I hate this place so much.
The worst part is the staff.
My biggest complaint is the noise level.
Occasionally, I will sit at a table in this library, to get some work done on my laptop (the internet connection sucks, just so you know). I place ear buds in my ears to listen to music while I check my emails. No less than five seconds after turning on the music, a library staff member will rush to my table, requesting that I turn down the music -- apparently she can hear the music coming from my earbuds, and it isn't even that loud.
Contrast that with other days, when the library holds regularly scheduled childrens' events. You try to get some work done, but there are 25 screaming (and I mean SCREAMING) children jumping around in the children's section (which takes up half this very small library -- but is barely ever used...). If you complain to the staff about THAT, they don't even listen to you.
One time, I didn't have my earbuds, and I wanted to listen to the audio while watching a You Tube video. I had the volume down really low, but two seconds later, a library staff member came rushing over to silence me. I told her about the kids screaming, and all that, but she didn't care. I told her about the people talking loudly on their cell phones, or even the people talking to each OTHER. All of those instances produced MUCH more sound than my tiny laptop speakers set on LOW. She offered to provide me with a comment card so I could pass along my comments, but I refused and told her it would do NO GOOD. I have submitted comment cards in the past, but I get the same answer -- it's okay for kids to scream and people to talk loudly on a cell phone. It just seems that whenever I want peace and quiet, I can't get it, and when I want to listen to my ear buds, I am the loud person that needs to be silenced!
I just can't win!
