Stayed in the Commanche, which in the photo shows a nice steel door. When we arrived, there was a rodent chewed bottom wood door, that lead to a cabin that had obviously not be cleaned for a long time. Started our trip by sanitizing our dishes as the sign in the kitchen said we needed to do, and after looking in the dishes it was obvious they needed to be cleaned. Opened the door to get a dish rag... mouse droppings. Okay, it happens. Got unpacked went out on the lake to a neighboring establishment for fish, then went fishing until dark, back to cabin, bonfire, bedtime....... you guessed it rodent holes and mouse droppings. Didn't even provide fresh bedding. Husband wanted to leave immediately, I didn't want to drive home and have to come back, so we "slept" in the living room with blankets we had in our vehicles, made it through the night and packed up. Why would you give away a free 2 night stay, and stick guests in such filth!! Thought the give away would have been meant for good advertising. With location, we definitely would have been back.But no longer..........

The lake is clean and we caught a lot of nice size bass and blue gills. There is a nice swimming area with shallow water. The owner is very hospitable and maintains the grounds with excellence. He goes the extra mile to help with personal needs be it getting water out of your boat after a rain or taking you into town if you have an emergency. We will definitely consider bringing our family back here again.

It was a nice two story with an upper double double bed loft and radiant heat in the floor on the main level. The kitchen was a nice size, and a brand new 32" HD TV in case you would actually watch TV. We were there for a weekend in January so we did not take advantage of the nice sized outdoor deck; rather, we watched the ice fishermen from our big sliding glass door. I was a little worried that the furnishings would be old ala the land that time forgot, but they were better than expected. The owners are really accomodating and easy to work with. There is also a little bar and grill up the road which I will also YELP about. The cabins are among a motor home "permanent" campground which was not too busy when we were there but is probably busy in the summer.

The sites are extremely spacious and well set up as the owner is also a coach owner. The grounds are immaculate and they host music evert Tuesday night that includes catered food from local vendors. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. During our stay we went to a small town festival and a local county fair. The owners are continually working on improvements on this new campground. If you are traveling through the Rice Lake area this is definitely a resort to stay at. You are not treated as a customer at this resort but truly as a guest. We will definitely be back.
