I'm not really a shopping centre person but when it's 8 o'clock on a Thursday night and I need hair…read moredye, a new outfit for the weekend, dog food and the weekly food shop there's really only one place to go. And in fairness where else can you do hours of shopping see a movie and have dinner without paying a cent for parking ?? The food side of the centre has improved massively in the last year - it used to just be fast food but now they have Wagamana, Captain Americas, Milano, Nandos amongst others.

Look, I'm not the biggest proponent of shopping centres. They're too packed, too bright, too hot,…read moretoo packed, not enough independent shops, and eh, they're too packed. So Blanch is no different. It's always rammed. It has the usual mix of high street shops and cheap eats. It does have an added benefit (depending on your perspective!) of being surrounded by outlets and bigger retail parks as well, so you can do your clothes shopping in the centre, then get your house-y stuff in the bigger ones on the outskirts. If you're into getting all your shopping done at once, and don't mind shopping centres, to be honest, it's not half bad. It does seem to have a greater selection of more 'value' shops than Liffey Valley and Dundrum if you're on more of a budget, which is good. Pro Tip: I have found on two occasions that all the carparks were full except the multi-story one on the Debenhams / M&S side, so if you're having problems finding somewhere to park, give that area a goo.

Just be aware folks, that from now on, if you drive in to this well out of town, in the middle of…read morenowhere place, you are paying to park to shop and dine. My previous stars were when parking was free and I could barely find a working toilet in the place. Their timing couldn't be worse with swingeing price increases and with Christmas just on the horizon. Put bluntly they are just greedy bastards. They say and are being disingenuous that their charges are aimed at encouraging shoppers to use public transport - no they are just chisellers. Who is going to do the weekly shopping to hop on a bus with bags of potatoes, carrots and a few litres of milk. Their centre operations manager who undoubtedly will have a free parking space has also confirmed that they will charge disabled car drivers. These good folks usually need more time to drive, park, manoeuvre and generally get around. I guess many of them would also avoid public transport to go shopping and I suspect the centre will lose footfall here. What's worst of all they are charging staff to park - apparently not a full daily charge but enough to screw over and rifle the pockets of the working poor. What the hell is wrong with us - taking from the poor to give to the rich. It's government policy in the UK now. They've given me a darn good reason never to return and for that I am grateful. I imagine I won't be alone.

This shopping center deserves more stars. It's underrated IMHO…read more Let me explain why. Firstly, it has everything you need from a shopping center to do your shopping. Dunne's Store is great and big. Then you can finalize with butcher shop, €1 place, pharmacy, sports shop, carphone warehouse etc. that's shopping for you. Want to hang out or have a lunch? There's a place that robs your pockets. That's right - Eddie Rockets. There's some lunch cafeteria. Ice cream shop. Feel sick? Go to medical and dental centre. Or visit Boots pharmacy. Need a haircut? Barbershop and hairdresser is there for you. On a parking level you can get your shoes fixed, keys cut, get some flowers etc. One thing that this place lacks is entertainment. Actually, there's a kids train that drives around with wagons. At least kids can be entertained. Spacious underground car park. With, I think, two hours free time.

I visited recently to make some last minute Christmas purchases and really found myself stuck for options. Dunnes is your usual affair, if a bit small. I would generally shop at GameStop, but that aside there is literally nothing in this place. I would save yourself the journey and head out to Blanchardstown or the Omni Center for a better selection of stores.

Well first of all here's my first review of this place. I've already done reviews on yelp only to…read morefind they've disappeared along with photos. So if this one disappears I won't be doing another one. Right here it is. If one considers the tourist office as the centre of Mullingar then this place is about an 8 to 10 minute walk. Mullingar is a charming Irish town with a lot of character and darn good foodie places. Just beside the tourist office stands a statue of Joe Dolan a famous Irish singer alas now dead. I'm pleased to say I saw him live and wow what an unusual voice. He had a number three hit in the UK in the 1969 when the charts had Elvis In the Ghetto (originally titled the Vicious Circle) David Bowie Space Oddity, Credence Clearwater Revival Bad Moon Rising with the amazing voice of John Fogerty who brought bluesy swamp rock to the hippie masses; Fogerty also holds the distinct honour of being one of the few musicians to be sued for sounding too much like himself. I digress again. This centre is a tad unusual as it has local businesses in it including a local barbers, a florist, a jewellers, a fruit & veg shop and a local butchers. Most shopping centres have the usual multi national and national names. This place has Boots, Holland & Barrett, a CarPhone warehouse and also has Dunnes Stores selling food & drink in one store and clothing and shoes in another store. The local butchers Tormeys has an on site Himalayan salt dry cure beef ager so I bought a few sirloins. I didn't need a coffee so avoided the Esquires coffee place. Worth a visit if you are close by.
