I brought my wedding dress to Rose's Alterations, and I'm really happy with the results! The two ladies who helped me were so kind and professional. My dress was way too big when I first brought it in, but they tailored it perfectly, added straps, and even included padding inside. It fit so much better after their work. The store itself smelled really nice and was very clean, which I appreciated. The whole process took about two weeks, and I believe I paid close to $300--though I'm not exactly sure. The only downside is that there always seems to be people begging for money outside the store and around the plaza. It didn't affect the service, but it did make me feel a little uncomfortable coming and going. Overall, I'd still recommend Rose's for alterations--they did a great job on something really important to me! read more

Needed a maxi dress hemmed, nothing fancy at all so I decided to try this place. She measured the hem and needed to take 6 inches off the bottom and when we were done she told me "You pay now" and I'm like "Why"? Am I crazy or is this a standard practice to pay for something before it's even completed????? I ask her why the total would be and she said "$45 and if you pay with a card then we charge an additional 5%". I didn't have time to go to an ATM machine and was standing there scratching my head ...but I needed to go and so I just paid for it. I called around after and the "normal" price for getting this hem done would have cost me no more than $25, so I called Roses and asked WTF they charge so much? Mad at myself because I should have called around beforehand. The lady told me "Well it's too late, I already cut your dress or I would give you your money back." Which I knew was total BS. I told her that she got me this time but I will NEVER return to this shitty shop that overcharges their customer big time!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! THEY WILL ROB YOU!!! read more

They always do a great job! From casual to wedding attire. And for those who haven't been back in a while - AC is much better. I've been using for 20+ years. Some of the other reviews seem to not understand business & inflation. Compare prices, their rates are good! Yes, they had to change their policies to require upfront payment & charge extra for credit cards because too many bad actors out there. I get it, they are a small biz trying to survive. Terrible value and poor quality. It cost me $100 to have a few items altered. Their prices have gone up and the quality has sharply declined. After 2 washes, the hem on one of my items has come undone. 0 out of 10 would NEVER recommend. A total rip off. read more

I've been a customer for years - but never again after today. Fn horrible customer service experience. Seriously, the woman "helping" me was glaringly rude bordering on contemptuous. To make it worse, they tacked on ridiculous up charges for hemming flare leg pants ("more hem") and 5% additional for using my debit card. And no customer restroom. I have been a customer of Rose's for over 16 years and was TRULY outraged at the recent prices and practices. I would give 0 stars if possible. My daughter took a formal dress to be hemmed and it was $155. She was unsure about paying that much but needed the dress for an occasion. She walked out the store and called me. I told her it was way too much. She immediately went back inside and told them she did not want to do the alterations. They REFUSED to return her money in full. Although they had no policy posted or written, they told her they needed to keep 20% of her money for simply taking her order!! Unbelievable. I would understand the retention of the surcharge they charged for card processing but that really should be a cost of doing business. I don't know what's happened to this business but they won't be getting any more from me. I would use them exclusively and drove a distance to do so but no more. We were referred to Monique's Alteration in Douglasville, right in my backyard. She did an awesome job and charged less for more......the price for Rose's was to hem the dress without reattaching the crinoline (reattachment was $30 additional) and sewing the split up somewhat. Monique hemmed the dress keeping the crinoline and sewed up the split for slightly more than half what Rose's was charging sans the crinoline. She was confused as to why someone would charge more to keep the dress in its original style. I couldn't agree more. read more

Had to get a bridesmaid's dress seriously altered. So apparently I have freakishly large hips, because the wedding shop I called into recommended I get a size 12 or something and then naturally when I receive the dress, there are about 14 spare inches in the top. OH WELL! Anyway, the nice peeople at Roses were able to cinch it all in. They charged me $65 which I thought was a bit steep at first, but then I considered how the dress has about 4 layers of lovely sky blue chiffon. They also did the work in about a week. Also, this is near Northlake Mall, but not in it. Find them in the Publix/Party City shopping center. read more

Rose's alterations is the MIRACLE for clothing repair. I bought a nonreturnable dress from the internet that didn't fit right nor look right. I explained to Kacy (Owner) , to the best of my abilities, how I wanted it repaired. She was very personable and patient despite my lack of knowledge in the industry. Being 5'5" and about 200lbs, everything I wear needs to be altered or adjusted to fit my body. I always have doubts about taking clothes to new places because when I have my pants hemmed I don't want high waters and I definitely don't want pipe pants. The people here know how to do things right. They'll use the previous hem if you like. They will also do full alterations of suits and jackets. If you are in a rush don't come here, because they take the time to do it right. Typically, this would be about a week. Pricing is great as well. All this great food and then dieting means a lot of taking in and taking out. In summary, great place to go for a hem job or other more complex needs. read more

Read carefully before spending money at Rose's Alterations in Moncton ! If you have NEVER been to an acceptable level alterations shop and have no clue what decent service and workmanship is and like throwing your money and clothing away by all means visit this shop. Pricing is APPALLING for what the ridiculous low level or service provided to the point of it being offensive in my opinion. They are charging absolute PREMIUM alteration prices for SHOTTY, VERY LOW quality and totally unacceptable service with absolutely ZERO attention to detail whatsoever. Have waited 4-5 weeks for simple alterations only to show up and be given excuses and unfortunately lied to on more than one occurrence. I once had to visit the shop 4 individual times to have a simple pair of pants tapered which they eventually LOST in the process dead serious unfortunately - no apology or any offer of compensation / discount. It's actually SO BAD in there it's almost funny when looked back at. One issue after another after another after another all well paying through the nose? For some reason they like to ignore specific alteration detail and go off on their own with how the item should be finished - happens without fail every time in my experience and I am talking about SIMPLE everyday tapering and sewing. Basically if you want to pay through the nose for an ongoing HEADACHE and waste of time, gas and money all while having your clothing butchered pay them a visit. Been several times out of necessity as Moncton has little to offer in this line of service but NEVER AGAIN. I will literally buy a sewing machine and do the work myself before returning. If you are particular and care that your items will fit perfectly, Mindy is the only person I trust. She is able to do anything. I am always bringing in items and having her change the sleeve, cut, or design. She knows how to make clothes fit perfectly. It is done right the first time. She does such quality work. Her prices are very reasonable. She is very accommodating. You will not be disappointed!!! She is passionate about sewing and knows what she is doing. I've gone here many times over the years; their work is solid, their prices are fair (although they seem to participate in gendered pricing- other reviewers here cite $7-$10 for hems on mens pants and jackets, while the minimum I've been charged for a dress hem is $14, no matter the sweep). I've brought them a total of three formal gowns....two were done in exemplary fashion. The third was an expensive silk floor length bias-cut deal with a train....a weird hem to start with, and the drape wasn't quite right after. I've given them other difficult tasks, though, and have no other complaints. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for hems on jeans and casual wear. read more

Got a blazer's sleeves trimmed. Male tailor grazed my butt a few times too much with his hand considering he was supposed to be working around my wrists. Would not recommend this place for other women. I also had to pay by check, which was annoying considering what century this is. read more

Rose's Alteration is the best! I took my wedding dress there to be altered as well as I wanted to change some parts of the dress (customized to what I wanted). I wanted to change the neckline and add some lace over it . The lady in the front was patient to listen to me and made suggestions on how to achieve the look I wanted. When I went back to pick it up and try it on again, It was beyond what I expected. The dress fit perfectly like it was just made for me. They did such a great job and exceeded all of my expectations. I went back a few week later to get some dress pants taken in and hemmed for work and again they did a great job! I even picked it up a minute before they closed and they were super nice and didn't seemed bothered at all. It can get kind of busy on Saturdays so if you're uncomfortable standing in front of other waiting customers while the tailor is pinning you, I would suggest going when its less busy. read more

Wedding dresses: If you are on a budget & don't really have time to do it yourself then maybe but shop around and compare prices. I had my dress taking in a little on the sides $60, really didn't want the bustle or cups added after seeing the cups b/c they didn't help much but they gave me a discount. When i came back the cups were not sewn inside the dress as I was told but on the outside of the fabric, which anyone could do themselves, my bustle was done with clips so it looked nothing like when she first showed me. I would not send anyone here except for small things, I could not afford to have it taken somewhere else so I paid $100 to really only get a dress taken in about 3 inches b/c the other stuff was poorly done. Kacy did an excellent job on my daughter's wedding gown and at a reasonable price. She was very patient and understanding, even though it took 4 fittings because of how extensive the alterations were. Two other places I went to before here told me they couldn't hem the dress because of the lace scalloped edge. Kacy was able to hem it and did a wonderful job. I have used Rose's twice for alterations. The first time 2/3 of my items came out fine and they had to correct the third. The pricing was decent and the work wasn't too bad. Now the second time, they wanted to overcharge me so I only got 3 pieces done. Again 2/3 of the items were fine. I gave them 2 opportunities to fix the pants and each time was a fail. They said again they would try to correct it a 3rd time but at this point they clearly don't know what they're doing and kept blaming the material as to why the hem was uneven and shotty. I told them I didn't have more time to waste with them and just refund the pants please. They said no and they could fix them in 5 mins. Well if the material is so difficult how can you accurately get this done in 5 minutes? I will not be returning as my pants look like crap and the wouldn't give me a partial refund. I am now disputing this with my bank, because the service was not completed. read more

I have been a patron of Rose's for years without incident. I was extremely disappointed today when I picked up a dress today and to my surprise, it was if the garment had not been touched, as it was still too big and hanging off of me. When I asked to be re-measured and to have the garment fixed, the same female taylor who measured me originally began to yell at me in front of other customers and stated that the dress is supposed to be baggy. If I wanted the dress to be baggy, I would not be paying you to alter it. She became irate and belligerent. Management/ the owner stood there and never intervened, nor did he try to correct the situation. I decided to take my dress and leave instead of engaging in this tacky confrontation. I recently got a bridesmaids dress taken in a little because of my small frame. I dropped my brand new dress off (that came straight from davids bridal and that was still in the garment bag) for about 4 days and went to pick the dress up the day before my mother's wedding. When i arrived and tried on the dress there was a very large black stain on the front neckline of the dress. When i showed them they told me it must be my makeup and refused to admit that they put the stain on my brand new dress that was only tried on once at their shop. Also, I didn't wear makeup or lotion or anything else when trying on the dress. The entire staff was very rude and got really nasty with me and my mother. I love the fast service. You can ask for things to be ready the next day if it's simple enough. The first time I came in, I brought in a very expensive, tavik one piece swimsuit. Unfortunately, it was way too big for me. I asked for adjustable straps, but the man did not know what I was saying. It was the language barrier, so he just offered me to make the straps shorter. ($10). I got 3 inches off. I came home, tried it on, noticed that one shoulder strap was an inch longer than what I asked for. Meaning, it wasn't evenly trimmed down. It was very noticeable. I was guessing it was because I asked for it to be done the next day. I didn't go back and complain because I had another item I needed done, and all the other places around me had bad reviews. I didn't want the people to hate me or anything and mess up my other item. I brought in a casual dress to be cut shorter (the hem for $15) and maybe she pinned it in the wrong place when I tried it on? But it was a lot shorter than I asked it to be. It's fine though. (I didn't rush them this time, so I don't understand why it couldn't have been perfect). I'm still coming back. I will just add an inch to whatever I need shorter and check carefully before I leave. read more
