I used to get my beard trimmed by Luke when he worked in another barber shop. Then one day he just vanished! I happened to be flicking through Yelp the other day and noticed he had opened his own shop with business partner Fabian. Naturally I had to pop along to check it out. It starts with the offer of a cold beer, a comfortable barber chair and a proper consultation about what exactly you are looking for. It then progresses to more hot towels than first class on an Emirates flight and finishes with an amazing head massage which Luke modestly suggested is the reason why people keep coming back. Luke is a really good barber. If the council drafted him in to do all of the road markings in Dublin city centre you could be guaranteed all of the lines would be perfect angles, such is the talent on offer at The Fireplace Barbershop. This is no chop shop so expect to pay a little bit more than your average. In my opinion this is more than just a beard trim or a hair cut. Its an experience - a treat for any man who wants to show himself that he is deserving of such attention to detail. What an absolute gem of a barbers, definitely one for the man who wants a bit of pampering. And if you've never been pampered before, give it a go you'll love it. I can't speak to there hair styling ability (yet), but there beard styling abilities are unquestionable. I saw guys getting a full hot towel shave too and they looked very happy! I was here as part of the Yelp Fix up Look Sharp series. There was a very warm greeting and was offered a coffee or beer, had a lovely Hawaiian pale ale. The decor is great, feels very authentic old-school barbers. Mr Fabian talked to me about what I wanted and where I wanted to go with my beard. So after deciding I wanted to grow my beard out he talked me through what he planned to do and then we got underway. There was an abundance of hot towels on the go and a lovely head massage to finish up. I felt like a new man after the treatment. I was really happy with my trim, Mr Fabian took his time and talked me through looking after my beard. Definitely going to try growing out my beard, so I'll be back every few weeks for a trim and pampering. The prices are also very reasonable for the time and professionalism that goes in! read more

Went for the Fix Up Look Sharp event after a long day at work and it made my day. Had a beer, beard trim and hot towel with a lot of good smelling products. Typically trim my beard myself and I never got that done by a professional, but you can tell the difference and it´s totally worth it if you wanna look great for a special occasion. So this was a hard one! I didn't want to wright a review because I want this place all to myself! Selfish right? Well the Yelper inside me gave way! You'll be greeted with a smile and shortly after a coffee or beer while you sit down at the counter. Kinda like waiting at a classy bar for your table. But this bar is for men! Men's men, unshaven and scraggy beards are welcome. I was in for the hot towel shave. I have had one before but this was like no other! I'm not sure how long I was that chair but when I opened up my eyes again I felt like a new man! Incredibly relaxing! Seriously good and one I'll be back for. Even better than I imagined it was going to be.!! Rocked up here as part of the Yelp Fix Up Look Sharp series of events. Really like what the lads, Luke and Fabian have done with the place. They are here approx six months but the vibe of the place is so lived in, cosy and vintage that it feels more like they must have set up shop in 1916 than last year. Complimentary bottles of beer were provided. I had the Fire Rock pale ale which was very moreish haha. Fabian said he had tried it in Hawaii, loved it, and brought a suitcase of the stuff home with him. Solid thinking haha Was a great buzz in the place. Best chats I've had and heard on a Yelp event to date for sure!! I got the traditional hot towel shave from Luke which was simply amazing, best I've had, hands down. Delighted to have found this little spot. A great vintage style barbers run by two nice guys who really know what they are doing when it comes to beards and facial hair. I have quite a big beard and moustache and it's great to get advice on how to keep it in shape and good condition. The guys gave me some really great tips. The beard trim was excellent and you get to feel a little pampered with the hot towels and the head massage all leaving me feeling fantastic. The prices are pretty reasonable especially considering how much care and attention the guys give and also their level of expertise The place is very cool with beers and some very chilled music. They have definitely converted me and I will be back very soon to keep my beard in check. read more

There's a couple of milestones in a man's life when it comes to shaving...first Mach 3, first time dealing with a Turk in Kusadasi and now The Fireplace Barbershop. It's the next level of all experiences without the pretentiousness. My face was wrapped more times than Tutankhamun and swift and precise work by Mr Fabian resulted in the most asymetrical beard i've seen. Old school barber shop aromas fill the room along with Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday. A classy place, run by two classy lads. read more

They are perfectionists when it comes to cutting hair and it's not just their skill that makes the place unique. It's genuinely difficult to find a barber you trust in Dublin. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of places to get your haircut, plenty of good places too, but very few offer a consistent experience. The opposite is true for Fireplace. You will only have your hair cut by one of two barbers. Ideal if you have an awkward cut or are terrified of being scalped! Both guys are great, very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to about what they think will work for your hair. The shop itself is really nice, relaxing and always well presented. Coffee etc is complimentary too! I would recommend booking as it is available at all times of the day, oh and they're open on a Sunday, how handy is that!? read more

Great old-school barber with a modern twist, I chanced just walking in and not making an appointment and got lucky, Fabian was very welcoming and offered me a beer or coffe whilst he sets up. I don't know why I've not reviewed this little gem of a barbers before now, considering it's on Yelp that I found them. They are located on South William St (literally my favourite street in Dublin), which is not short on barbers ; I think there may be 3 or 4 at this stage. I was going to a barbers in Temple Bar before I found T.F.B, or more specifically, Luke. I was getting sick of the conveyor-belt vibe in the other place, to be honest. So I did a little research and found these. I made the rookie mistake of not booking in advance though, on the first occasion. I soon learned, and I actually think each time I've been here, they've had to turn away guys who hoped for a walk-in cut. They are pretty vocal (and always pleasant) about the advantage of booking, so obviously I'll advocate this too. One great thing, also, is that they are pretty good with time. I've never been kept waiting long. There is only so much I can say about a gents cut, in fairness, but I've loved my hair each time I left. And I've not done that quick scramble to the nearest mirror to fix it once I leave (we've all done it!). I'm happy to give these guys my custom and recommend them highly to any guy who wants a personal touch (and a beer or coffee) with his hair cut. A well deserved 5 Stars. read more

i've had my beard for years but never taken trimming or looking after it well all that seriously, i've always shaved it myself. the staff were really friendly and knew their beards. They trimmed up mine really well, it looks better than it ever has at the moment! Found this spot while looking for a last minute haircut before Christmas. Was lucky to walk in just as they'd had a cancellation and so Fabian was able to take me. Really loved this place from beginning to end. Fabian gave some great suggestions, and an even better cut; I'm really very happy with it. Cosy atmosphere and great conversation makes this easily one of the best haircut experiences I've had. They're both very evidently pros. The cut was also very reasonably priced. Mr Luke at The Fireplace Barbershop is a truly excellent barber. Having visited 5 or 6 times, I've never left disappointed. The shop offers top quality barbering with prompt, attentive service and friendly chat. Complimentary Hop House, coffee, etc., offered with each cut, too. Got a cut off Fabian. He took the time to make suggestions about the best cut for my hair at the outset and how to style it afterwards. Very much not a rushed experience as spent c. 45/50 mins on my cut despite being the last client of the day but was all the better for it. Got my hair cut here for the first time today, last minute thing. Nice setup, familiar faces from other places I've used in the past. OK the reason for the 2 stars... I asked for a shorter fringe as I am used to flicking my fringe back and wanted a change, showed a picture. For whatever reason he completely took all the length from top, way shorter than I'd ever allow it be cut. The sides actually have more length than the top so I have to go get it fixed by my usual barber when he's back. Because I've fine hair it looks like I'm bald on top and the sides are sticking out, didn't realise how bad it was until a friend pointed it out. Not sure if he forgot he'd already cut it on top and went again. I think we both knew it wasn't a good result and showed him the picture again at the end. Will have to wait weeks to get some length back in it. Sorry lads to detract from the business after just one visit but it's left me out of pocket and not very happy. read more
