I happened to be flicking through Yelp the other day and noticed he had opened his own shop with business partner Fabian. Naturally I had to pop along to check it out. It starts with the offer of a cold beer, a comfortable barber chair and a proper consultation about what exactly you are looking for. It then progresses to more hot towels than first class on an Emirates flight and finishes with an amazing head massage which Luke modestly suggested is the reason why people keep coming back. Luke is a really good barber. If the council drafted him in to do all of the road markings in Dublin city centre you could be guaranteed all of the lines would be perfect angles, such is the talent on offer at The Fireplace Barbershop. This is no chop shop so expect to pay a little bit more than your average. In my opinion this is more than just a beard trim or a hair cut. Its an experience - a treat for any man who wants to show himself that he is deserving of such attention to detail. Lots of Barbershops have popped up nowadays offering things like beers and old school fades - but not many are as special as this one on South William Street.

Indication 1: a customer brought his young son in for a cut and the boy was greeted with a round of manly high-fives. Indication 2: The staff was friendly and the barber really knew his cowlicks and sideburns - even taking time to properly trim and even-off the lines at the neck (not so important to the head of hair, but a noticeable detail to the person staring at the back of said head). Indication 3: Himself felt very welcome and instantly comfortable -plus, with the entire treatment coming to just €12, it was a bargain too!

Ash had work that spoke to me the most so I sent her a message on Instagram asking for her pricing and describing what I wanted. She got back to me quickly and we got something on the books for when I was free during my trip. You pay a €50 deposit when you book and the rest has to be paid in cash after your session is done. When I arrived they checked me in and Ash came and got me a few minutes later. She let my friend come back with me for moral support and to help me answer questions. Ash showed me the sketches she did based off of my request and we made a couple of tiny edits so it was exactly how I wanted. She then printed a few size options out so I could figure out how big I wanted it to be, then she printed out the stencil. Once I got in the chair Ash was very gentle and walked me through everything, answering all of my questions. The tattoo itself hardly hurt at all. I'm someone who has chronic pain so I'm used to being in pain all the time, so that could explain why the tattoo pain didn't bother me at all. I just chatted with Ash and my friend the whole time and was totally fine. The tattoo itself took about an hour and a half to complete. Once we were done, Ash put on some Second Skin and walked me through the aftercare. She gave me a few sheets of Second Skin to take with me so I could make sure my tattoo was protected while I wandered around Dublin for the next few days. She answered all of my questions and I left feeling confident in my ability to take care of my new tattoo. I'm now three days into the healing process and it's doing great! The first night was brutal and I was kept up by the pain most of the night but after that it was much more manageable. I have it uncovered now and am moisturizing it whenever it gets dry or tight feeling. I can't wait for it to be fully healed in a few weeks! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would definitely go back again if circumstances allowed. If you're looking for a fantastic tattoo parlor, this is your place!

Love the old style wood look of place and smells nice of fragrances of old barber shop. Needed a beard trim and shave. Arrived next day and had Angelos from Greece who's been doing hair for 7 years. Has quick consultation and just let him do what he wanted that would look good for me shaggy white beard. I like how neat the stations are setup Got a hot towel. And he buzzed cut and scissors cut as well as straight edge shave. Like the smells of the ointments and shave gels and powdered brush. I liked my trim... Albeit when I got home with my closeup mirror I noticed missed I shaved spots and random stragglers hairs on beard. I had my own scissors and 4 blade shave so just cleaned up and gave an even closer shave. This treatment was €30 euro with $3 tip. Would I do this again? Butcher Barbers is exactly that. Its a testosterone fuelled man cave of pampering. They know what you want by talking to you, execute it well and take their time doing it. They work by appointment only so I never have to sit waiting for himself to join and endless queue of bored guys all waiting on the same haircut like he used to! He raves about his stylist, Billy, who is as friendly and welcoming as he is good with a scissors. OH looks forward to his haircuts and man time now and I'm happy that I don't have to listen to him give about about looking "scaldy" for a week after his haircut anymore!!

Hakkan handled everything with complete professionalism. But the best part is after I got my hair cut and you walk out of the barber you are right in the city center and the all city gets a different light.
