I went back for my appointment on a busy Saturday morning and it was obvious that the staff knew everyone. It has a lovely atmosphere. After checking I was sure I really wanted the chop - they helped me by braiding my hair for the donation and cutting it off. I then got the usual wash and cut treatment and I totally love the style Ciara gave me. Wash, cut and blowdry is normally 35, which is great value. When I went to pay they knocked ten euro off the price to contribute to my donation, which I thought was the soundest thing. Ella Hair has all the best things about being a local hairdressers and a stylish salon.

I've been getting my hair cut with Deirdre for about 3 years. I don't get my hair cut very often,…read moremaybe 3 times a year at most, mostly because I can't decide on one hairstyle and am forever growing it thinking I want it long then heading to the hairdresser for a right chop. Deirdre has been great in styling my hair to my needs. I decided to go natural for a few months and stop straightening my hair, she cut it for wavy and the odd straight day. She has also not been shy to advise me against certain styles and suggest others. She listens to me in the consultation and is the only hairdresser (bar one of her stylists) I have come across who actually listens to me and does what I want. Now, she is on the pricey side, €50 for a cut, which I didn't think was that bad, but friends tell me that they wouldn't pay that much. I find that the styles she has given me, though, grow out quite well and therefore I don't need to go back for months on end. My mum uses this service every 8 weeks or so for a cut and colour. My sister also goes to Deridre for a cut, only about as often as me (4 months-ish) and we have all found ourselves going back to this salon with a greater loyalty than to any other.

It is not very clean (not cleaned after each cut) and everything is a bit outdated. And then the hairdresser (Amy) does not do what you ask but basically what she wants and apparently the only cut she knows. When you complain and say this is not what you wanted (despite explaining it twice before the cut), she is the one who is angry and instead of apologising that a customer did not get the service she paid for, she argues that she is the hairdresser and therefore knows how to cut hair and that she doesn't need my explanations to do her job. I rang the salon and the receptionist told me that the senior hairdresser I regularly go to won't accept my booking over not being happy with my hair at Christmas and receiving a refund. I just want to point out that I was offered a refund by Collage due to Level 5 restrictions which meant the salon had to close. I consider this to be unprofessional and petty to cut a regular client because they were unhappy with their hair on "one" occasion and not being able to communicate this at the time. I've been going to Collage for the past 15 years and have given them plenty of custom over the years. I consider it very important to support local businesses but, will be taking my custom elsewhere.

Extremely bad and lying company…read more Unfortunately even though the staff was very nice and polite, they lack the basic knowledge od hair caring in colour and cutting. I paid a reasonable price they were asking for their work and got the worst hair in 20 years. They burned it, made holes in the cut and absolutely ruined my hair with cheap products. When I went to the owner to ask for a refund she was pretending she couldn't see what was wrong even though she was offering some sort of glaze; but ended up blaming the shampoo I was using and accused me of trying to take HER money. Why blame the shampoo if there was nothing wrong and offer a "repair"? When I wanted to post the review on her fb page I realised she blocked me and that she was also allowing only 5* reviews to be published. And the 5* reviews got me to that salon in the first place.
