We had booked online and paid in full for the weekend begining 11th of May 2012. When we arived at the allotted time of arival we found the building in a poor state of repair and closed. We tried to contact the owners on the number shown above but had no success. Having no choice we spoke to the tourist information office in Buxton only to find out that several people had already paid a deposit and were unable to contact the owners. Luckily we were able to find another B&B in Buxton and managed to save our weekend. As I have said we are not the only people who have fallen foul of what I can only describe as criminal activity and will be taking this matter further with the owners of the property. The Buxton tourist information office can verify the above I had to give a star to publish this it has NO STARS.

Besides, if it wasn't, the prices would have highly likely been much higher. I was a bit spooked at night - when somebody opened my room with a key. Later we established that actually it was me who was in the wrong room- however, quite spooky that they key I was given has open another room. They don't have breakfast, but have a bar downstairs

It was one of the cheaper hotels in which to stay at New Year in Buxton as they didn't hike their prices.

Much has obviously been done to keep the old place in a good state. The decorations are in a good condition and there are nice carpets throughout. It is beautiful inside as well as outside. The bedroom was very good, not luxurious but comfortable, clean, and had all the expected amenities The small bathroom was excellent and the shower worked perfectly. Some things let the place down. I had to wait 15 minutes to check in, in a long queue. The Wi-Fi is free only in the reception and restaurant area, but in the bedrooms you have to pay quite a lot for Wi-Fi. The lift works but is slow and has eccentricities in operation that you need to learn. The hotel boasts a good swimming pool with a tiny sauna and steam room attached, but this too is not free to hotel guests unless booked as an extra in advance. Breakfast was self-service and plentiful but the coffee was from a machine. Unfortunately although the restaurant wasn't at all full things like juice, brown bread, or cooked breakfast ingredients kept running out and staff could not keep up with replenishment. In fairness I got a good deal to stay there and I would stay there again, but a bit more management attention to detail wouldn't go amiss.

I stayed on a special offer and I am glad we did the room and general hotel was very clean and tidy and well equipped. The restaurant was very nice and in a conservatory, the food was excellent and the service was very good.

We stayed in the UK for two weeks and visited about 10 hotels and this was the only one where we had a really good sized room. It was huge. We felt like royalty staying there. Beautiful. The only thing to be aware of is they lock the doors at night and if you lose your entry code and can't figure out how to make an international call on a US cellphone, you will have to wait for other guests who are out partying late to open the door for you. Don't ask how I know all of that. :-) Wonderful hotel. Definitely one of the best of our trip.

Stayed at this Premier Inn prior to a day of hiking around the Peak District. One of the employees…read moretold us that it had only opened three weeks prior, and that really showed - all of the furniture and fixtures were brand new and gleaming. The automated check-in at the door was a very nice touch, as was the HDMI port in the room. (We ran out to buy an HDMI cable at a nearby electronics store so that we could watch movies from our laptop -- pro tip, bring your own if you want to do the same!) We ate the full English breakfast buffet, which was reasonably priced and pretty good quality for a hotel buffet breakfast. I also have to give kudos to the staff. When we initially checked in, our room was one side of a family suite, and there was a family with small children staying on the other side. While they were not being overly loud, every little noise was audible through the connecting door. We went downstairs and requested a new room if possible, and the check-in clerk was quick and professional about finding us a new room that was not part of a suite. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes. It was the quality of service I'd honestly expect from a much more expensive hotel. Highly recommended if you happen to be traveling through the Buxton area.
