Well Rosie's did it again , they served up a 5 star Brisket Sandwich on Texas toast with Potato Salad and Baked Beans. I had a side of fresh Green Chile to which went on my sandwich and into my baked beans. It was a great fusion of taste on the brisket as the thick slice of onion created the delicious mouthwatering flavors. The Potato salad was ice cold and just like my mom's... delicious! Well let me start by saying Texas BBQ does not have a thing on Rosie's!!! What a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious I had the Brisket chopped sandwich on Texas toast it was moist and full of flavor, The frys had to have come right out of the fryer crisp and hot these did not sit under a heat lamp for sure! If you like hot get the spicey BBQ sauce. Rosie makes her own pickles get a jar on the way out better than any store-bought pickles. With all the homemade desserts the lemon bar was on point! It's as if my Jeep knows the way to Rosie's smokehouse , I have a 12 minute drive from Cerro and I could smell the BBQ coming into Questa. Rosie's smokehouse is the BBQ oasis North of Taos , west of Red River and south of the Colorado state line. Rosie's is worth the drive . We ordered take-out of the smoked sausage and the full Rack of ribs. The ribs were mouthwatering , perfectly smoked and fall food the bone tender. I slathered on one of each BBQ sauces as I went total carnivore on today's meal. Each bite a savory thick meaty bite. The sausage perfectly smokes as well and went well with the assorted sauces packed as well. I'd say if you're looking for some mouthwatering BBQ it's worth the trip from Taos or Redriver. If you happen to find yourself in Questa, New Mexico, Thursday through Sunday or you just need a reason to get out of town and go for a drive in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country head over to Rosie's Smokehouse. Went a couple weeks ago as we heard by word of mouth how good the food was. And boy were they right! Generous portions and great smoke taste, but not overwhelming. In other words, perfectly BBQ and smoke favor. Mac and cheese was made with real cheese and fresh. The restaurant is clean and well put together, with nice art on the walls. As an amateur cook myself, I'm meticulous about cleanliness, especially cooking his others. If you are anywhere near Queata run don't walk to Rosie's Smokehouse for the best barbecue you've ever tasted. I've had bbq in Texas, Kansas City, The Carolinas (you get the idea) but they didn't compare to the tender moist meat here at Rosie's. Maybe it's the love Rosie and her husband John put into their cooking. Everything is made in-house from recipes handed down generations. Excellent choices are the brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and ribs. Delicious sides are Cole slaw and potato salad. I am sure you won't be disappointed by anything on the menu. The atmosphere is warm and friendly like visiting a special aunt. Forget about Memphis forget about KC! Questa NM is where the the real BBQ is. Just went there for the 1st time. Scratch made everything. The only thing better than the food is the people. On our way through to Texas, we stopped for lunch at Rosie's. This was probably one of the best decisions we have made in a while. The brisket and pulled pork were outstanding. The two sides of smoked beans and cold slaw were also great. Rosie is a fine hostess, and the staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is very pleasant. We were staying in San Cristobal and not wanting to go back to Taos for dinner, so we looked north and found a listing for Rosie's. We decided to try it. We are so glad we did! The food was phenomenal! We met Rosie and her husband and they were the friendliest people, as were all of their staff. We tried the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. It was top tier barbecue. For sides we had potato salad, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. They have both regular Mac and cheese and green chile Mac and cheese. They were both great, but the green chile Mac and cheese was extra special, in my opinion. They offer lots of great desserts, too. On the day we visited, they offered peach cobbler, cherry cobbler, red velvet cake, lemon cake with blueberry filling, banana pudding, and brownies. Everything we tried was excellent! If I were a local, I'd be in that place all the time. If I ever make it back to this area, I will make a special trip to Questa just to visit Rosie's Smokehouse. read more
