It is not very clean (not cleaned after each cut) and everything is a bit outdated. And then the hairdresser (Amy) does not do what you ask but basically what she wants and apparently the only cut she knows. When you complain and say this is not what you wanted (despite explaining it twice before the cut), she is the one who is angry and instead of apologising that a customer did not get the service she paid for, she argues that she is the hairdresser and therefore knows how to cut hair and that she doesn't need my explanations to do her job. Don't ever go there!

The reason I am leaving this review is because I sent an email regarding my concerns and nobody got back to me which is so unprofessional. I went in looking for a fringe and a few long layers and my hair was pretty long to be told my forehead was too short for a fringe. I did explain twice that I had one before and I loved it but again I was told it wouldn't work so I accepted that and was told then that I would have 2-3 inches taken off my hair as I expressed more than once I wanted the length left and that was fine as I knew it needed a little off it but there was way more than 3 inches taken off. I was told I would have long bangs at the side but I don't. It just looks all uneven in the front when it's straightened. It's far too thinned out and Sharon explained she wasn't thinning it but adding layers underneath so that it would sit nice when I blowdryed it. I also explained the one thing I didn't want was my hair cut straight across and that's exactly what I got. There is nothing positive I can say about my hair. It is ruined and I have a wedding in 6 weeks. I am now going to have to spend a lot of money to get hair extensions in. I didn't say anything when I was there because I was trying not to cry when I saw the end result. My partner just gasped when he saw it. I can honestly say I trusted that going to your salon and paying €112 that your head stylist knew what she was doing. I'm beyond upset. That said, since getting a real grown up job, time is of the essence and finding a place that did after work haircuts near my office was key. Toni & Guy offered a stylist cut for €42. This may seem a bit much, but David Marshall charges around 35 for those terrible four hour students cuts now, and my haircut at Toni & Guy was spot on. My stylist was Dennis, who had five years experience and was incredibly calm and reassuring, and very good at making certain I was completely happy with everything he did. He also didn't upsell me by telling me I shouldn't home-dye my hair (which usually happens). Everyone was chatty and friendly, and I'm definitely going to be going back here from now on. As a bonus, you can get your fringe cut for free in between visits.

The students you're modelling for aren't beginners (who practise on these creepy looking dummy heads) and every step is supervised. Plus, you get the sideshow entertainment of watching the supervisors criticise the life out of the students...then feed them praise...then take it away again. Better than reality TV. Three points: 1. They only do it weekdays in the mornings. 2. You've to book in advance (6706749) 3. It can take about two hours, because the student has to show every step to their supervisor before they can move on.

I used the same stylist for 2 years, then she left. I floated around and used several others until I latched onto David who always does what I ask and makes my hair look fab. Deirdre has been great in styling my hair to my needs. I decided to go natural for a few months and stop straightening my hair, she cut it for wavy and the odd straight day. She has also not been shy to advise me against certain styles and suggest others. She listens to me in the consultation and is the only hairdresser (bar one of her stylists) I have come across who actually listens to me and does what I want. Now, she is on the pricey side, €50 for a cut, which I didn't think was that bad, but friends tell me that they wouldn't pay that much. I find that the styles she has given me, though, grow out quite well and therefore I don't need to go back for months on end. My mum uses this service every 8 weeks or so for a cut and colour. My sister also goes to Deridre for a cut, only about as often as me (4 months-ish) and we have all found ourselves going back to this salon with a greater loyalty than to any other.

In other words exactly what I want in a hairdressers and for the price, well worthy of five stars. They close for a few weeks over the summer to take holidays which I think is brilliant. Understandably I think the extended closure caused confusion in other reviewers (they are back open now). It's 28 euro for a cut and blowdry with all organic products and a head massage thrown in for good measure. The Hungarian stylist, Julia (I think) is lovely and possibly the gentlest hairdresser I've ever experienced! Closed my eyes at one point and could hardly tell she was doing anything; none of the tugging you endure at some hairdressers. It really is a state of the art salon, one that Dublin badly needs and a make over that Peter Mark really needed too! The salon is a training academy so students can cut your hair for a good 20% discount and are supervised at all times. And the price list is pretty standard even though there are new and improved Redken Hair treatments and new methods of colouring. It is €48 for a cut, style and blow dry! Excellent!
