Rosie General is a cute little spot in a great location at Kingston waterfront. Went there for brunch recently, and I found it pretty hard to navigate, to be honest. Was very unsure about seating, which seems to be first come first serve. There is a section of tables and chairs, and then barstools along the window counter. You have to just hover until someone leaves, and be mindful of people waiting. Difficult to know who is waiting to order, who is waiting to be seated, who is buying pastries, who is shopping in the store, etc. Order at the counter, and be mindful that there is a printed menu and also a chalk menu above you. The food was good. You also have to listen pretty intently for your name to be called. It's a little hectic in there, but good vibe.

Part retailer, part cafe-ish, this charming spot is the brainchild of the Sasso family and offers breakfast+ lunch sandwiches to salads, etc in a unique Instagramish-friendly space. Even at 11am-ish on a Friday, Rosie was rammed with a funky-good crowd. But with a bit of patience, there are plenty of seating options: by the window counter facing the street, up at the bar, the cozy nook with some plushy, velvet-like benches where you can leisurely do some work or towards the bar counter in the back. So without further ado, let's get down to more good stuff: you order up first, grab a seat, name is called. All breads are made in-house and almost everything else is. And food is tasty. The menu seems small but there are excellent options for all sorts of eaters- Vegan dishes, Vegetarian, meat dishes, Pescatarian and (maybe?) gluten-free. Then again, there's something for everybody that'll make you say mmmmmmm. Do inquire about other breakfast or lunch items not listed on the main menu. Hubs loved his crispy, thick cut bacon in his BEC on an English muffin. My house-cured lox was pristine, the onions are sliced paper-thin as they should- as were the mini cucumbers. The bagel....oh man, the bagel. Let's just say this, even my favorite spots in Woodstock (or towns near it) that offer a Lox & Bagel sandwich- the bagels aren't even all that- they're stiff as a board- even when toasted and it's like chewing on rubber. Not these my friend. Not these. Bagels at Rosie are simply airy. I'm a fan. I think if I lived in this town, Rosie would be my favorite go-to for breakfast! This without a doubt, is worth the 15 minute distance from where we live.

Went here for lunch on the way to Saugerties this week. Rosie General is a charming cafe that bills itself as a butchery and bakery with pickles and pie. There is a good amount of counter/bar seating and a few tables for small groups. I ordered the egg salad sandwich and a cappuccino with oat milk. The sandwich was delicious; it's been so long since I had a good egg salad sandwich! My husband ordered the Spicy Egg Toast and my MIL got the avocado bialy, and sadly, neither of them were too impressed with their meals. The cappuccinos also left much to be desired. My recommendation: order the egg salad and skip the coffee!

5 stars for the ambiance and vibes, 4 stars for the baked goods, and 3 stars for our lunches. We popped in for a weekend lunch and loved the bustling but cozy modest vibes. Open kitchen concept and counter service. Lots of miscellaneous goods for sale and a simple menu but seemingly something for everyone. Certainly on the pricier side for the food quality in my opinion. Our $11 egg and cheese on a bagel was just ok and the turkey sandwich was loadded with mayo in an unappetizing way. The $5 orange juice in the drinks case tasted like Tropicana in a plastic cup :(. The cookie and brownie we enjoyed the mostest! My recommendation to best enjoy Rosie's would be maybe coffee, sweet treat and hang.

Cute place with decent food. Very tight inside to eat but for a quick meal or delicious cookie, it's pretty good. Order at the corner and get it yourself. They also have some food items for sale along with cute vintage bags. Go and check the place out- you won't be disappointed.

Oh my god....this place is AMAZING! If I could give 10 stars I would. This general store took over the old Sillypot Antique space on the Rondout and what they did with it is unique and beautiful with such old school charm. They have everything here - cheese, meat, eggs, homemade breads with sourdough base, sandwiches, bagels, excellent coffee, baked goods and so much more. The type of spot you could go for breakfast lunch snacks or to pick up fresh local provisions. They have a few cute tables toward the back, seats at the large round bar or a long counter with a huge window facing the street. And plenty of plants to add to the cozy vibe. I came away with fig walnut bread, a cookie, slice of blackberry almond cake, a cold bean salad, fennel taralli and a cold pineapple tepache - everything made in house and really delicious! The best part is the friendly service. It's a family-owned business and the owners are knowledgeable, warm and will spend time actually having a conversation with you. I can't wait to go back. Another great addition to the Rondout! Just wish I lived closer so I could visit daily.

Do not order the pastrami, burnt and dry - and they are rude if you complain. Actually confrontational.

I have been there 4 times recently as they renovated and ultimately destroyed everything about the store and I will never be back which makes me sad. in the filthy confused disgusting mess that is the new renovation Ive never seen something renovated to be uglier and dirtier! and so much harder to shop in! a valiant checker and bagger were manning the register for the 12 of us who waited in line deciding we did not want to self checkout and hey even called the manager to open another lane bc the line was so long. she refused. on top of all that I couldn't find any organic frozen vegetables just one lonely bag of mixed veg. now the organic things are thrown in everywhere no rhyme or reason! I have run into many frazzled people in the store that ran in for one thing and are circling like mad bc nothing makes sense. whomever renovated this store is an idiot and I will never be back. thank you! because I always found an excuse to go there and spend twice as much! but now it's just a shittier more confusing more expensive with far less choices and so much less human checkers it's a sad little wannabe walmart you were the upscale spendy indulgence for people in our area who didn't mind the prices for a full shop or was running in for a quick forgotten or needed item now you are aldis minus the quality, discounts, and organization. I bet this store sees a massive loss in revenue. I'll stick with actual walmart where it's clean cheap organized and has human checkers. to the bagger and check out guy there last night aug 4,2024 you did a great job Grace under pre your manager seemed really lazy and you were anything but lazy! my bags were packed beautifully!

I know I could easily run to Vitamin Shoppe for my fish oil, rosehip oil, sea moss or natural hair and beauty products- but honestly, I'd rather keep supporting Mother Earth . Every so often when I'm catching up with other shops in Kings Mall, I come here to stock up on a few things. While prices are on the high side, the selections make it worth it. When I stopped by recently, I got one of their smoothies, which was super delicious. They also have nice fresh-pressed juice, pastries and hot meal menus. Bigger applause for catering to Vegans and Vegetarians as well. Mother Earth feels like a one-stop shop. The shelves are filled with everything from supplements and herbs to skincare and unique natural products I won't find in any store- not even Vitamin Shoppe. The environment is warm, earthy and inviting- and can tell they care about what they offer.

For example, a quart of Fage Best Self Lactose Free yogurt can be purchased at Price Chopper for $7.99. At Mother Earth, it is sold for $14.49. A pint of organic blueberries sold today for almost $10 as opposed to under $6 at Adams, and the ones at Adams are larger and plumper. I expect higher prices at a market specializing in organic foods, but the disparity makes this store out of reach except for a few of the hardest to find products.

It's one of the businesses on that stretch of Broadway to endure while others have changed hands. So the other day, I decided to take a peek inside and find out what's for lunch. Chicken Vindaloo. There's dry goods and ready-made foods for sale on the shelves as well as brightly hand-painted gifts such as food storage containers and kitchen towels.I bought both as gifts for friends. I also got an order of vindaloo to eat-in along with unsweetened ice tea. The meal was delicious. The business owner is gracious and helpful. Her ready-made lunches are served in what look to be attractive eco- friendly paper containers. When I let her know that I couldn't finish my meal, she smiled and said," I'll give you a cover for the container so you can take it home." The cover fit perfectly and was secure.
