Since we were such a large group, we had a set menu with family style dining. The appetizer was a traditional tasty black salsify soup -- a great start. Sides were fairly traditional but flavorful -- rosemary potatoes and some kind of beetroot dish come to mind. There was a ton of meat for the main course -- the ribs were my favorite! Tender and plenty of meat on them. It took a while for the food to arrive and I was hungry when the food showed up. I started to cut through the steak and it was tough to cut through. I can't remember ever cutting through a ribeye that tough. The steak was chewy like rubber but the rosemary butter and cognac green pepper sauce were good. The Caesar Salad and Parmesan fries were also good. The server didn't check on us much and it took a while to be able to request the bill and check out. Both the quality of the meat and the service could have been better. I typically don't mention price in my reviews but in this case I paid a premium but did not get premium food or service in return. 2.5 stars!

During my Finland trip I wanted to try as much local food culture as I could, and though the decor in Harald restaurants is quite tacky and touristy, I just had to try it. Their menu offers lots of amazing choices, I tried the smoked reindeer soup for a starter, which was very rich and smooth and went really well with the cranberry puree it's topped with. For my main I chose the Sausage Pan Of Alf Leatherpants, which comes with succulent lamb sausages, very rich game sausage, the most delicious cheese potatoes, beetroot and lots of caramelized onion. It was a rich, earthy dish with a lot of great flavours, perfect for a cold winter night! For dessert I treated myself to Iona's Liquorice Mousse, which consisted of a fine, delicate liquorice mousse, raspberry and liquorice sorbet, liquorice meringue and a light raspberry syrup. This sounded like it might be a little too much, especially as I'm not a huge fan of liquorice, but I felt drawn to it and had to give it a go. Turns out it is nowhere near as overwhelming as I suspected it might be, the flavours are delicate and light, the textures compliment each other really well, and the raspberry lightens up the dish to give it a sweet and tart undertone. Environment: Place is kinda small. There might be around 15 seats. A lot of people order by phone and take out. Interiors are nice and inviting. Service: Downside here is that they have a really small kitchen in the back and normally there is only one guy working and sometimes two so getting the food can be a bit of a wait. Last time I called ahead and they said that it will be ready after 15mins and when I got there 15mins later they hadn't even started my order. So I ended up waiting for 30mins in total. So call ahead if you are in a hurry and you have to understand that the dishes are really custom made for your order. Price: Not the cheapest place around Tampere especially if you compare to some chinese restaurants but still the concept is unique so you really can't compare. The dishes run around 10€ and up.
