Yikes, after looking at the past reviews of this place I guess I am glad that I hadn't stopped in here until recently. Not sure what was going on a few short years ago, but I think things have changed a bit in here. This sits off 30 and is easy to get to when you are driving through the area. It is in a plaza with different services that should make for an easy one stop shop all around. There is even a bank attached that can aid in you one stop shop. The store itself feels a bit cavernous. Maybe that's why it feels like there are rarely any customers in here. The aisles also seem to be ones that aren't as tall as other grocery stores. I was able to see over into the other aisle while shopping for what I needed. But, honestly, when I stopped, there were more than enough people in here shopping to make it feel like they were desperate for customers. I had a few items I needed to get and hoped that by stopping here I would be able to finish up for the day and be on my way. I searched and searched and came across a few of the items, but not my entire list. As for the customer service, I happened to notice that the employees helped when asked and didn't do it in a nasty way. They were out stocking shelves and helped when needed. The highlight for me was that they have the self serve registers. This makes for a quicker exit as you can scan and pay at your speed and be on the way. read more

This bakery is atrocious. This was the 3rd time I tried; I gave them the benefit of the doubt. For "baked goods", I've had better prepackaged goods from chain stores. And the overall pricing of other items is just terrible. I just moved out to this area a few months ago. I thought it would be close and convenient, to shop here. I will not again. I'll drive to Giant Eagle, ALDIs & Walmart. 'Quality Control' should be thoroughly examining this bakery. Breads entirely too soft and tasteless. And the pastries are like candy coated bricks. Absolutely the best bakery in the area! Megan makes the best birthday cakes tasty creative and to your specs! The olive oil Italian bread is the best bread anywhere! All the employees at the deli serve you with the smile I asked him to put the papers in between the American cheese and they do it with a smile instead of a smirk like other places ! I will no longer shop at this store. Today, Saturday at 8AM, there are no Tyson boneless chicken breasts. Funny thing - it was BOGO. I inquired at the meat counter and was told they had none. Also, I went to the cashier twice asking if I had the right box of Kraft mac n cheese on sale for a $1.00. I was told no twice. I finally left the store. It is not worth my time, energy or gas to shop at this store. I won't read the sales paper as there are other places to shop in North Huntingdon. Places that appreciate their customers. read more

The North Huntingdon Shop n Save is near my house so I shop there as close by. Too many times, they do not have sale items. For those items in the store, I am not there first thing in the morning when a sale starts but you would think by mid day the correct charges would be in the system. This past Thursday takes the cake. I purchased two Oscar Myer bacon packages 2 for $10. In the ad it said $2 off WITH CARD. It did not work. The cashier called the manager/supervisor of the day and she said it needed to be on my phone as a coupon. I am not stupid!! If it says card it says card not digital!!! She argued with me even with showing her the ad. She kept saying it had to be digital. Then when she was looking at the bacon, she charged me for a third one. Then she finally took off the $2 but then added it back on. I had to ask her multiple times to take off the third bacon. Unbelievable!! I wish I lived closer to Greensburg or Wilkins. read more

I went to this Shop n Save this morning on national Pie Day to buy pies to treat my staff. Advertised pie on sign on large pie table as $4.99 a pie. I got 5 of them . This is at 7:30 am. I get to check out and there are 4 people with extremely full carts in line in only lane open with the slowest cashier. I go to self checkout. My pies ring up at $7.99 each. No one at the customer service. I need to get to work. Think I will come back later. I Call at 10:00, get connected to the bakery the girl who answered the phone was nice enough , she goes and checks for me at the table. She comes back onto the phone and tells me the sign was on the other side where the cookies are that it said that was for the apple pie only. How does this even make sense? On the cookie side? Who would know that? Just another reason NOT to shop at this store! read more

I wish I had read all of these reviews 2 weeks ago. Rudeness at the registers. So very close to home ... convenience & I was so happy when I thought we had a grocery store closer to home ...Sad thing is ... I don't deal well with rude and ignorant people. When I am somewhere, I like it to be an enjoyable place to work or to shop. This is not the way it is at this location! My grandson says he goes to the Shop & Save in McKeesport! It's so much nicer there .... Further away but much nicer! I don't know how you hold on to a job while being rude to their customers. This is not my grocery store despite the fact that it is close to my house. There are many reasons it just looks dirty. Lately during COVID the staff while rude and condescending have taken to wearing their mask below their nose. Not good do they realize the nose has a direct line to the lungs. Keep driving one mile in any direction to Giant Eagle or Walmart. It's a small store - they don't ever have everything you need on your list. Prices are a bit high and you need to look over the expiration dates pretty good. With that said... I would however use this store for my seafoods, meats, and other items occasionally since I frequent the plaza location visting other shops. Today, I wanted to use the lottery machine since my lucky number came up on my receipt. There were lines at the registers, so i thought I would try my luck at the tobacco counter to exchange some pocket change for a dollar bill to use the lottery machine. Apparently, it is against policy at Ross's Shop and Save to give out change to customers wanting to use machines they have placed in the store. (so says the woman at the counter who appeared to be office management.) If you have vending machines in the front of your store that require dollar bills, you should also provide the means for customers to use them that only have change. Also, if you have a corporate policy regarding not giving customers change you should post is clearly at the registers to avoid an encounter as petty as this. I am certainly glad I found out not to shop here over something petty rather then something substantial. I'll just keep on driving down the road read more

It's like walking into a time warp to one of the old A&P's or Super Dollars...weird smells, strange elevator music, blatantly obvious traffic patterning and only moderate cleanliness. The service personnel are mostly friendly, but are always talking to one another and seem distracted and underwhelmed with working there. The food selection is OK (make sure to check the expiration dates on everything), the produce is less quality than Giant Eagle or Aldi's and their prices in general seem to be a little higher than their competition. The gift card selection is small - but does include Amazon - though unfortunately they cannot be purchased online. Overall an odd grocery shopping experience, unless you want to put on some bell bottoms and acquaint yourself with a store from 1975. read more

Not only do you feel like you have gone back in time when you shop here, (decor, lady screaming on the PA system, 80's music piped in the background) the food appears to be from the past as well. Check the date on everything you buy from this store because I cannot tell you how many times I have had to put something back because it is expired. read more

I am surprised by the other poor reviews. I have experienced excellent customer service from this store. I'm usually there right after work. High school kids work the registers, and they are ALWAYS polite and chatty. You do have to watch their "fresh" produce. Often I bring it home and it's bad in just a day or two. I can't tell you how much I saved on my grocery order...alot! I always find deals . I was shopping and was looking for a certain soup for my mom I had a sweet young fellow help me find it . He stopped what he was doing and walked me right to it. Also love the fact that I was able to get a bottle of wine. How convenient. So glad to have this store it's just what we needed. read more

I previously left a two star review. I gave the benefit of the doubt to this store. I just left the store and am a bit sorry I didn't speak up. The store was quiet, only a few customers scattered around. I walked up to the lottery counter and stood for a few minutes before an employee arrived to wait on me. She just stared at me, no hello, just silence. By the time she scanned my tickets and went into the office for cash for her drawer, it was over ten minutes that I had been standing there. The only time she spoke was when she counted out my few winning dollars. I smiled and wished her a good day and she just walked away, again in silence. I can't imagine that there is an owner out there that knows his employees are treating customers this way and does nothing about it. It's been going on for years. I like the Shop n Save brand. They carry products that I prefer to other brands. The employees shouldn't be working with the customers. Perhaps their personalities would be better suited for warehouse work where they can enjoy each other's company. The staff at this store for the most part is a disgrace. read more

I decided to update my review for a few reasons, none of them good, unfortunately. This Shop N Save has been open for two years and has gradually gone down hill. I was happy at first to have another place to grocery shop, but now I am starting to feel regret. Apparently, it's back to Aldi's and Wal-mart for this gal. The things that I like about the store are still the same....easy access, rarely busy, etc. However, the customer service is lacking. No one is ever friendly and I have yet to have a sales person on the floor ask if I need assistance or if I'm looking for something in particular, etc. In fact, the one time I can say that I've had good customer service is today, by one of the employees who had a booth set up with fruit and pasta salad samples. However, once again, the coupons! the coupons! If you live in the area, SNS will send you coupons with some pretty decent deals on them. Example: $.99 for a case of water, not bad. The shtick, however, is that you have to purchase $25 worth of groceries to utilize that week's coupons. Still, not a bad deal if you're grocery shopping anyway. I had some useful coupons for this week, including a coupon for a box of ice cream sandwiches for $.99 - which my husband is in love with. They are normally $3.50, so not a bad deal. Well, heck. They're out of them. I search all throughout the freezers, no where to be found. Instead, I grab a box of ice cream bars on a stick - same brand, same regular price. At the check out counter, I ask the cashier if they will substitute the bars for the ice cream sandwiches. The bagger, who overhears me ask, says he will go ask the manager. He comes back from like 3 registers over to relay the message. I say, "Can't she just come talk to me herself?" - to which he goes and gets her. The manager, who looks to be not much older than the teenage bag boy, states that she cannot substitute the item for me. I say, well it's not my fault that you are out of an item you have advertised for this particular week, and I don't think it's an unreasonable request, and so on. She goes on to tell me that they are supposed to be getting a truck in this evening, so if I want, I can purchase the ice cream bars at regular price, and then bring them back later to exchange OR she will give me the difference back, so $2.51. Ummm....no. I tell her that's ridiculous, I'm not coming back later. I mean, why should I be inconvenienced? In the end, she says there is really nothing else she can do. She was apologetic, but not helpful in the least. I have always tried to defend this store, since it is family run and all, but not anymore. With nothing but sub-par reviews, I don't see this store lasting much longer.... read more

I go here quite frequently since it is next to the gym I am apart of, and the prices are awesome. The staff on the other hand isn't. It's mainly the cashiers. Everyone in deli is very kind, but the cashiers are very quiet. Once you've been rung out, they turn around and start to be a chatterbox with other employees. If it weren't so close to the gym I'd take my business elsewhere. read more

Not only do they sell expired food; the prices are absolutely insane!!And the girls who work at customer service are so rude! They don't ever greet you, they let you stand there for 10 minutes and pretend that they don't see you! And if you say something to them like "excuse me" they get all huffy puffy! TERRIBLE SERVICE! Thought this would be a great addition to the area...wish there was a decent grocery store around! Prices always marked wrong and my last and final experience at this location was my debit card would not work properly so the cashier asked customer service for help to which she said it was my fault as she was chowing down on her lunch (a salad) mouth full and all. Very rude cashiers and customer service people. Do not make you feel like a valued customer, more like you are putting them out. Also, who teaches these people to bag, awful awful store. This is a nice store if you don't mind paying 50%more than Aldi's for the same item.Please don't chip the deli lunchmeat ahead of time. This drys the meat like chipped ham out and packs it down when there is 10 lb of preccut meat on top of the meat you get. Isalys used to chip ham when you bought it, 1 lb at a time and it was way better than yours. This store has a great frozen food selection. Sale items are a good deal when you can find them...they're scattered all around the store. In general this store is one of my favorite places to shop except for the dried out lunch meat. Hire someone who used to work at Isalys and they'll show you how to cut lunch meat. read more

Sometimes it's the little things. Coming home from the Sub Vets meeting today, I stopped at the North Huntingdon store for some last minute groceries for tomorrow's church luncheon. I got to the cashier with my stuff and she sweetly smiled and asked me how long I had served (I forgot I was still wearing my Sub Vet's hat). When I told her, this sweet young girl asked me "Would it be okay if I shook your hand?" As we shook hands, she said "Thank you for what you did for my country." She couldn't have been much more than eighteen years old. I waited until I got out of the store before I let myself have a small tear. Repeated awfulness on at least a dozen occasions. Right next to my gym so I sometimes run in for a few quick things afterwards. Store is dirty, produce often rotting, meat looks gray and awful, store smells bad, most rude employees in any grocery in town and cashiers frequently chat with fellow cashiers over you (the customer) while checking out. Saw a manager today - untucked, dingy & wrinkled white(ish) shirt with a snarl on his face as he fussed with some boxes. Did not even glance my way as I passed him down the cereal aisle. Sir, your employees have learned from you and not in a positive way. May Shop n Save headquarters see these accurate reviews & take action. read more

I love this store! They carry some things I can't find elsewhere and their steaks are better than the competition by far. I bought boneless strip steaks for 5.99 /lb last year and couldn't believe how tender they were. So I saw them a month ago for that price again and I wondered...could they really be that good again or was it a fluke? I just bought 2 thinking they wouldn't be but I was never so glad to be wrong. They were so good I went back the next day and bought 6 more and stuck them in my freezer. And where else can you buy a pack of SteakUm and get 2 free? read more
