Unfortunately, the way management handled this situation completely changed our experience. We each paid $300 for a 30 class package that showed a 54 day expiration in the app. In reality, we had roughly two weeks to use all 30 classes because the package was tied to a Summer Challenge ending around Labor Day. After purchasing, we even told two instructors, including the owner, that we were nervous about completing 30 classes in 54 days because we were brand new to Pilates. No one mentioned that we actually had only about two weeks. I don't think a 30 class package should have been sold that close to its deadline without clearly communicating the terms. Even a quick call saying, "This is for a challenge and you only have X days left. Are you still interested?" would have prevented this entire situation. I would have purchased the monthly unlimited membership instead. What disappointed me most was how management handled it afterward. It took over two weeks, unanswered emails, an in person visit, missed follow ups, and finally an Instagram DM just to get a real response. I understand people are busy, but even "we're working on this" would have gone a long way. We weren't asking for a refund or anything free. We even offered to move the unused classes to the next challenge. In the end, Amina offered five class credits, which would have been a nice gesture initially, but after weeks of chasing a resolution, I was too put off to want to use them. We loved the instructors, loved the classes, and I was ready to become a monthly unlimited member. They didn't lose us because of a miscommunication. They lost us because of how management chose to handle it. This is ultimately why Powerhouse lost me as a customer, and unfortunately, I will not be referring anyone to this business.

I've never actually done any training at Kinex other than the Tues/Thurs Evening and Saturday morning bootcamp classes, so this review won't cover any of that. However, the facility is new and clean, and has plenty of equipment. The trainers that I've met all seem friendly and competent, and it looks like they're doing a thorough job with clients during the times that I've been at Kinex for boot camp. I started going to their boot camp classes soon after Kinex opened. Sam and Jordan have done a pretty great job with the classes the entire time, and it doesn't matter if only two people show up or 15 show up - all the classes have been great. They have a good mix of workouts, and it doesn't feel like there are a lot of repeats, even week to week. They focus heavily on core workouts, and my abs/obliques always feel great after a class. Sam and Jordan do a good keep the classes fun and talk and joke with the participants. They usually have some kind of music playing to help distract you from the hard work you're doing. If you're looking for a boot camp class, I can definitely recommend the ones at Kinex.

The owner, Matt seems like a great and personable guy but he is only in it for himself. He brought many gifted trainers in from competing gyms, swooned them for awhile then took their clients and got rid of them. I am not pleased with the business mindset that the owner seems to possess and it takes away from the talented trainers that have stuck with it.

Everyone is very encouraging here, if you have a question or need help, there are several people who are willing to help. All the equipment is there for deadlifts, squats, bench press, and the Olympic clean, snatch and jerk. Zach does crossfit classes on one side of the warehouse! There is a spot where he has a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, and rowing machine. Those are the only "machines" at this gym. There are plenty of free weights on both sides of the gym. There are a lot of regulars that I've seen probably every time I've come in. I'm not gonna lie it was way intimidating at first but that went away pretty quick once I saw that we were all there for one thing, to lift heavy stuff! It's not like most gyms where you aren't allowed to drop weights, you can use chalk here and drop as needed. The chalk really helps, I was using gloves at the other place but they just don't work as well as chalk. There is no "kids spot" here but they do not have an issue if you bring your kids. There is plenty of areas for them to come along with you. Of course you have to be aware of them being there, though! I've flipped the tire a bunch here too and that alone is a great work out. That sucker is heavy!
