It's about time I finally sat down to write a review for Top Chef Sushi (fka Yukiyama.) This has to…read morebe the best sushi I've eaten in years. It has everything going for it: quality fish, perfectly prepared rice, beautiful presentation. My go-to is the sushi regular which includes 8 pieces of sushi nigiri and one tuna roll. Often, this is sake, toro, hotate, hamachi, and/or buri. If you order this, you'll also get a small miso soup. I'm not exaggerating when I say that each piece of sushi is substantial; I'm frequently not able to eat the whole order all at once. I compare this experience to others where Japanese restaurants attempt to serve Barbie-doll sushi that wouldn't satisfy an ant. I can recall places in NYC and Brooklyn where this was sadly the case. Over time, I've had a few other items on the menu, including the sashimi deluxe. One of the most memorable highlights was freshly sliced watermelon served complimentary as "dessert" with my meal. The restaurant has to be experienced in-person to get a sense of the quirky ambiance. There's always a music video playing on a monitor next to an aquarium and huge paintings on the wall depicting different types of Japanese cuisine. The dining room has a sushi counter where I have not had the opportunity to sit. I've tried a pick-up order once (maki roll combination), and it was ready and well-packaged when I arrived, not to mention delicious. The tuna was melt-in-your-mouth gratifying. Best sushi in Pittsburgh.

I've been hearing my father-in-law rave about Western Edge Seafood Outlet for quite some time--he…read morecomes here often and always speaks highly of the quality and of Chris, the owner or manager. As a food lover and cook, I was excited to finally experience it firsthand, especially since I traveled from Arizona to visit. The seafood selection looked absolutely amazing and the store itself truly reflects the passion and hard work that has gone into building such a great business. Unfortunately, our experience at the counter was disappointing. The young woman who helped us was noticeably rude, unhelpful, and carried herself with an attitude that made us feel unwelcome. She didn't smile, seemed frustrated to be there, and it really overshadowed what should have been a great visit. What made it worse was that her customer service was not only rude to me, but also dismissive toward my senior father-in-law, showing no respect or manners whatsoever. Even he, who is usually very positive about this place, mentioned how unfortunate it was to encounter such poor customer service when the business itself is otherwise top-notch. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but my mother-in-law said she's always like that--which makes it clear this isn't an isolated incident. I normally don't write negative reviews, especially for small businesses I want to see succeed. However, customer service plays such an important role, and employees who treat guests this way don't reflect the hard work and dedication of Chris's hard-work. I truly hope management addresses this, because Western Edge deserves to shine for its incredible products--not be dragged down by one employee's attitude. So Mr. Chris, if you're reading this, you know what to do, because she is not a reflection of the amazing business you've built. Also, your chalkboard says "Be grateful, people notice" -- it would mean so much more if the employee at the front actually lived by that message. Many blessings to you all. I absolutely love Cousins and have always had amazing experiences with service and food quality…read more The menu is simple but does still give some room for choice (a hot and cold lobster roll, soup, sides, drinks). The lobster rolls are packed with flavor and something you want to gobble down because they are so good (but also really want to savor). The buns are fresh and don't seem to get soggy. I really like the lobster bisque because it actually does have pieces of lobster in it, but they definitely seem to have cut down on the amount. Even with long lines, they tend to move efficiently and you get your food fairly quickly. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because it seems like the portions have shrunk a bit despite prices going up.

Phone order, ease of parking, food prep time, meal quality and price points, rank high enough to add this spot to frequent visits. I do have to add that the pick -up experience had an odd vibe about it. I was certainly surprised to see there were at least 8 people working behind the small, cramped prep area and pay station. Since I am not a regular customer, I am not certain if this number of staff is normal during pre-covid operations, but I did not notice anyone behind the counter wearing the suggested gloves, or masks, as a precaution to themselves or their patrons. There was a large, plastic shield installed at the service counter separating staff, and patrons, and a notice was posted at the door recquiring those who enter to wear a mask. Cash only.
