Front rooms have lake view but our side room had a lovely tree view. Can't imagine there is a bad room in the house. Great for a stroll in the morning around the lake before breakfast. Walking distance to everything in Buxton! (We particularly liked Simply Thai for dinner - about a 5-7 minute walk from Roseleigh.) The breakfast and our hosts helpful information really made the stay extra special. Parking is available but it's a tight fit. Probably best to let your passenger out before parking so no one has to scramble through shrubbery. I would absolutely stay here again!

We had booked online and paid in full for the weekend begining 11th of May 2012. When we arived at the allotted time of arival we found the building in a poor state of repair and closed. We tried to contact the owners on the number shown above but had no success. Having no choice we spoke to the tourist information office in Buxton only to find out that several people had already paid a deposit and were unable to contact the owners. Luckily we were able to find another B&B in Buxton and managed to save our weekend. As I have said we are not the only people who have fallen foul of what I can only describe as criminal activity and will be taking this matter further with the owners of the property. The Buxton tourist information office can verify the above I had to give a star to publish this it has NO STARS.

Besides, if it wasn't, the prices would have highly likely been much higher. I was a bit spooked at night - when somebody opened my room with a key. Later we established that actually it was me who was in the wrong room- however, quite spooky that they key I was given has open another room. They don't have breakfast, but have a bar downstairs

It was one of the cheaper hotels in which to stay at New Year in Buxton as they didn't hike their prices.

Much has obviously been done to keep the old place in a good state. The decorations are in a good condition and there are nice carpets throughout. It is beautiful inside as well as outside. The bedroom was very good, not luxurious but comfortable, clean, and had all the expected amenities The small bathroom was excellent and the shower worked perfectly. Some things let the place down. I had to wait 15 minutes to check in, in a long queue. The Wi-Fi is free only in the reception and restaurant area, but in the bedrooms you have to pay quite a lot for Wi-Fi. The lift works but is slow and has eccentricities in operation that you need to learn. The hotel boasts a good swimming pool with a tiny sauna and steam room attached, but this too is not free to hotel guests unless booked as an extra in advance. Breakfast was self-service and plentiful but the coffee was from a machine. Unfortunately although the restaurant wasn't at all full things like juice, brown bread, or cooked breakfast ingredients kept running out and staff could not keep up with replenishment. In fairness I got a good deal to stay there and I would stay there again, but a bit more management attention to detail wouldn't go amiss.

We stayed in the UK for two weeks and visited about 10 hotels and this was the only one where we had a really good sized room. It was huge. We felt like royalty staying there. Beautiful. The only thing to be aware of is they lock the doors at night and if you lose your entry code and can't figure out how to make an international call on a US cellphone, you will have to wait for other guests who are out partying late to open the door for you.
