The owner asked me to try on a similar dress on the floor as it would be difficult to take off the manikin (but that she would take it off for purchase). I tried it on the one on the floor but again, let her know that I did not like the pattern of this one and wanted to purchase the one on display. She said she would take it off the manikin and hold it for me behind the counter. She bagged while I talked to my friend. I returned home to San Diego and opened the bag to find that she had not given me the one off the manikin as agreed. She knew we were from out-of-town and that I would not have purchased the dress she sent me home with. There are so many bohemian import stores in the area with good customer service, who would never try and pull something like this (even with a perceived tourist). It's sad to see this in a small business, and such 'small ethic' in human interaction in general.
