and find yourself being rescheduled. I have been going to the doctor for over 9 years now. They NEVER had this policy. Recently, I had an appointment because I was in a great deal of miserable pain due to a double ear infection. My appointment was at 5:30, so I got there at 5:24. Signed in...only to be told that I was going to have to reschedule my appointment for NOT being on time. WHAAAAAAT?? I was absolutely on time! Early, in fact! Well, Chyna at the front desk was not having it. She said I was told to come in 15 minutes early. I absolutely was not. Valerie, the office manager said, "this has always been our policy". Um, no. No it was not...as I have seen this staff turn over more times than a contortionist at a Cirque Du Soleil show. I told her I was NEVER told this on the phone. Actually, someone even called me back after I made the appointment to tell me that they forgot to write down what I was coming in for...and even in that second conversation, I was never told any thing of the sort. I'm standing at the front desk, crying my poor little eyes out because I was in AGONY with my ears. You would think there would be an OUNCE of compassion, especially since I was one of their last patients and they would say, "well, now you know for next time." No such luck. Fortunately for me, the doc happened to come to the front office just as I was crying and asking them to PLEASE see me just this once and I promise, I will make sure to be earlier from now on. They were still banging the "NO" drum when he said, "Let her come on back." Even after that...when the doc left the area, there still had to be snark in the form of "Well, she's going to just have to sit and wait til the appointments for the day are done." I look left. I look right. There is NOBODY else in the waiting room. Really??? So, I sit my whiny, pained butt down to wait. Two FULL minutes later she says, "Okay, you can come in." Do you feel better about yourself, doll? You made me wait. You got your way. Hooray for you. *eye roll* When I got to the back, a certain back office MA told me straight up "they ALWAYS forget to tell the patients to come in early. I believe you. They probably didn't tell you to come in 15 minutes early." Yes. Vindication. Indeed. Turns out I had a VERY serious infection that the doc was ready to hospitalize me for. As a nurse, I find their behavior extremely disconcerting, because, had I been rescheduled and discouraged and had NOT come back, I would have been walking around with a very serious and highly contagious MRSA infection that could have potentially killed me. So yeah, there are certain times when the front office should really NOT make the call on whether or not what you have going on is important enough to warrant you being seen, even if you were "late" by their standards. I waited two days for them to call me back with test results. Never got a call. All that said, the doc himself is awesome and I adore him...so FIVE for the doc, and THREE for the staff gives a Four Star review. Next time, I will try to write my review 15 minutes earlier.

The nurse was unable to find a heartbeat for one of my twins. I was taken to have an ultrasound because Dr Unstead was unreachable. My girls had a heartbeat. It was 8:30ish and Dr. Umstead told the staff he had patients to be seen and would be at the hospital around 11:30. It was not until after 1:00 did he arrive. My daughter Autumn had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. It took 3 attempts to get her to breathe. She soon later died in superstitious circumstances. Lack of oxygen because of lack of care is an easy malpractice case. He didn't want to take a chance my girl had any health issues because of his choices that day. My other daughter survived. Later Dr. Umstead told me I should be grateful that one lived. The neonatologist was cursing him out when he did arrive to deliver my girls I want to add. She was so angry he left me laying there in my situation. It was 5:30 my water broke and I was early. His choosing to not respond to the hospital staff infuriated her as well. Thomas Umstead is a narcissistic MONSTER!! No quality of care, office staff is even concerned about his behavior. He took my daughter's life and he looked me in the eyes and told me so. Everday I think about that very conversation in that room at his practice alone with him. I will never forget it. It's also not an isolated incident. There is no quality of care, horrid bedside manners, not an obstetrician I would ever recommend to anyone.
