I went here for my first tattoo a few days ago and had an amazing experience. I knew I wanted to get a tattoo while in Ireland and this place had really good reviews, so I looked at their artists. Ash had work that spoke to me the most so I sent her a message on Instagram asking for her pricing and describing what I wanted. She got back to me quickly and we got something on the books for when I was free during my trip. You pay a €50 deposit when you book and the rest has to be paid in cash after your session is done. When I arrived they checked me in and Ash came and got me a few minutes later. She let my friend come back with me for moral support and to help me answer questions. Ash showed me the sketches she did based off of my request and we made a couple of tiny edits so it was exactly how I wanted. She then printed a few size options out so I could figure out how big I wanted it to be, then she printed out the stencil. Once I got in the chair Ash was very gentle and walked me through everything, answering all of my questions. The tattoo itself hardly hurt at all. I'm someone who has chronic pain so I'm used to being in pain all the time, so that could explain why the tattoo pain didn't bother me at all. I just chatted with Ash and my friend the whole time and was totally fine. The tattoo itself took about an hour and a half to complete. Once we were done, Ash put on some Second Skin and walked me through the aftercare. She gave me a few sheets of Second Skin to take with me so I could make sure my tattoo was protected while I wandered around Dublin for the next few days. She answered all of my questions and I left feeling confident in my ability to take care of my new tattoo. I'm now three days into the healing process and it's doing great! The first night was brutal and I was kept up by the pain most of the night but after that it was much more manageable. I have it uncovered now and am moisturizing it whenever it gets dry or tight feeling. I can't wait for it to be fully healed in a few weeks! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would definitely go back again if circumstances allowed. If you're looking for a fantastic tattoo parlor, this is your place! read more

Incredible experience at the parliament street location around the corner today. I just walked in for a septum piercing, and Hannah at the front desk was extremely kind, patient, and helpful. This is my 12th piercing, and it's by far the fasted and smoothest I've had so far. The piercer (inked up bald man with cool baggy jeans sorry didn't catch a name) was SO experienced, reassuring, knowledgeable, and overall was amazing at his job. Went here for my first tattoo ever and can easily say I would go back for 20 more. I got a tattoo to commemorate my strong Irish heritage, I'm half Irish from my mother's side and figured there was no other place to do it but here in Ireland from an Irish artist. My artist was Maja and she was amazing, she modified my original designs to fit my body and made it more feminine, and she was very attentive during the entire process. I placed my tattoo on my ribs, which is typically a very painful place, but she made it so effortless and quick. The ink factory itself is a beautiful place filled with art and charm, everyone there is supportive and kind and few other artists would come over to take a look at my design and cheer me on. Update: April 2017 Under a year after getting my first tattoo at the Ink Factory, I came back to Dublin and got not one but THREE more tattoos. Babs, their photographer, was there again and once again greeted me warmly. Sandor was the artist that worked in me, and he was patient, friendly, and fantastic. He patiently worked with me to help me with the final design and did outstanding work. The owners Rob and Tom remembered us from our last visit and made us feel at home. So much so that my friend decided to get a piercing the next day (and is also very happy with the result). I can't recommend this place enough! You need to make a €50 deposit online through PayPal ahead of time and make sure you have cash on the day you're getting work done since they don't accept cards. Once again, I give them 5 stars all around!! I wanted to get my first tattoo for my 40th birthday during my Dublin visit, and after much research, I decided to book an appointment here, the main reason being how attentive the staff was in responding to my emails from abroad, asking for photos of what I wanted, and asking all the right questions. They made it very easy to choose them and made me feel secure in my first tattoo experience. When I arrived in Dublin I went to visit the Ink Factory, as I was very curious to see it and get a feel for it. My friend and I were greeted by Babs, who is the local photographer. She was super friendly and answered all my questions. We also had an opportunity to meet the shop's owner and his very handsome English bulldog. I already knew I'd made the right decision. Although my initial appointment was cancelled, it was rescheduled for two days later. I believe that everything happens for a reason, because my experience couldn't have been better. Maya ended up being my artist and she was amazing. She was professional and walked me through the process, as I was a bit nervous. She adjusted the design exactly to what I wanted and when we got started, she was so precise and gentle. Give her 5 stars as well. I had the pleasure of working with Mario. I booked an appointment online and the process was easy. Submitted a deposit online and was excited for the tattoo I would be getting. The manager was nice and she kept things moving. She seemed very busy but was in good spirits the entire time. I wanted to get a harp as I have an heavy Irish heritage and didn't want to leave Ireland without something to show for it. When I arrived I was asked to sit on the bench and wait for Mario to become available. I waited probably an hour which having an appointment I was a little puzzled about. When I finally met with him he explained they had a flood downstairs and he had to move his gear to another spot. He was apologetic and for the inconvenience said name your price for the tattoo. We agreed on a price I thought was fair but still beneficial to him for his time. He let me know the inspiration picture I submitted couldn't really be done unless it was a certain size. I let him take some time to come up with something and when he showed me I was pleased. It is definitely original. He explained that he was good at American traditional tattoos. I'm glad I went with his version as it is definitely not the same Harp you'll see all over Pinterest. I also didn't have the time to sit for hours and hours as I was on a vacation with a group of people. I got married on the cliffs of Moher a week after this and wanted something to remember it by. This place is cool! Super cool... Love it here and yes, to another reviewers point it houses a few things under one roof so where do you start with your review! Been here a few times now, grabbed coffee on every visit... Cloud Picker coffee plus hot chocolate options too! Coffee is nice, it's sits about 4 stars so yes, way better than the nasty stuff from Starbucks and Costa yet not quite the finest coffee in Dublin though, pleasant and happy to sip a latte and watch the craze going on at the barber area and tattoo area. I've also had a dermal piercing which I was really impressed with. The guys attention to detail, he was very clean and professional plus as he was lining it up against a previous dermal I was really happy with his advice on how best to position it and didn't rush me, allowed me time to look at it to make sure I was happy with the placement. €40 for the dermal piercing. Also had a dermal jewel changed here and really happy with the attention paid to it, although a low value request I was super impressed with the equipment used plus after he gloved up, he needed to grab something from a storage box and then without a second thought, he changed up his gloves before starting with the jewel change. €6 for that, was a bargain! Will always come back here for any maintenance or swap out's I do! So next, is a tattoo... Will be definitely have the guys at this place do my tattoo once I finalise the piece I want :-) read more

I got a tattoo with Lucas S. when I was in Dublin on holiday and my experience was great from start to finish. Their online booking process made it easy to set up an appointment from abroad and they were really responsive, making sure that everything was confirmed. I was also able to upload a picture of what I wanted and a picture of the placement to ensure that Lucas would be prepared when I arrived. The shop was clean and well lit and the staff were all friendly and cheerful. Lucas did a great job sizing the tattoo to fit the location on my arm perfectly and it turned out exactly how I envisioned it. His line work was great and it's healing perfectly. I wanted to make sure that the details were clear, but that it stayed delicate and not over-worked, and I'm very very happy with the end result. Full disclosure - I probably should've asked a few more questions when booking my tattoo appointment, and been more clear on what exactly I wanted done despite the fact I sent several images of what I wanted done. I went to The Ink Factory along with two other friends, and we all wanted tattoos. We had visited the website several times to see which artist we would like to work with. We set our appointment nearly two weeks before the date since we were traveling and saw how busy it gets. We were notified that the artists we wanted to work with were not available on the date we wanted our work done, but were reassured that an artist who matched the style of what we wanted done would be selected for us. This is where I really should've asked more questions, specifically what artist they had in mind. Fast forward to the date of, and all three of us were booked with the same artist. His profile is not on their website, and, per the artist, his specialty is portraits - something none of us were getting. He had a hard time downloading the images we had sent over of what we wanted tattooing as well as making the necessary alterations. We had other artists stopping by and asking him if he needed help. Furthermore, we sat around waiting for him when we got there; not because he was busy but because he had to be told his appointments were there (appt was at 5pm, got there early and didn't get to us until 5:40p). My friend went first, and the prep for the tattoos (not the cleaning, ink prepping, etc) took the longest -basically, getting the images just right of what she wanted done. I went second, and similarly had issues getting across what I wanted done. I had requested something very geometrical and colorful, but he did not seem very comfortable with this. Furthermore, he pretty much disagreed with every choice I wanted from color to line size. Again, I truly believe I should've walked away. My other friend went last, and, while the image was an easy transfer, she felt he had gone a lot bigger than she wanted. I would still recommend The Ink Factory if you're a local or have a very simple request/tattoo in mind. Definitely make sure the artist you want to work with is available, or have the image you want ready exactly as you want it. I would have honestly appreciated better communication from management, such as who would be the artist, samples of their work, or even a better match-up with an artist comfortable with a modern/geometrical work (I can't speak for my other two friends). Had I known earlier, I would've booked elsewhere. I do plan on having the tattoo done corrected. read more

So this is how the story goes: On this dark and dreary Irish day... back in January... I was visiting Ireland on my lonesome and decided to get a tattoo as a memory of my travels. So I yelp some tattoo shops that might tickle my fancy. So I see this tattoo shop that is also a tea/coffee and barbershop as well. Who am i to judge, considering I come from the hipster capital of the world (San Francisco.) I take a look at the artists work, and am super impressed. So I decide to walk the mile and a half to the shop, while getting lost and rained on and almost blown over by the wind. I finally approach what I am hoping is the store front to Ink Factory (I almost went back a few times.) As I walk in, there is this SUPER cute sprite looking woman named...Babs. First of all, Babs is amazing. She handles the front area. Immediately, she was like how can I help you, with all smiles. I knew I came to the right place. I had no idea of what i wanted to get, except for a huge board on Pinterest that I wouldn't mind just randomly picking from. So long story short..er. Babs let me hang out with her, and let me use the computer to pick a design that I wanted. She never ONCE made me feel like i was bothering her, or feel like an idiot for walking into a tattoo shop and not knowing what I want. So after about an hour, we picked out a beautiful Claddaugh design and was able to set me up with Ian. Ian. Ian is the prince charming in this story. First of all, when I gave him several ideas, he gave me real feedback on what would look good, take a long time, painful, blah blah. He was extremely patient and all smiles on helping me figure something out. I was making this simple Claddaugh design complicated with Ombre colors...on every design. He took it like a champ. So as we are getting ready for the tattoo, i'm super nervous, and both Ian and Babs are taking it in stride and making me feel comfortable. (Thank you again for that!!) So Babs helps me pick out where i'm getting my tattoo and we decide on the back of my thigh (I was definitely regretting my choice of pink Minnie Mouse panties at that point.) As Ian is working on my tattoo... my body starts to tremble then shake. On this trip, I did not eat very much or sleep a lot, so Ian mentioned my body was going into shock. I was extremely embarrassed and was having panic attacks. He just pretended not to notice and kept on working. He asked me once if I was okay, I responded I was. Babs then comes over and is like, I can go across to the shop to get you some food or a sugary drink? (Like I said, the people here are freaking amazing!) The tattoo was almost finished, so I declined. My tattoo came out more amazing than i had thought in my head. It is exactly what I wanted and I absolutely love it. I will try and post a picture on here another time, when I have someone able to take the photo for me. Ian's vision was amazing, and i am forever grateful for the Ink Factory team for making my trip and my body art, memorable, and for placing one of my most favorite tattoo's on my body. I had a really relaxing time sitting here for an hour over a coffee while killing time. I had seen this place a load of times while on the bus and was very curious about the idea. I ordered a cappuccino which was really delish, much better than some of the stuff you'd get in a chain store. I believe they use Cloud Picker coffee. What was particularly cool is that there was a much more welcoming atmosphere than you get in a lot of tattoo shops. I love the idea of coming in for your coffee and maybe even getting a chat with the artists/piercers, without feeling intimidated. It seemed like a place that wouldn't be very judgemental-- for example if you just wanted a small tattoo. It seems like they are open to just about an clientele, rather than being snobby about "real" tattoos. If that makes any sense. There was also a lovely buzz (no pun intended) about the barbershop part of the premises, with even a couple of kids around. It was just really pleasant. There were some art books by the window and it was nice to leaf through while watching people go by. I would definitely consider coming here for a piercing or tattoo if I ever wanted one. One suggestion I'd make is to put portfolios by the window so that someone having coffee could leaf through! I was too shy to ask because realistically I'm not trying to get a tattoo right now (money, money, money), but I would have loved to inspect the work, just in case. read more

I went in recently to have a tattoo done with a friend and the smell of the coffee hit me - I was done. The coffee is rather good, I also had a John Lemon (delish!) and had a little nosey around at what others were doing. My sister and I had an excellent experience getting pierced by Rakan today. We were originally going to getting matching tragus piercings but after scoping out some pictures online I opted for a forward helix and cartilage piercing while my sister stuck with her tragus and daith because she read the daith is supposed to help with migraines which she unfortunately has to deal with on an almost weekly basis. Rakan and his assistant were patient while we made our decisions and made us feel at ease through the entire process. And oh yea - they were REALLY friendly! They don't have a wide selection of jewelry because they aren't a full piercing shop (I believe this is the reason, anyway) but we were happy with the simple titanium jewelry so this wasn't an issue, plus the price of €25 per piercing, including jewelry is pretty unbeatable. The coffee was pretty good, too! Minus one star because the credit card machine was broken and I really hate paying for things in cash especially when it's over €50. read more

My review is a little delayed due to having my tattoo redone here in the states. Let me first start off by saying most of my experience with the Ink Factory was very positive. Great front desk staff and customer service. I decided to get a tattoo in honor of my Irish Grandfather and chose to have it done while visiting Dublin last September. I made my tattoo apt way in advance with Maja but then was told she wasn't available so they booked me with Fernando. When I arrived for my apt Fernando was not even in that day. I was told that Diana would now do my tattoo. I think that is very unprofessional to switch the artist out right before my tattoo is to be done. I have NEVER had that happen to me in the states. Diana escorted me to her chair and we went over the drawing of my tattoo. I pointed out that she missed a detail and she then corrected it. Getting caught up in the moment, I realized after she started tattooing that she hadn't even discussed the ink colors with me and she chose them herself without my approval before starting. I could tell she was going too deep given my previous tattoo experience which was later confirmed. The tattoo looked okay when I left. The salve that was given to me did not help the healing process at all and I had to stop using. My tattoo became infected even though I was taking care of it the same way I had with my previous successful tattoos. Well a lot of the color faded out and it left me with scarring in the areas Diana went too deep. It looked absolutely awful. I wound up having to have the whole tattoo redone here in the states and am now very happy with the results. The tattooist who redid my tat said that Diana had done a horrible job and because of the infection of going into deep caused the scarring. What was supposed to be a great experience in Ireland by getting a tattoo in honor of my Grandfather now left me with a mess and angry about my experience. I will say I did get a nose piercing by Rakan when I was there and that experience was 100% great! He was beyond awesome! I do believe Diana has some improvements to make for sure and it is not cool by any means that the Ink Factory switched artists on me like that. If that had ever happened in the states I would have walked out right then and there. read more

I have to say, I walked by this place around the time I first got here in February and I was a tad skeptical -- a barber, coffee shop, tattoo and piercing parlor all in one? How clean/good could this be? But when I was looking up ratings of local tattoo places to decide where to get mine done, I saw they were in the top 5, so I decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed. Their customer service is wonderful; typically I feel intimidated when I walk into tattoo parlors because the artists talk down to me as if I have no clue what I'm doing/don't belong there(if you only saw me you might think I'm a little too vanilla to get a tattoo, but I already have multiple), and I always do my research before I get one so I'm no rookie to the game. However that wasn't the case here, all of the staff was incredibly helpful and always made sure I was being taken care of. My artist was Aline, and when they set me up with her at my consultation I KNEW I came to the right place; she was exactly what I was looking for. Her style was very delicate and whimsical, and her colors weren't super bold which I loved. I've never been to a place where I walked in to my appointment and didn't know what was about to go on my body either, but when I walked in on Tuesday to see what Aline had come up with from the ideas I sent her in my email, I was blown away. She really hit the nail on the head, and it came out even better than I expected! Moral of the story: if you need a tattoo(or a hair cut, or a cup of coffee...) this is the place to go. :) read more

Got a forward helix piercing done, would never heal no matter I tried. I went to swords ink to ask for advice and it turns out ink factory used a curved bar and not a straight bar so with the curved bar it would've never ever healed. Would not recommend if they can't even put in the right earrings to go with the piercings. read more

My husband and I got tattoos on our vacation last week. The ink factory had good results online so I emailed them, paid a deposit, and booked appointments for my husband and myself. That process was super easy. I sent in photos of what we wanted and was given an estimate. We were both tattooed by Rob - and let me tell you... if you have the opportunity to request an artist, request Rob! This was my husband's first tattoo and Rob's calm demeanor and humor kept his nerves at bay. He took the pictures we email and created a few size options to try out which was nice. When it came time for my tattoo I had found a different version that I thought might work better... Rob agreed and worked it up. He had no problem moving the stencil or tweaking the size. His hand was very gentle and precise which made getting the tattoo more comfortable (I've been tattooed by someone with a heavy hand which was more painful) and the line work on both tattoos is impeccable. Both tattoos are healing phenomenally and the shop even followed up with care instructions before we left and also more detailed in an email after. I cannot say enough positive things about Rob and this shop. They are funny, professional, and made sure we had a great experience from start to finish! read more

First let me say, I don't leave a lot of reviews, and usually they are positive. That said ..I went to the ink factory while on vacation based on the positive yelp reviews. I got a small tattoo on my ankle, nothing complicated. Everything seemed ok/clean, etc. It has been just over 2 weeks and my tattoo is not healing well. It is still red around the edges, and the center of it looks bad. I went to a tattoo place at home and they said it looks like the artist went to deep. It will need to be fixed once it's fully healed. They also said the salve I was sold is not the best and isn't helping the healing process at all...so my small $80 tattoo will now cost me at least another $40. Needless to say I don't recommend them. read more

I got my nose pierced at the Ink Factory last week and it was a totally great experience. The vibe of this place is just way too cool and the staff are all very nice and accommodating. I walked in close to closing and didn't have to wait long. The piercing took all of 5 minutes and I was completely surprised how painless it was.
