Once we were seated we were greeted soon after and were able to place orders in a timely manner. I was impressed that the menu was large. There were plenty of offerings for both pizza and pasta. The pizza appeared to be Naples-inspired pizza; however, the pizza was thin but did not taste near as good as Napule in Helsinki. I liked that although it was Italian-style pizza, there were diverse offerings of toppings more preferred with American pizza. I ordered a BBQ cheeseburger pizza with BBQ sauce topping, ground beef, bacon and cheddar cheese. I also ordered a pasta with pesto sauce, fettuccini noodles, Kalamata olives, buffalo mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The pasta was very good and the pizza was OK. A small salad bar was included. Overall 3.5 star experience with good service and reasonable prices.

I've been to Amarillo dozens of times over the years because I like tex-mex a lot and you find that a lot on their menu. It's not authentic mexican but still one of the best in Tampere. It is also big enough to fit even a fairly large group and maybe that's why we've often come here with visiting relatives etc. One thing that lowers my rating for this restaurant is the super slow service and overall the S-chain restaurant attitude. The staff doesn't really put any effort into serving you because they know they'll pack a full house regardless (because people with S loyalty cards get S-bonus for all the money spent there). One thing about S-chain restaurants is also that the personnel never seem like they're selected for that particular restaurant's theme or style - they're just generic workers that are probably not very loyal and also work in a dozen other chain restaurants. The most absurd thing that happened once was that my friend found a piece of glass from his mouth as it had been in the glass he drank from. Good thing he didn't swallow! He complained to the waitress about this and asked for something to refund this and the waitress simply got pissed off and didn't offer any refund, discount or free dessert or something similar. This was just one time. I'd say on all other times the slowness of service or pure neglect is what suprprises me. Although the food is generally good and their lunch buffet isn't bad either, I protest the place because of the service.

I think the owners are cutting costs by under staffing the place. The last 3 times I have been dining here there was only 1 server and 1 chef. The topping list had no mention that the pizza would have garlic in it, in fact it's on the list as only with extra charge. We asked for the bill and as is the norm the water asked if it was good, I politely said, not really. She asked why and I told her the above things - garlic, the doughy bottom, swimming in greasy mess and I added that the tomatoes on top were cold and uncooked. She ignored all the other things and told me that that's the way the tomatoes are suppose to be, because they are added after cooking. I'm fine with being told food is the way it suppose to be, like tomatoes - fine. I'm not ok with being ignored about the actual mistakes in the food: so much grease you could cook fries in it, dough raw bottom and not asked for garlic. After that we got the bill with no word of apology. I think that was what did it for me, I politely told them I wasn't happy with the food and could not eat it and they shrug it off. So in short it's horribly overpriced and more terrible then the cheapest midnight pizza I've ever had.

The pizzas are box-filling large with plenty of fillings. There's sometimes a hurried feel to them that you see but likely won't taste. It's a busy restaurant at times with the phone constantly ringing. The place itself has a worn out feel to it, but it's comfortable. The salad bar (included) is mediocre on the best of days. Skip it, unless you are terribly hungry. There's decent roadside parking. Note that you need a parking disc.
