Clearly, I needed to find another dental clinic to continue work on my nasty pie-hole (I'm kidding, guys. My mouth's not that gross). Anyways, I happen by this place via Yelp search, naturally. And let me say...they did not disappoint. This clinic is a smaller one, which I like. Of the two times I've been here so far, it really hasn't been all that packed. While there may be some adjustments needed for their booking procedures (Seriously, I had to get rescheduled 4 times before locking in a solid time. What even IS that?!), they are very quick to check you in once you're locked in for a time. The office is very clean and COVID compliant. For the time being, you still need a mask to enter the building. The reception desk has its plastic shields in place, hand sanitizer, and so forth. But now...the real question that's probably on your mind. How gentle or rough are the dental hygienists? Take this with a grain of salt, as I am a patient whom requires more frequent cleanings as opposed to someone who does NOT have periodontal issues. The cleaning was (much to my surprise) completely painless. Yeah! It probably has to do with the fact that this was just periodontal maintenance rather than a deep cleaning, which I assumed was going to be the case. What that consists of is basically just them taking off the hard stuff more frequently than usual. A "normal" patient only needs a cleaning about every 6 months or so. I go twice as often. So, considering how painless this was, I don't think I'll mind the new schedule as much as I otherwise assumed. Pricing is fair enough. But as I tell everyone, check with the office to verify if they accept your insurance policy first. They're easy to find, located just off of the turnpike. Oh, forgot to mention...I met the head dentist of which this place is rightfully named after. The guy seems pretty chill and very knowledgeable in his craft, but definitely not in a pompous sort of way. That's always a plus for me; when dentists and their hygienists are non-judgmental towards their patients. With all that said, I think we got a keeper here, fellas! Dr Mandell reviewed my medical history, checked my mouth, and discussed all the pros and cons in great detail. It was not rushed. It was the most thorough and helpful discussion possible. He wis smart, professional, and compassionate. In addition, his office manager and hygienist are really excellent. And as we know, those folks can make a big difference. They were both super professional, organized, knowledgeable, and kind.

I also live an hour away! Life happens and people are struggling with Illnesses. What is the point in offering care if you are going to turn people away when they really need it? Zero empathy, just focused on making money. And yet they call themselves a "holistic" business. That doesn't sound in alignment. Cold and uncaring. By the way- discrimination against Epilepsy is still Illegal in this country!!!

Dr. Whitcomb made a careful assessment, worked out a plan and responded timely and with friendliness and optomism, which is what I needed at that moment. I was surprised to later receive a bill as my insurance covers 2 cleanings a year. The woman I spoke with, Michelle, advised my husband received a deep cleaning. This confused me because 1. when my husband had his appointment he came home and told me they barely cleaned his teeth and only cleaned the front 2. I scheduled an appointment to have a routine cleaning, why extra services were performed at that time does not make sense to me at all. I feel like we got scammed to be honest, and my husband never even got a full FREE cleaning, just a half ass "deep" cleaning. Keep it....

No root canals with crowns to properly…read moresave your teeth, all they want to do is pull your teeth then send you to an oral surgeon to have several teeth pulled. After teeth are removed they then insist you have cadaver bone transplanted into your jaw, which can be rejected, and they wait for it to (MAYBE) heal, so they can then send you for more tests and see if you can have tooth implants installed that take another year or so to heal and hope for no complications which apparently most people end up with! For further info, look at the recent article published by the Head of Harvard University Dental Medical Health. Restorative dental care is healthier and much safer for everyone in both the short and long term. Kalil and Kress no longer do what is best for the patients long term health. We know, we were their clients in the first months they opened their dental office and in 2024 after consulting with our Harvard Medical/Dental MD's and MassGenBrigham, we left Kalil & Kress for a much healthier dental practice !

In fact, it became a little bit more like a factory. Wait times increased (why book a 2 pm appointment to then wait until 2:30pm to see the dental assistant?!?!). The constant up sale for mouth guards became incessant. The basic feel of the place was to find a way to get more $$$$ from you. The final straw was having a procedure done at a high cost that was not needed to be done at that time since our insurance was switching over. One would think that Kalil and Kress would find a solution to either provide a discounted rate or some sort of discount for the years of being a loyal customer but this was not the case. Much like Nashua Eye, they grew too big and it was time to leave and find another place to take our business to. Am I sad? I little bit. Could this been prevented? I am not sure. I can say this, if I get told that I grind my teeth and need a mouth guard at $400, I am going to lose my mind.....I guess the article in Dentistry Today says "push the mouth guards, it's easy money....."
