They brought me a dinner salad. I went to the bar to let them know it was wrong and I was told "we are out of chicken strips and she does not have time to cut and bread any more". They then charged me $9 when the salad was $8.50 on the menu. The bartender shrugged when I told him that. They did not offer to make it right. If they were out of chicken strips they needed to tell me that WHEN I ORDERED! Who wants a salad with their beer?!? Be sure to read your receipt! These guys will rip you off. UPDATE: Someone replied below stating, 'Its 50¢ difference cathy.' They completely missed the point. This was never about 50 cents; it was about the poor attitude of the staff and the lack of basic customer service. Their dismissive response perfectly illustrates the exact issue I experienced during my visit.

It's significantly quieter when we've gone - around 530pm. They have happy hour until 7pm and honestly their food is some of the better bar food I've had. Their food is $6/item for happy hour. HIGHLY recommend the sweet potato fries and fried chicken tacos. It is dark in there - so fair warning. But otherwise it's a fun atmosphere and a great place to get an after work drink.

This place fell off hard…read more It used to be welcoming, fun, and packed with good energy. Since the new owner took over, the vibe has completely tanked. The atmosphere feels tense, people are getting kicked out for no clear reason, and it's uncomfortable just being there. The leadership shows. Rude, unwelcoming, and clearly out of touch with the crowd that built this bar in the first place. Yes, it's technically a country bar -- and that was fine. What made it work was the balance. They used to blend in other genres, which kept the dance floor full and the crowd diverse. Now it's country-only, all night, no variation. There's nothing wrong with country, but stripping away the mix that made it successful feels like a lazy, tone-deaf decision driving away a lot of customers. Security, bartenders, and DJs are still great -- they're not the problem. Ownership is. I won't be back. And judging by how empty it's getting, I won't be the only one.

An Unexpected Downtown Vancouver Gem…read more Jordan and I stumbled across Full Heart Irish Bar last week while walking through downtown Vancouver, and it ended up being one of those places you're genuinely happy you found. From the outside, it's small and pretty unassuming. You see the tables out front and could easily assume it's just another little neighborhood bar. But once you walk through the door, the entire atmosphere changes. It opens into this cozy, beautifully decorated old-world Irish/Celtic pub with warm lighting, great character, and an impressive wall of whiskeys behind the bar. It's intimate without feeling cramped, and considering the place is only about a year old, it already has the personality and charm of somewhere that's been part of downtown for years. A big part of what made our first visit so enjoyable was our bartender, Spencer. He was welcoming from the moment we walked in, extremely knowledgeable about whiskey, and clearly enjoys what he does. He's great at making recommendations and explaining different spirits without ever making it feel overly complicated or pretentious. What also impressed me was realizing that Spencer wasn't just behind the bar -- he was also handling the food. As someone who works in the service industry myself, I appreciate how difficult it is to balance making cocktails, taking care of a full bar, keeping up with guests, and preparing food at the same time. He handled it all very well. I came back again last night and happened to walk into trivia night, which I hadn't planned on. The place was busy, I ended up winning trivia, met some new people, and had another really fun night. Even with a packed room, the service stayed consistent and the atmosphere was upbeat and welcoming. That's probably the biggest compliment I can give Full Heart: after one visit, Jordan and I already knew we'd be back. It's small, comfortable, unique, and has the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in for a while instead of having one drink and leaving. Between the whiskey selection, the décor, the cocktails, the food, and genuinely good hospitality, Full Heart has quickly become one of my favorite little discoveries in downtown Vancouver. Definitely worth walking through that unassuming front door. To the owners: you have something special here, and you have one hell of a bartender representing it. People like Spencer are the reason first-time customers become regulars.

The layout is a bit of a puzzle-if you're in the front half, the stage is essentially behind a wall. On the plus side, the service was solid and the KJ was incredibly friendly! However, between the general lack of cleanliness and the same four people cycling in and out the front door every five minutes, it's a bit of an odd vibe. On a Saturday night it was empty. I would suggest stopping by for a quick drink and some people-watching, but I'd definitely skip the kitchen. I was shocked when I saw they offered so many options of food on a screen at the bar.
